My Arlo Ultra security system is the best in the business by far.

Other Arlo camera comes with 10 secs clips whenever there is a motion detection, Arlo doorbell camera only give clips if you are subscribed to their monthly plan

Love our Arlo doorbell, we also bought a extra battery as a backup.

Wouldnt buy this product.we have a gate and the range of the camera wouldnt allow for a connection.

The Arlo Wireless Video Doorbell comes with Doorbell and standard mounting plate, angled mounting plate, release pin (for removing doorbell battery for recharge), Battery, charging cable, wall screws and anchors (if needed) and hardwiring accessories (extension wires and wire nuts). The Arlo Wireless Video Doorbell can either be wireless (using just the battery) or hardwired to your existing doorbell (for continuous battery charging). Either way, it still has to be connected to WiFi to use the mobile app. The angled mounting plate included is only for vertical side angle. There is no angled plate available if you want to have the doorbell facing downward to increase visibility of a top step. Installation was pretty straight forward. First the Arlo app has to be downloaded on to your mobile device. The app has step by step instructions on how to install the Arlo Wireless Video Doorbell. It only took me about 15 min to install it. The wire extensions were helpful since my doorbell wires were too short to reach the contact points on the doorbell. The wire nuts (aka wire fasteners) included seemed to be a little loose, so I used a small piece of electricians’ tape to hold the wires together first, then attached the wire nuts. The Arlo Wireless Video Doorbell has excellent video quality and the camera can be programmed to go into infrared mode at night. Even in low light (just light from a streetlamp across the road) the camera picks up movement from the sidewalk to my front door (approximately 30 feet). The Arlo Essential Video Doorbell’s mobile app has a lot of different settings for video, audio, activity zones and more. The app also has different modes to choose from depending upon the situation – Armed, Disarmed, Schedule (create times for use), GeoFencing (location), and Custom. The app can be a bit confusing and I’m still learning and experimenting with the different settings. ADVANTAGES OF THE ARLO ESSENTIAL WIRELESS VIDEO DOORBELL (PROS): - Can respond to visitors with a pre-recorded message or quick reply. - The doorbell works with various Amazon Alex devices (I have it hooked up to my Amazon Echo 8), OK Google, IFTTT, Smartthings. - There are 3 choices of Video Resolution: o 1536 x 1536 Highest resolution for sharpest picture o 1080 x 1080 High Definition with good resolution (this is the video setting I have and the videos are clear and sharp, even at night. o 720 x 720 Standard Definition 1:1 ratio resolution. Videos not as clear and sometimes can get blurry when zoomed in for closer looks. - The camera has a 180° viewing angle (about 10-15 degrees more than others) - Built in siren which can be activated using the mobile app. It’s loud so your neighbors will definitely hear it and it could easily chase away a potential burglar or unwanted solicitor. - The Arlo Video doorbell has e911on the mobile app which saves time in protecting your home and your family if you’re away. - Can view clips from your smartphone’s lock screen and either answer the door through the integrated audio or take any action necessary. - Cloud storage on the MyArlo website for 30 days (requires a subscription starting at $2.99/month). - Can download videos from either the MyArlo website or cell phone if needed. - The Arlo Video Doorbell has different modes of detection that can be chosen a la carte-people, animals, vehicles, and Packages. - Can be connected to Apple Watches (but not SmartWatches) - Has a 12x digital zoom (which works best on the 1536x1536 resolution) - All functions, modes, activity zones and downloads can be done with the Arlo Mobile app. - The battery is purported to keep it’s charge for up to 6 months. Right now, it’s at 90% with 30–40-degree temperatures (it was installed a few days ago). - The Arlo Wireless Video Doorbell can be used indoors (apartments) or outdoors. It’s certified to withstand, hot, cold, rain, and sun. DISADVANTAGES OF THE ARLO ESSENTIAL VIDEO DOORBELL (CONS): - The Arlo Video Doorbell does not have an app for Windows or Mac. - Can only be logged into one place at a time. If logged into mobile app, can’t log into the MyArlo website. You get an error that you “are already logged into a device.” - Cloud recording is only for 30 days (various other video doorbells give 60 days of cloud recording) - When downloading a recording, there is no date in the file, just numbers. Have to go into the video Information to see when the video was recorded. Either that or change the file name as soon as it’s downloaded. - Can only be connected to Apple Watches and not other Smart Watches. - Mobile app can be a bit confusing until you get used to it. If you don’t have a video doorbell, the Arlo Essential Wireless Video Doorbell is a good choice for either a home or an apartment. If using it wirelessly I suggest purchasing an extra battery and have that completely charged. This way there won’t be any interruption of detection while one is charging. I only gave 4 stars, not because of the functionality of the Arlo Video Doorbell, but for the fact that it does not have an app for Windows or Mac laptop/PC and for the other cons listed
