Paired this with my base station and asked him multiple times if I needed to have the paid Arlo subscription for it to record videos to my app. Assured me I didn’t. Well, he was wrong and since they give you three free months when you purchase, I was outside the return window before I knew.

Without a service plan, your Arlo camera will continue to have the following features:

Auto Zoom and Tracking*
Two-way audio
Local storage recording*

Useless without a subscription

Arlo is one of the only cameras on the market that sends you notifications, lets you view live video and records videos that you can look back on WITHOUT A SUBSCRIPTION and saves recorded videos up to 2 weeks free. With the doorbell that is not the case. They gave you 3 months free then the doorbell is useless. You have to pay I believe $5 a month for your doorbell to record. It will still send you notifications and you can view live but does not record which in the event something happens, it’s pointless. Also arlo video quality with both the cameras and the doorbell is garbage. Not to mention there is a huge delay. If you have to pay a subscription anyways for the doorbell, might as well get better cameras like the nest. Those I heard have really good video quality and little to no delay. Those along with the doorbell are subscription only for recorded videos but at this point sound worth it to me.

Owned for 3 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had Arlo cameras for a long time now, so when I decided to put a video doorbell on my home I didn't hesitate and purchased this video doorbell from Best buy, assuming that it would replace another camera within my system. The installation was fairly straightforward and it worked adequately for a time. The surprise came when my free trial subscription ran out and the doorbell was rendered useless. I can no longer record video on the device, I can not take pictures from the camera, and now I just get notifications that motion was detected but it does not record anything! The trial membership also gets you well passed your return policy window, so you have no idea how useless this device is without a monthly subscription. I was reasonably satisfied with my Arlo system up to this point, but this experience ensured that I will no longer be an Arlo customer. This bait and switch tactic is shameful and shows how poorly Arlo treats their customeres

Picture has good clarity at night. Can['t seem to get it to download on my S22 for some reason. My wife had her downloaded easily on her S21. Have not installed the outdoor camera[s yet.
