    Terrible Doorbell

ARLO IS GARBAGE!!! I never write any reviews, but I had to write one for this- it’s THAT bad. First, I attempted to reach out to Arlo to give me a price adjustment after the doorbell went on sale two days after I purchased it, and I was never able to get in contact with anyone that could help me. I then purchased this doorbell at Best Buy and the doorbell cannot stay connected to my WiFi for longer than one hour. I have restarted this doorbell at least 10 times and I cannot seem to have a connection for longer than an hour. Every time I check, the app states that I am offline. I know it is not my WiFi connection because everything else is working flawlessly. Also, it is important to note that I have a chime connected about 5 feet away from the doorbell outside and it STILL can’t find a connection. This doorbell is terrible and I would not recommend it to anyone. I will be purchasing a Ring doorbell tomorrow. I was excited to purchase the Arlo video doorbell and I was extremely disappointed.

Great resolution camera. However the app for your phone is awful. Their tech support says a SW update is coming but until then, everything you want to do in the app requires multiple screens and non-intuitive actions. Every video delete is a two-step process - needs to be one-step when you have 30 videos you want to delete.

It’s a little bulky but I like it. Clear video and now comes with HomeKit support for apple. It also lights up red around the buttons when it detects movement. Easy to install.

Was not expecting it to have a image as good as it does. Setup up was easy. It's nice knowing when a package gets there since the delivery people don't always ring the doorbell.

I wish 8 would have gotten this sooner! Simple and fast hook up. I was concerned about it picking up to much traffic and it’s settings really can be specified to certain areas.

I think it works just as good as the competitors. It does what it’s supposed to do. Plus I love it that it gives the you the wireless option along with the hardwire option.

    My Favorite Video Doorbell

I replace the Pro version of the major competitor with this Arlo. It’s a definite improvement in picture quality, size of the picture, and response speed. With the Arlo, when someone pushes the doorbell button, my inside doorbell rings immediately (mine is hardwired to my inside doorbell) and I get a call on my phone that I can answer and talk to the individual at the door. You do have the option to have a message read to the caller if you prefer to not talk. I can also turn on the camera and get video after waiting for 10-20 seconds. The Arlo is faster in ringing my inside bell, and the call comes to my phone much faster than I had with Rxxx Pro. The picture quality is sharper, and the field of vision is much taller. Night time vision is also very good. Installation and set up of the Arlo was simpler and faster too. With the Arlo, you basically do the setup through the app before you actually mount the unit outside your home. The App is slick and works well. You will need to charge the battery with a USB charger before you mount it if you are using it wirelessly. I connected mine to my existing doorbell wires so I could still have a local doorbell. The existing wiring will trickle charge the battery in the Arlo during the evening when it’s not being used. There is no need for a larger doorbell transformer as the Arlo only uses the doorbell wiring for charging the battery. The unit is physically taller, but narrow, than the competition but that is due to a pretty large battery inside the doorbell. You can remove and charge the battery inside your home if being used wirelessly. Wirelessly it is a totally self contained unit that could be mounted anywhere outside your home as long as you have a good WiFi signal in that location. The doorbell has a black rear mounting plate, a black glossy front, and white trim around the doorbell itself. There is also an angled mounting plate included. There are no changeable trim kits like the competitor uses. It’s a good looking unit and the actual push button is large and prominent. The app is good. I like the “library” where all the old videos are stored by date and time. It’s easy to maneuver and view. Motion can be classified as people, vehicles, animals, and all other. I just turn on people and vehicles. I have a small area up the sidewalk and in lower view of front of the door active to see motion. This ignores the sidewalk and the street in front of my house. I rarely get unwanted notifications with these settings. The Arlo provides 3 months free of storage for past motion detection and videos before you need to sign up and pay the $3 a month fee if you want to save past videos. There is no local storage of videos. My only complaints would be the occasions when I want to check the front door and the delay becomes 20 or so seconds to connect. Alexa will announce that someone is at the front door when they ring the bell. However, I have been unable to get the video to show on Alexa even when I ask her to show the front door. As with any electronic device there are pros and cons. For the Arlo, I would definitely recommend this device as a great video doorbell with features and performance that most people would enjoy. Installation and set-up is very easy and the performance is excellent.

When I made this purchase, it was one of the few trusted(by me) wireless doorbells out there. We currently have arlo cameras and this seamlessly integrated with our existing system. Installation was pretty easy and I was able get everything going very quickly. If you are purchasing accessories (i.e. additional mounting backplate) be very careful to get he wireless version. This doorbell is thick and will not fit and not compatible with the wired version. In the end, great product, excellent picture, easy install, and wireless all contribute to the reasons why I rate this 5 star. Time will tell if it holds up to direct sunlight :)

I have Arlo Pro 3 cameras located around my house attached to solar panels. All work rather well. We added this wire-free doorbell because it made sense and since the renovation, we do not have any wired chimes. The only snafu was having to reconnect it on day two after I switched the chime noise. It works best on the basic chime - responsive and rings my cell. Otherwise, it delays the chime and sometimes disconnects. That is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

It works well solely for monitoring. The two way communication and doorbell functionality is very poor. Sometimes the app will freeze and you can only hear and there is a significant lag in audio. If you just need to watch your front yard, the quality is fantastic. Communication is just terrible

Quick and easy install. Setup with the app was flawless. Still haven't figured out how to add to the Arlo Hub but works nonetheless. Other reviews have pointed out how it is now as flawless as stated to work with Google Home. It certainly alerts you that someone has pressed the doorbell but you still have to answer from your Arlo App.
