I would have given a five if the customer support wasn't worthless. What they don't tell you is that this will not connect to a mesh network if you have any symbols like ~!@#$%^&*()_+ in either the password or the network name. You also have to temporarily disable the 5g speed because it will only connect to 2.5. After it is connected it will work mesh network. Besides that, it works great!

The doorbell has a nice wide view and good night vision. I can see more with it than if I open the door and look out. The only drawback I have noticed is that passing cars send me a message-auto. I wish I could ignore cars, since it can recognize them.

I can leave this doorbell active all the time because it’s hard wired, no battery to replace. Videos are excellent. It notifies you when someone is at the door & you can talk to them. It was easy to install - I drilled an extra hole since my previous doorbell was round. You have to subscribe to one of the Arlo plans to utilize the doorbell.

Really good quality image, easy to install but beware you have to pay for subscription after 3 months for cloud recording and motion previews, which is a bit pricy and it’s a separate charge from your arlo subscription for the other cameras.

What a great addition to your smart home! The Arlo Doorbell has crisp HD picture and is easy to install! Only down side is now Arlo is requiring monthly payments for what used to be basic features. This is not uncommon for any company though.

I really like this Doorbell. I choose this doorbell over Ring because I trust the netgear products. This doorbell have excellent night vision and to me it looks like it have 4k video.

One of the Better Video Doorbells

I use this along with an Amazon Echo Show to see who rings my doorbell. Since I don't subscribe to any monitoring service I cannot see who rings my doorbell when I am not home. However, this unit like most others is capable of notifying your smart phone in realtime when someone rings your doorbell, you just have to pay for a subscription service to get this. Those services also keep a recording of such alerts for various amounts of time depending on the company and the service level you subscribe to. But with those subscription services always be aware of the privacy that you may be giving up. The picture quality is HD and the aspect ratio and size are better than most other doorbells. Also, no hub is required; it can be connected directly to your WiFi.

Fairly easy to install, I have been using it mainly to keep an eye on packages coming in. It has been a helpful device and a must have if you want real time as well as recorded feed on your door. Notifications also involve pet and human detection as well as video calling if needed at the door. Must have if you travel a lot or work far out. Would recommend this to anyone specially at this price point!

I like the fact that this doorbell is hardwired for power but not so much that my existing doorbell is not as loud now. It may just be my particular home doorbell chime box but I have purchased a chime 2 as an add on to get a louder chime for those that are home and won’t be notified on phone when someone rings the door. The video quality is pretty good and it actually surprised me considering it wasn’t 4k. The dooorbell works as intended and I like the fact that they offered this product as a hard wired version. I would like to see an option to adjust chime perhaps instead of just having digital and mechanical. The LED lighting around button could also be brighter .

Previously had the wireless remote, aa style. Batteries lasted maybe 6 months, and advanced features required corded power. This unit wired in easy, nice there's no batteries. Paired well with the arlo base station, have activity zones to stop recording if every movement.

Bought two for front and back door. Great day and night picture/video quality. Very easy to set up and use. I have dogs and cats and receive notifications about every 5 minutes when they walk in the field of view. Now I can monitor what they do during the day. And I can monitor when packages are left at the door.

    Really Happy So Far

Had previously tried a Ring but had issues at the install so decided to wait it out until Arlo's came out. Install took no time at all and it was up and running immediately. As others have commented, so nice to have all in one app with my other cameras. I was able to set the activity zone very easily so it ignores people walking by on the sidewalk but captures everything else. Real test will be if it can stand up to a Michigan winter, but so far so good.

    Couldn't Be More Pleased

As a prelude to my review, I'd like to mention that I bought a competing unit a couple of weeks ago and it was a nightmare. It was almost impossible to physically install and it never connected properly to my phone so I was unable to finish the software installation/setup. On top of that, the technical support was somewhere between terrible and non-existent. I mention all this as background for what I have to say. The Arlo doorbell is terrific and the company's support is even better. My installation of this item, both the physical installation and the setup went off without a hitch and the device is everything I'd hoped it might be. Moreover, I had a small glitch a little while ago and was able to reach a support agent within minutes who set me straight. Here's the thing: It's 11:30 on a Sunday night! Needless to say, I'm impressed. Bottom line: I recommend this device without hesitation. As far as I can tell, it's the best product in the category and, without question, the best value by far.

The best video doorbell available. It is reliable at tracking all movement, packages, etc. even from over thirty feet (motion detection set at 100%). Video is clear and the easy zoom function keeps video clear for detailed recognition. Integrated to our home security system and Alexa functions without problem.

This is a great camera. Great picture and video quality day& night. The only thing I had difficulty with was connecting to WiFi. I contacted Arlo support multiple times. I did not talk to a live person over the phone; I was texting a representative through the app; it did not fix my problem. I ended up resolving the problem on my own after asking a friends how they trouble-shooted theirs. The doorbell cam was not detecting my WiFi on the 2nd floor. So, I had to bring the router to the front door, and it worked! After connecting, I moved my router back up to the 2nd floor and it still works.

The Arlo Essential Doorbell is a nice device. I enjoy it better than other smart doorbell that I have purchased. It is easy to install. The software is easy to operate and connect. There are a few things that Arlo needs to work on with this device. First, the device cannot connect to homekit without purchasing the Arlo hub. The cloud service for the price is not terrible but a few things need improvements. It would be nice to have facial recognition for when people approach the doorbell so the user knows who is approaching the door. The zones are nice but they need to be improved to have more than 4 points per zone, not every area is a square or rectangle in size.

It’s interesting that the installation instructions are a video, this device came with very limited printed info. That being said the video was fairly easy to follow and installing this doorbell wasn’t difficult However getting it connected was a bit of a struggle, my wifi is 5g and you have to use 2g to setup, so be prepared to change WiFi settings, then there will probably be a firmware update which takes a few minutes. That being said the camera has sharp images and picks up movement quickly. I was getting frustrated trying to get this to connect to WiFi and almost returned this for a Ring system, glad I was persistent in getting it connected..
