After installing this system to help watch over a family member, the base had to be replaced. I had to hop on a plane to perform the replacement. I have the camera’s attached to power so I don’t have to worry about battery replacement. The performance has been spotty at best. System goes offline and I have to perform multiple resets. These were our first set of cameras and I can say if we buy more we’ll try a different brand

Shopping around for a good multi-camera system, the arlo pro 2 caught my eye. It boasted all the features I was looking for, such as: Multi cam system Wireless* Batteries built in (and are rechargeable) The ability to listen and talk via the system no matter where you are! Night vision waterproof/outdoor proof With those being my top "must haves" - I thought this would be the system to go with. Sure it's more expensive than single camera systems. But is it worth the price? As for being wireless, this is true if you plan on using the system strictly indoors. However, if you want to use it outdoors, the folks at netgear/arlo appear to suggest you use it plugged in.. Seems kind of strange. There is one power adapter and cable included - but then it states one should use an "outdoor cable" when used outdoors (Not included). A main piece of the system is its base-station which must be plugged into your internet router. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. A nice feature of the base station is its built in 100db siren which you can enable to (?) scare off a burglar or nosy neighbor. With that bit out of the way... I can certainly appreciate the quality of the video streams TO ME it definitely appears to be 1080, unlike other reviews that state it is hard to tell the difference between a 720 stream. The audio, however, is a bit "wonky" when coming thru the camera's speaker. The night vision feature is, again, decent. Not the best I've ever seen - but certainly not the worst. When night vision is on, there is barely any color/contrast - and the stream ALMOST looks B&W. Yes, there are also dedicated Arlo apps on Google Play, App Store, and Amazon. They performed adequately for my use. Some may find the app lacking, but it "gets the job done" in my view (no pun intended). One of my favorite features is its free 7day video retention. Want to back it up? you can do that too by plugging a flash drive into the base station. This is a feature that I found myself wanting on other systems - that offered no local backup, and 24-48 hour retention only (what's the point in that??). You can also program 'zones' - which will immediately begin recording once motion is detected within. And once that occurs, you can get the system to immediately send you a mobile alert. i can definitely see this feature coming in handy when I am out of town for any length of time. The hardware/mounts are very stable in my experience. I felt like the mounts and cameras would stay up wherever they are placed without any issues. The WiFi connection from cameras to the base-station is sufficient IMO. The box boasts a 300ft 'line of sight" range. I found this to be true, and it would go even further depending on what objects were in the way. The unit runs off of the 2.4Ghz band. Which is plenty fast. Though, I can see why 5Ghz wasn't used (less range due to larger "signals"). But, the option should still have been offered - as higher speed=less lag=greater performance. Some would definitely trade less range for that type of performance increase. So is this worth the price? Yes... and No... Yes, because it is feature packed, and a solid product. And has features and functions that other systems in this price range lack. No, because some of the issues I pointed out above. At the end of the day, i see myself putting this system to use on a daily basis. And most likely, you will too!

Ok, I had the highest hopes for this camera system, Arlo PRO 2 4 camera set. I really did. These are ridiculously overpriced for the quality. The lag before recording begins is awful. And if you have any sort of light at all on the nighttime settings, just forget about ever seeing the persons face! It will wash out any facial recognition that someone would possibly be able to identify the perpetrators by. The battery and wireless thing sounds cool, but this was 800 bucks I regret spending. It’ll definitely be returned today. Oh, and notifications will drive you INSANE!!! These things are miles behind and competition such as the nest or ring. Basically, if you want a really fancy motion detector, these are for you!!! I’d leave no stars on the rating if I could! JUNK!!!

Cameras worked ok until the HUB got unplugged from router accidentally. When I connected the HUB back to the router, the Arlo app would not recognize the HUB. I’ve contacted support through chat more than once and support was not helpful. I had to wait more than 30 minutes to even get support to chat.

Im really frustrated. I spent several hours (20) on the phone with Arlo techs as well as comcast techs I even paid for a comcast tech to come to my house, thinking something was not compatible with the comcast modem/router. Turns out the comcast modem should work. The signal was strong, even showed a IP number, but the Arlo Base unit just keeps flashing amber. After calling Arlo tech support again they decided to send me a new base unit... that was two weeks ago. im still waiting! Please help,, I m thinking about returning the Arlo Pro 2 Thank You
