    Crystal Clear Surveillance

The Arlo Essential XL 3-Camera was a good choice for my outdoor surveillance needs. It’s very easy to mount and the instructions on the app to set it up were pretty straightforward. I didn't have to hire a team of experts just to get an added security at home. The app in itself is user-friendly and easy to navigate. The key feature for me is the night vision. Picture quality is sharp and clear both day & night unlike your traditional CCTVs. The motion detection is spot on and it has a zoom feature as well, although it makes the picture grainy at a certain point. I am confident that the material is durable enough to withstand any natural disruptions. Charging is a bit of an inconvenience, but I wouldn’t trade it for the camera being wireless and having a long battery life. The subscription model to access some other features is a bit displeasing. Another downside that I noticed was a bit of delay in my live feed. Overall, it’s a good outdoor security camera for its price but could use a bit of improvement.

DO NOT BUY THESE CAMERAS! Subscription required. They no longer have the 7 day free recording option. Now it costs $7 monthly for each camera. Don’t waste your money on these cameras. Find something else.

    Great Video Great Price

Arlo is known for great video and quality and these cameras do not disappoint. With this set you will get 3 cameras, three USB-C charging cables, wall mount and screws for each camera, a quick start guide and an Arlo decal to put in your window. As the less expensive version in Arlo cameras they capture video in 2k and the images are clear. These have a longer battery life which Arlo states could last up to 12 months. I have not had mine long enough to know if this is true or not. A nice feature of these cameras is that you do not need a base station (hub) to use them. They connect directly to your Wi-Fi router but must use 2.4 Ghz. The cameras would not work with the 5 Ghz which it first connected to. You need to make sure that you have a 2.4 Ghz selection to choose from. My router had a mix of both and usually things I added to it chose the correct Ghz to use. Not so with this app set up, so I had to change the mixed to individual bands. Then it worked like a charm. I learned a lot about my router because of this little glitch. The cameras are mounted with a simple screw thread mount. If you find the mounts that are included not to your liking, you can use any standard photo equipment mount that uses a ¼ inch thread. Since I had mounted mine under the eaves, I needed to purchase different mounts than what was included, due to the fact that the mounts were not able to turn or pivot to my liking. I really like the color night vision. I had another brand name camera that only had black and white night vision and could not figure out what kind of animal was always walking through my yard. After putting the Arlo cameras up and being able to see the animal in color, I was finally able to figure out that it was a possum. I have both Google and Amazon smart displays and like the fact that I can just ask either one to show me what is on a particular camera at anytime. The integrated spotlight goes off when there is motion detected and should deter burglars and other undesirables of both human and animal varieties. Without any Arlo Secure plan, you get notifications to your phone for motion detection and view live video streaming. You really need to subscribe to an Arlo plan to get most features like access to cloud saved videos, smart activity zones and other useful features. I find this VERY helpful when I am away from home and want to check in to see what has been happening while I was gone. Plans start at $5.99 per camera or you can get a plan for unlimited cameras for as little as $12.99 a month. When using the Arlo app, you are able to carry on a two-way conversation through the cameras and since they have noise cancelling audio you are better able to hear what people are saying with ease. Another brand name camera I had, made it impossible to hear people when any kind of wind was blowing. Arlo once again gives great quality and captures good video for the price and I highly recommend these to anyone wanting to have a more secure home or just to capture wildlife around your house.

    Great Cameras

I have tried a few different security cameras, from different manufacturers, both inside and outside. This offering from Arlo is a good set to get you started on being able to keep an eye on your home. Setup was pretty simple. I made to charge each of the cameras up before pairing them in the app. I made sure to take each camera to the part of my home I wanted to install it. I needed to make sure that my WiFi signal was strong enough to get a consistent connection to each camera. Once I verified that I was able to get a good signal, I followed the steps in the app to finish pairing it to my account, and anchoring each camera in place. I love that the image is super clear, and you can even see some colors at night. You get some controls on how you want notifications coming in to your device. I have had the cameras mounted for a little over a week now, and battery life is still close to full so it looks like the longer battery life they claim should hold up. Between the clear image, spotlight, 2-way radio, long battery life, and color nightvision. This might be my favorite security cameras to date. You also get a trial of their security software which does a great job of organizing your alerts and keeps 30 days of recording. You could go all in with some extra pieces of hardware and build a robust security system with these 3 cameras. It has me considering changing from another security provider to them. I really like the app and cameras. An easy recommendation for someone trying to build up their own security system.

Arlo continues to lead the way in DIY home security with the Essential XL, but, while the camera is wonderful, the app needs some work. You get what you pay for and if you do not want to subscribe, you get a very slimmed down version of the camera. Out of the box you get tue 3 cameras, a charging cable, and 3 wall mounts with screw kits. The cameras are super heavy. I have old arlo cameras that are magnetically held to the mount. These are too heavy and require to be mechanically affixed to the wall. That being said, installation is a breeze and before long we were up and running. Performance wise, these cameras are fantastic. They are capable of 30 day cloud recording, motion detection - person/vehicle/animal, package detection, smoke and co2, and 24/7 emergency response. The problem is that this is only included with your 4.99-17.99/month fee. For free you get live video, basic motion, and 2 way talk. No recording at all. These cameras perform extremely well. The picture is super crisp and the sound functions are top notch. The battery life is crazy long and I am yet to recharge them. Other than the fees, the camera works as advertised.

I’ve owned Arlo cameras for like five years now, I am a big fan. The reason I chose Arlo years ago instead of other competitors was because I thought that Arlo had the best prices for wireless home security cameras, while still being a big namebrand. The same could be said today. Since I’ve been using the Arlo app all these years, I am very familiar with it as you can imagine, updating mu cameras was really simple, you can do it all right there on the app. It was quick and simple and now my app looks newer, I was able to easily add these new cameras, along with my existing old ones, they are all there, very convenient . At 2K resolution, the image is super clear, better than my older 1080p cameras. Being able to see color with the infrared at night is also a very nice modern touch. One word of advice about this product is that the plastic wall mounts do rotator pet, at first glance they look like they are just one solid stationary piece, you can make the rotation of the cameras, a little easier by loosening up for small screws in the back of the plastic mount. OK, let’s talk about the actual app itself. You can do it all here, not only can you view all of your cameras , what they’ve recorded or even a live view, you can adjust everything from how sensitive you want the cameras to be to movements, the duration of each clip, whether you want the cameras floodlights to turn on with every movement, and also their brightness intensity, and many other things as well. Definitely good quality high definition cameras that are easy to set up an easy to Mount .

Exceptional Video Quality, Battery & Notifications

I've been testing the new Arlo Essential XL, 3-camera 2K security system for a week. Overall, I would definitely say these are among the best security cameras on the market. Since I already had some older Arlo cameras, installing and setting up the new ones was very easy. The only thing I didn't like about the mounting base is that it restricts the pitch of the cameras and makes it a bit tricky to take them down when it's time to charge. However, I was still able to maneuver them enough to point them in the directions I needed. As far as setup goes, the Arlo app easily detected and connected the new cameras directly to my Wi-Fi network, which is great because these cameras don't require a separate base station to operate. The Wi-Fi connection was consistently strong, and the video quality was excellent both day and night. Every captured event was recorded in high quality and was easily accessible in the Arlo app. Additionally, all events were clear enough for me to zoom in and see clear facial details from as far as 25 feet. The built-in spotlight is also a valuable feature. It provides enough light to illuminate a walking path and is an effective deterrent for intruders. The push notifications are also very informative. Whenever movement was detected, I received a thumbnail image with a square around the activity detection zone. Additionally, from the push notification, I had the option to activate the siren or alert emergency response. As for battery life, I would say it is pretty good. In a high-traffic area, it used 20% of its capacity. In a medium-traffic area, it used 10% of its capacity, and in a low-traffic area, it used 5% of its capacity. With all that said, I highly recommend these cameras. I love their combination of exceptional video quality, robust features, and informative push notifications. They are an excellent choice for anyone seeking a comprehensive home security solution.

    How Do They Do This?

While there are a lot of good ones out there, especially the wired types, the many security systems I’ve tried almost always had cons that were hard to deal with, but the most frustrating ones have been with those that are wireless. The most annoying issue is that battery life is usually terrible, requiring it to be charged at least a few times a week, which defeats the purpose when you’re away from home. Of course, many can be charged using solar power, but they depend on sunny days and the battery is the issue again. When that is not the case, they have poor resolution, Wi-Fi is subpar, and the list goes on and on. What is different about these Arlo cameras is that Wi-Fi works very well, which is surprising considering that battery doesn’t drain nearly as fast as I would expect for any type of wireless device. Not only that, but image quality is very good and clear for a 1080p resolution, including during nights. Interestingly, the light is very bright too. How do they do that with batteries that last weeks with one charge? I have no idea, but I wish they showed other manufacturers of wireless devices how it is done. The world would appreciate it. On top of everything I’ve described so far, installation couldn’t be easier. Are there any cons? Yes, one of them is that it requires a subscription to take full advantage of it. The other one is that resolution is only 1080p when many other systems out there already use 4K. These would have made me drop one star, but I was so impressed with the battery life and the clarity of the image, that it would be unfair to give it any lower rating. Also, a higher resolution would probably decrease the battery life. So, it is an excellent trade-off.

Arlo makes some amazing home security cameras and the Essential XL delivers on that history. Opening the box you are presented with some beautifully packaged cameras that are jammed packed with tech. Everything was very simple to setup and get put together. The longest time was spent on placing the cameras. Once I decided on a place to place them it was time to mount them- they are heavy forwarded. So securing them to a solid hold point Is a must! The casing is weather tight which was very nice to see. The batteries once charged should hold charge for a long time per Arlo which states they are 4x longer. Setting up through the app took a minute as I was constantly faced with issues of not searchable, but I rest my whole internet system and boom all connected. The app is a must as you need the cloud for saving recordings. Once all setup I had no issues with my mesh WiFi system for coverage as my home is over 2,500 sqft. The latency for live video was noticeable at a few seconds and recordings. Spot light feature is noticeable but not so noticeable that it illuminates the whole neighborhood. I would say it’s adequate for its purpose but could have been a little more. Just personal preference. Overall the cameras provide amazing images and notification day or night. These definitely allow me to keep a constant eye on what’s going on around the outside at anytime of the day.

If you're looking for a top-notch security camera that has it all, the Arlo Essential XL Spotlight Camera is the one for you. This camera delivers crystal-clear 1080p video, a super wide viewing angle, and color night vision so you can see everything that's going down, even when it's dark as night. With the Arlo Essential XL's 1080p resolution, you won't miss a single detail. You can spot faces, license plates, and even package deliveries with razor-sharp clarity. And with the wide 130-degree viewing angle, you can cover a ton of ground without having to install a bunch of cameras. The Arlo Essential XL's color night vision is a game-changer. Unlike most security cameras that only show black and white footage at night, the Arlo Essential XL uses a spotlight to illuminate the area around the camera. This means you can see everything in full color, even when it's pitch black outside. The Arlo Essential XL isn't just about seeing things; it's also about knowing what's going on. The camera uses advanced object detection technology to tell the difference between people, vehicles, packages, and animals. This means you'll only get alerts for things that matter, like when someone is on your property or when a package is delivered. Overall, the Arlo Essential XL Spotlight Camera is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a high-quality security camera.

I got these cameras to add to my home security. I already had an Arlo Smart doorbell and was able to connect the all products together! My husband was able to hang the cameras easily above our garage, patio and back doors. Connecting to our WiFi through the Arlo app was easy since we already had it. The cameras provide a clear picture both during the daytime as well as night. The app allows you to set up notifications as you like as well as go back to watch the video feed. The cameras are small in size and can easily be hidden from view if desired. I love being able to open the app and check on our home while we are out of town. I can see if packages have been delivered or if anyone is on our property. It gives me a since of security knowing that I can have evidence should something happen and I need to check the cameras for details/description. I also get a slight discount with my home owners insurance by having security cameras on my home-a nice added benefit! I would recommend these cameras to others who are looking for home security.

Ive been using the Arlo Essential XL 3-Camera Outdoor Wireless 2K Security Camera (2nd Generation) with Color Night Vision - White for a little while now and have loved it. I love that they are battery operated because I wanted them for my coop thats in the way back of our yard. The battery life of them has been great so far. I love that the cameras are small because i was able to install them with ease out of the way and still be able to get great coverage of the entire coop & run. These cameras show great quality at night which is what i needed. I was able to see what oredators were coming around at night and how they were trying to get into my coop. This allowed me to secure those areas more properly to protect my animals. I have used the motion detector more at night and it has been accurate each time. It hasnt drained the batteries much. It has a bright light on the caneras as well for when something or someone comes into frame. Overall i am enjoying the extra added protection that i get from these arlo cameras.

This review is on 3 Arlo Essential XL Outdoor Wireless 2K Security 2nd Generation Cameras. This product comes with 3 cameras. I already own an Arlo Doorbell, so setting up these 3 cameras was easy. I opened the Arlo app on my phone and hit the + sign. I selected cameras, then essential series and last the 2nd generation. All you have to do is hit the button on top of the camera for 3 seconds and click next in the app and it will quickly find the camera. When you select the camera to be added you then connect it to your Wi-Fi. I have my SSID hidden and the app will give you the option to input it manually. Once connected it will recognize that it has an update and immediately starts to install it. The update will take about five minutes. Once the update was done, my camera was ready. The 2nd camera that I tried to setup did not work when it got to the update. I had to delete camera and add it again three times before the update would work. The 3rd camera was as easy as the first. The app has a new look from the last time I used it with the doorbell. It now gives you the option to arm away, arm home and standby. On the dashboard you can setup different widgets but the only option I see is to add the camera view for each camera. The feed will show you captures. There is an emergency section that I decided not to setup right now. There is a devices section which is pretty much exactly like the dashboard. Last there is a routine section where you can arm your home when you leave and it will use geo to recognize that you have left. The picture quality and color is great! Night vision looks great too! The speaker is nice and loud if I want to talk through it at an intruder. Installation with the mount was easy but I would prefer to have magnets instead of a screw for when I am up high on a ladder trying to install. In the app you can choose to stop, mute, record, take a picture, use the mic to talk and turn on the security light which is bright. Another great feature when I logged in to the website was I could cast the video to another device if I wanted to. All of this works great with Alexa. I have not tried it through Google or IFTTT. It also comes with a free trial. Again, this is a great combo package to order if you are wanting to monitor multiple views around your home.
