I like the Arlo and was able to get it on sale which is a bonus. It was relatively easy to install and the instructions were good and helpful. I did run into a snag with my bell transformer that I was able to resolve. I’m undecided about the monthly subscription at this point but we’ll see how I feel once the 3 month free trial expires. I especially like the look and feel of the Arlo. It has what appears to be high quality construction. Overall it’s been a very good experience so far.

The Arlo Video Door Bell is your window to your home while you are at home or on the go. This video door bell allows you to see who is at the door and also lets you communicate with them right from your phone or even a smart display and when you are not home or can’t answer your alert it takes a message for you. This door bell is full of amazing features and a great quality video and audio. Let’s go over what the Arlo Video Doorbell has to offer. Unboxing and Setup- Right out of the box the Arlo Video Doorbell looks beautiful, its slim and has a black gloss center with the camera and doorbell button and white border finish. The setup of the doorbell is very simple. ***THIS DOORBELL REQUIRES A HARDWIRED CONNECTION TO WORK***. I highly recommend you download the ARLO app before you begin the process. You have to signup for an Arlo account first and then the app guides you each step of the way on how to set up the doorbell. The doorbell comes with an angled and a standard mount and all accessories needed to get the job done. My setup took less than 15 minutes, from removing my old device to installing and updating the new one. Once the setup is complete, the doorbell will guide on setting up the different features such as detection, activity zones and a new feature called package detection. Features- The Arlo Video Doorbell has HD video with HDR resolution. I was able to set mine up to 1536 x 1536 resolution, the video quality is actually a lot better than my old video doorbell. You also have night vision, 2-way communication, live view option, package detection, motion detection, activity zone setup, person & animal detection with smart alerts which allow you to choose which options you like to turn on. Some of my favorite features of this doorbell that my previous did not even offer are the pre-recorded messages you can play if you don’t want to speak to someone or the ability for someone to leave a message for you on your doorbell if you don’t answer the alert. The other feature that I liked was the option to link the doorbell to Samsung smart things and Google Home/Alexa, giving you the ability to view and answer your doorbell on multiple devices. One option I noticed that I have not seen on my previous doorbell was the ability to remotely turn the doorbell off. Now I am not sure how useful this could be but I am glad that option is also available in some case that I may need it. One other feature of this doorbell that I really liked was that the view on this doorbell was a bit wider than my previous doorbell, allowing me to bigger viewing window. Not so good- The only thing I am not a fan of is the subscription service. The Arlo video doorbell comes with a 3-month trial plan which gives you access to the smart alert options and saves your video and notifications to the cloud. Without the subscription service your doorbell would still operate as normal with the notification on your phone, the live view option and push notifications for motion detection, but your videos and notifications would no longer save on the cloud and you would no longer have access to the smart alerts and some smart features. I had been reading some reviews where people were complaining about a delay between the motion and the alerts. I personally did not run into such issues, actually I had no issues at all. From the setup to the doorbell being pressed to the calls and alerts coming to my phone. Aside from the subscription service, which my old doorbell also had and I did not subscribe to, the Arlo doorbell was a clear winner in my book. I would recommend if anyone is looking to for a video doorbell to give Arlo a shot.

My overall need is immediate access: either, “eyes” on whatever is happening on/in my front porch/yard on or the ability to engage with whoever is at my door. This does both well enough. My only complaint is the live feed takes just a bit longer -with a lag of 4-6 seconds- than I would prefer.

The Arlo Video Doorbell looks very nice. It includes just about everything you need for adapting to existing wiring. Calls your phone if you want when the door bell button is pushed. The AP is easy to use and the picture quality is adequate. I had a very difficult time snapping the doorbell into the mounted bracket. Your supposed to push the top of the doorbell up into the bracket then push the bottom in until the spring loaded part on the doorbell clicks into the bracket. No matter how hard I tried I could not get the bottom to snap in. I had put the bottom in first then force the top of doorbell into the bracket. If your doorbell is mounted on vinyl siding there are no spacers included with the doorbell bracket so the doorbell sits level. I had to add a 1/2” spacer under bottom of doorbell bracket so it wouldn't point downwards.

I did a lot of research before getting this Arlo doorbell cam. I've had a Ring Gen 1 since they came out and it was getting time to replace as the video quality wasn't great and it had a hard time when the sun was bright seeing anything. First off - installing the app and creating an account - it would not allow my iphone to be a trusted device. Tried all the tips on their website to get the iphone to work. Uninstalled, reinstalled, etc. So I moved on to an android device I have, and it was added as a trusted device no problem. I concerted support but was told I don't have a subscription that includes chat based support. Fair enough, I haven't installed the device so the free trial isn't active. The installation - The ring doorbell has always been extremely easy to install. This was not the case with the Arlo. The ring doorbell has you connect the wires to the mounting plate - and there is no need for a transformer in the chime box. Arlo's mounting plate doesn't include the place to install the wires, you hook those directly to the arlo unit itself while it hands from the small wires. The screws with the Ring doorbell were easy to install and the ring doorbell even came with a screwdriver with Philips head and hex head (security to remove the doorbell from the mount). The Arlo screws were very large for such a small device. There is also no clearance behind the mounting plate for the wires to go. I had to re-install it 3 times due to the wires breaking because there is not room for them to hang out a bit, and I crammed them into the hole as far as they would go. I had to hit the device to get the locking mechanism to work, and it is still sticking out a bit at the bottom. The included screws are deep, which is good for security, but are very cheap. Nearly stripped both of them while installing into a normal door frame trim. When having to take it back off because the wire was broken and it had no power, the unit popped off the wall and almost hit the ground when I inserted the security tool, luckily I caught it. Then - when I finally get it installed without breaking the doorbell wires, the setup failed to install a firmware upgrade (after waiting about 10 minutes while it said it was installing). So now I'm setup and I have an Arlo trial for 3 months (lowest plan is 2.99 a month after the trial) so I have support right? Wrong... I tried to contact support about the trust issue with my iphone and was told by the support agent that I didn't have support included in my plan. Image below is AFTER I started the 3 month trial, so when most people are going to need help, during the installation and trial period, they offer no chat support. Pros - The image is much clearer than my old Ring device. Cons - Installation is a pain, customer support is non existent, and I'm still having issues. It was so difficult to install I don't know if I want to mess with taking it all back off to return it. With my ring doorbell it was easy to install and I've taken it everywhere I've lived. If I were sell my house the new owners would get a free Arlo Doorbell as I do not want to go through the pain of installation again.

Purchased the doorbell after reading multiple reviews to replace an Arlo camera we had over the front door. The resolution is pretty good. You have add a small device to your indoor doorbell in your house for the doorbell portion to work. The alert time that someone is in view of the camera is almost instantaneous. When someone presses the doorbell, my phone will ring like someone’s calling me. When answered, it almost looks like your FaceTiming your doorbell. Highly recommended, and glad I made the purchase!

This wired set up is great fast an simple . Picture quality is great with the horizontal and vertical view I had added to my Arlo pro2 and works great I definitely recommend this product I also do like the feature that when the doorbell is pressed it calls my phone.

Overall I'm very pleased with the doorbell but my only issue is that the "live" feed is about 15 seconds behind while my Arlo pro 4 cameras are closer to like 5-8 seconds behind despite almost all of them being father away or having more wake between them and the router

The best doorbell, any event what happen in font of my door is captured by Arlo, I love it!!!

I was able to figure out installation after a couple challenging issues and a call to the Arlo help desk. Did not need to hire an expert. (Wife really likes that.). Works well with existing application we use with other Arlo cameras. Application recognizes packages vs people or stray animals or vehicles. We will likely continue the minimal cloud storage cost for the advanced application functionality. Good investment and easy to install.

Easy to install. Excellent sensitivity with head-to-toe view and super range. Love the Activity settings feature. Speaker and Microphone are fantastic! Battery life is very good after 10 days at 88%. Tweak settings in the Arlo app for the environment to gain optimal performance. Highly recommend.

I have all the arlo cameras and just added this new baby to the Arlo family. I really like Arlo but I get a green block on screen. I’m unsure if it’s the internet or just error on Arlo part. But I like it. Will be buying other Arlo products. Looking for flood lights now.

Works great with my exciting arlo system but I wish it had a 180'° view like my previous doorbell. If I didn't have the arlo cameras and spotlights already, I would go back with my last video doorbell

Extremely happy with this camera. It's works as expected, just follow the arlo on screen instructions and it's easy. Just keep in mind if it doesn't work with your current chime box then it's probably the transformer. It needs a 16 to 24 volt transformer to work with old chime as well as your phone. If you can't find the transformer it's probably in a closet near the top close to the chime box. Just make sure to turn off breaker first. When hooking up camera to doorbell wires they won't shock you as they are low voltage. Hope this helps!

Surprisingly easy to install using existing doorbell wiring. Also easy to set up with Arlo app. Really like being able to see who or what is at the door. Comes with horizontal angled mounting plate, but could have used vertical plate with our siding.
