Would not tell anyone to ever buy these lights. Motion sensor range is not good at all. Light isn’t bright, and pretty much useless

    LET THERE BE LIGHT!

I would like to preface this review by indicating that I received this product as part of their friends and family program but they have not reviewed or edited my thoughts in any way. I have long been an Arlo fan and have several throughout my home. I have both the wireless and wired models blanketing my home and this was the missing piece of the puzzle. Just like any of their other products, it acts a motion alert that will ping your phone. Through their intuitive interface, you are able to schedule how and why, and how long the lights will turn on. Want to do it by motion? Done. Want to do it by audio? No problem. Want to just have it on at certain times? Easy! I installed one in the front of my house and one in the back. Hopefully if anyone is thinking about doing anything illegal on my property now, they will get the feedback of the light to know that they are being watched! I highly recommend this product to anyone who is looking to secure their home!

As an existing Arlo user, I cannot recommend these enough. I have the Q and a pair of Pro 2s, and these are a welcome addition. Set up is a breeze through the Arlo app, and it only took 5 minutes to get both lights online. Using the QR code inside the light, the app quickly adds the lights into your device lineup. I had been in the market for new motion detector lights in my back yard, because my old hard-wired ones would trigger randomly, or if the wind blew. The motion detecting on these is accurate, and I have not had a single instance of these randomly turning on in the 3 weeks I’ve been using them. Battery life is strong, and depleted at about 10% a week out here in the AZ sun. Switching batteries to charge the units takes about 10 seconds each. The lights themselves are really spectacular. There are 2 modes- flood and spot, which dictate how wide the beam is. You will be very surprised by the brightness of these lights, and I do not recommend looking directly in them. You have infinite color options for the lights, whether you want to set ambiance outside or have it flash a color as a warning to an intruder. The coolest features come through the Arlo app and system. You can set times for the lights to turn on and off, or have them “armed” at certain times, if you don’t want them triggering during the day. You can also have them work seamlessly with your Arlo cameras to begin recording if motion is detected. All in all, I couldn’t be happier with these. If they came with solar panels, that would be a huge plus, but the batteries have a long life. I was happy to receive this product as part of NETGEAR’s First Look Review Program.

Even though I was told this would work without any other additional equipment, it did not. You needed a bridge which was 2 + the the cost of the light

Great addition to my new home

My wife and I just purchased and moved into a new home and security was the first thing we looked at. Netgear was nice enough to send us a couple of these lights as part of their NETGEAR First Look Review Program and they were both incredibly easy to set up as well as very bright and effective. The installation was as simple as three screws, and since they are battery powered (with rechargeable batteries) there was no need to run wire and find the nearest outlet to my desired location. I just picked a place the light up my driveway as well as my backyard and mounted them. I love that I have been able to control them by my phone as well as with my amazon alexa. I already intend on adding a couple of more lights around the exterior of our house. These are a great first step in our new homes smart security.

    Easy setup, good integration

I added the Arlo Security Lights to an existing Arlo setup, consisting of 3 basic Arlo wireless cameras and an Arlo Q. I found the setup to be very, very simple. The step by step directions on the app really makes setup idiot-proof. I already had the app on my phone and hit "Add Devices" and followed the instructions on the screen. I even mistyped my wifi password and was able to restart the setup process to completion with no problems. You can either have the security light operate independently or add "cross-triggering" mode so when one device is triggered, it activates another. I set it so that when the security light senses motion in my backyard, it turns on and tells my Arlo camera to start recording. I was impressed at how seamless it was to integrate the light into the Arlo system. Overall, I think the lights would be a good value. Although a simple LED motion sensing light would be less expensive, the notification and the control of the light working together with the Arlo system would justify the expense. Pros: - The setup process was a snap - Really bright light, I turned mine down to 50% to save batteries - Motion sensitivity is adjustable and worked very well out of the box Cons: - Personally, I think offering so many choices of light color is not necessary as white is the brightest and probably all that is needed. - The button to manually turn on the lights is shaped like a rectangle and it was not immediately obvious to me that this was the on/off switch because the other buttons on the app and website are shaped differently. Not a big deal but a small oddity to me. I received this light as part of the Netgear First Look Review Program.
