I like the various detections the doorbell provides, but the time it takes to receive an alert is a little too slow

This has been a good device for our family. The only con is the night time clarity. Although it may be operator error.

Attempted to install and ran into issues. Called the 800 number only to find out they've discontinued phone support and redirected to online support. Online support is only available if you sign up for the subscription service, which I couldn't do because of the installation issue. Sent an email and it took 6 days for a response, which only asked more questions. Returned item and purchased a Google Nest which installed easily.

This device routinely misses people delivering things to my front door, neighbors walking up the driveway, etc. I've made every possible adjustment to the "smart" notification range, to no avail. Also go through phases of it alerting me to EVERY vehicle that drives by, regardless of settings, while failing to detect the mailman on my porch.

No complaints about it, helpful since I receive a lot of packages. My Geek Squad person installed it, so I didn't have any problems or issues with installation.

The specifications for the doorbell system necessary to support this doorbell are inaccurate such that instilling it is much more difficult than the directions suggest.

First impression: My first impression of the Arlo Video Doorbell was the same as for all of my other Arlo products; it is very sturdy and very well made. The video doorbell felt solid, the button was solid and didn’t feel loose, the connection screws were good quality stainless steel, and the plastic pieces that attached together had strong connections. Installation: Installing the video doorbell is a 2-part process. To start the process, you need to download and install the Arlo app, or if you already have the app, open it up and select “Add new device” under the devices tab. Then select “Doorbell and Chime”, and then select “Essential Doorbell Wired”. The app then guides you throughout the entire installation process. The app’s install guide is very well written and documented. The visual aids make sure you understand exactly which direction to take depending on your existing system. Once you complete a step, it automatically takes you to the next. The first part is installing the chime adapter in the doorbell chime assembly. This is a quick and simple process. Once that is done, the next step is to physically remove the outside doorbell button and install the Arlo outside doorbell assembly. Again, this is a fairly simple process. Once I removed the original doorbell button, I had to drill 2 new mounting holes. I followed the directions and had the Arlo assembly installed in less than 10 minutes. Setup: Setting up the Arlo video doorbell to work with your Arlo system is as easy as any of their cameras. The app guides you through this final process for the install. You join the doorbell into your home wireless network and the Arlo command center adds it to your camera lineup. The app allows you to configure the audio and video settings. The doorbell has the same available configuration settings as the Arlo security cameras. After going through all of the settings, I stuck with the default settings as they were the best for my location. Features: The Arlo video doorbell provides a lot of options for how to respond to someone pressing the doorbell. You can have Arlo notify you through the app, you can have Arlo actually call your smartphone allowing you to answer the call and talk to the person at the doorbell, it allows you to answer with an automated message, and it allows the caller to leave a voice message the same way as leaving a voicemail on someone’s phone. My wife and I went through the various options and all of them worked as specified. Performance: The video quality is very good. The 180-degree field of view allows you to see all of the people at your door, eliminates any blind spots, and allows you to see any packages left at the front door. The audio quality from the doorbell is also very good. The audio is clear and is a good level. Any background noise such as passing cars or recycling trucks can be heard clearly but doesn’t drown out the speaker. The time it takes from activating the doorbell to alerting me on my phone depended on the Internet/network access at the various testing locations I chose. The quickest time was almost instantly, and the worst was around 6 seconds. This was at a spot with slow WiFi. More often than not the response time was around 1 – 2 seconds. My favorite part was the doorbell’s ability to detect pets as pets and not people. In my neighborhood, there are quite a few free-range cats. Their owners let them out all night and they roam the neighborhood. My Arlo cameras detect them as animals, so I am not bothered by being notified because I have animals disabled in my smart notifications. The doorbell does the same thing. I like this because I can leave the doorbell active with motion detection 24/7 and not be bothered when another cat strolls onto my front patio. Conclusion: I like the Arlo video doorbell and I see it as a good addition to my Arlo system. The installation is much easier than I thought it might be, the settings are very configurable, and the doorbell has great audio and video quality. If you have an existing Arlo system or are looking for a security system and/or video doorbell, I recommend the Arlo video doorbell.

This product is awful, the video upload from doorbell to cell phone did not work. based on best buy and arlo warranty on product, I would advise not to buy. I purchased this item a couple of months before my home was finished, put the device in and found out it didn't work. Was not able to get a refund back because money back is only 30days from purchase even though they have a year warranty on the product.

This worked for the first 30 days we had it. I started troubleshooting when it was and was not working. It seemed the closer we got to the free subscription expiring the more it quit working. i have contacted Arlo many times over the past month trying to resolve the issues. Have also installed a new router AND a new modem to increase speeds, uploads and channels. nothing has worked. DO NOT BUY THIS ....
