I have truly enjoyed owning the original Netgear Arlo Pro WiFi indoor outdoor security cameras for about a year. I really wanted to add additional cameras so I was excited to get the Arlo Pro 2 system. My only disappointment with the original Pro’s was their lack of true HD video. That issue is history with the Arlo Pro 2 which now supports 1080p. Upon arrival it is evident that otherwise there has been no substantial design changes in regard to appearance. No problem there. Why mess with a good thing. Unboxing was easy enough. Included are two cameras, two rechargeable batteries, a charging adapter with cable, two magnetic wall mounts, the base station, a power adapter, ethernet cable, and a basic manual. I cannot stress enough how easy and quick the Arlo is to setup. Download the Arlo app and create an account. Plug in your base station and connect it to your router using the included ethernet cable. Pop a battery into a camera and hit the sync button on the base station. Hit the sync button on the camera. Repeat for camera two. Done! If you already have an Arlo system system it’s only a matter of syncing your new cameras to your existing base station and you’re up and running. Next you’ll want to head into the app and adjust some settings. Name your cameras based on location. Use the position mode to aid you while placing the cameras where you want them. Here you can see the live video while you position your cameras. Then determine how you want your cameras armed. You can manually set them as armed, disarmed, or set up a schedule, or use geofencing. I use geofencing for my needs. This is a sweet feature. Through the app Arlo uses your phone location services to know when you’re away from home and automatically arms the camera when you depart. Likewise when you return home the cameras are disarmed. You can also add family members to the account so Arlo also detects their phones so you’re only arming the system when no one is home. You get a notification on your phone when the cameras arm or disarm. Of course you also get notifications when the camera detects any motion or sound while armed. You can adjust the sensitivity of these within the app. You get both a phone notification on your phone and an email which includes a photo of the detected motion. The recorded video is also uploaded to the cloud for you to view. You get 7 days of free cloud storage for free. In the event that you determine something is wrong at home you can enable a 100 decibel siren on the base station via your phone’s Arlo app. The cams only record when they detect motion so battery life is amazing. If you want to you can also sign up for a 14 day CVR (continuous video recording) account for $99 a year. You get a 50% discount for additional cameras. So two cams would be $150 a year. Not bad at all if you need CVR. To use the CVR feature the camera must be connected using a power adapter. Upon getting the Arlo Pro 2 setup and putting it though it’s paces I must say the video quality on these is much better than the original. Owning the older model it is easy to compare the old to the new. It is 1080p after all so it looks much crisper with finer detail. As other users have noted there does appear to be an issue with the night vision on the new Arlo Pro 2. It appears washed out with less detail and less distance than the older model. I am hoping that Netgear will address this issue with a firmware update. Another issue with Arlo has been that from time to time the system fails to disarm upon returning home. Geofencing for some reason has failed to detect my arrival. Seems like the issue only started a few months ago so I’m hoping it’s corrected with an update. One disappointment I have with Netgear is that Arlo is an indoor and outdoor camera system but they only provide the indoor magnetic camera mounts. You would think they would at least include one outdoor mount. I now can’t imagine life without my Arlo. It just gives me such peace of mind having a security system in place. I also just love the ability to view live video via the app at anytime. I use this feature often just to check on what’s going on at home inside and outside the house. I tune in sometimes just to check the weather at home while I’m out on the road for work. Better yet you can also talk through the app and be heard on the cam at home since the cams have two way audio with speakers and mics. Another very cool feature is If you have an Amazon Fire Tv box you can use Alexa to view your Arlo cameras on your TV. Great way to check the patio or driveway when your upstairs. Other than a few minor issues the Arlo Pro 2 is a remarkable device due its product quality and ease of use. Highly recommended.

This item is unreliable. It will kick you off the app when your usuing it and you would have to resign on completely. This is not a good thing when you need to check on your baby st that precise moment. The cameras also have a 5 second delay in video and in audio. It is very inconvenient. If you are posting your camers in the wall you have to remove them daily to change them which is completely crazy. I have only had this product for several months and there is no way around these issues. I have gonna back and forth with arlo and best buy and both places will not offer a refund for a defective product which you deem unreliable. They want to force you to keep the product. I spent all day on the phone with incompetent people. DO NOT BUY!!!

This system did not even last a year. I started having problems with this system around 8 months where the cameras would last two weeks then I would need to charge them. Now at around a year the cameras stop connecting to the base station. I have to unscrew my camera, bring it near the base station, take out the battery, leave it for 10 minutes and put it back together. It will connect to the base station after approximately 5 minutes after battery is inserted. I have to do this to every camera every 5 to 10 days. This systems is total trash and won’t last long at all. You can see my purchase history and see I’m already having so many issues. For the money I paid for this system to last 1 year is ridiculous!! I will never purchase an Arlo product.

Wireless, 1080p, Alerts and Alarm, Great System!

The Arlo Pro 2 wireless home security cameras are a great addition to my house. Having these cameras means that I can now look in on my dogs when I am away from home, I know when packages are delivered and I can tell if anyone is snooping around. The system includes an extremely loud alarm that can be activated using the app or set to activate when motion is detected. Be careful testing this alarm because it is deafeningly loud, which is great! The added security and peace of mind is well worth the cost in my opinion. Plus you get 7 days of free cloud recordings and have the option of adding up to two USB flash drives for backup storage. The app is user friendly and has a lot of great options for setting up motion detection, alerts, geo-fencing and more. The cameras were really easy to set up but I wish the included mounts were held to the wall with more than one screw each, it seems stable but at this price an extra screw would be nice. The picture quality is fantastic and you can zoom in and pan around using the app. The motion detection works perfectly and can send you notifications and/or emails when motion is detected. If you hardwire the cameras you can set specific motion zones so that it will only send an alert if motion is detected in that specific zone. The battery life is supposed to last for up to 4 months but I suspect I’ll have to charge them about once per month based on my current usage. This isn’t too bad for me, they are in easy to reach locations and charge with the included USB cord on any outlet. I like that Arlo is an expandable home security system that allows me to buy additional cameras and accessories as they become available. I’ve been so impressed with the system that I’m considering getting a couple more cameras this coming Black Friday. I would highly recommend the Arlo Pro 2 camera system to anyone looking to add more security to their home, or anyone who just wants to peek in on the pets from time to time.

For your average Joe who just wants to have some peace of mind while they are at work or on vacation, the Arlo Pro 2 system is a good option. The wireless cameras can be powered by wire or via battery. Wired opens up some more beneficial features like constant recording. Obviously, with a battery based system, it relies on a trigger before recording. Otherwise, you'd eat up all of your storage. As is, right out of the box, you get 7 days of free cloud storage for your video. Setup was incredibly easy. Plug into your home router, turn on cameras, and press the sync button. Arlo has a very nice app as well as web based access which has a lot of features. Build quality is quite nice. The cameras are sturdy, look professional, and all kinds of add-ons/accessories to make them fit your needs. The packaging looked very cheap so they could improve that. Functionality-wise, the Arlo 2 Pro provide a good level of monitoring. You get alerts directly to your phone if something triggers your system. From there, you can view live (slight delay) video/audio as well as talk. So if you see an unwanted visitor on your doorstep, you can scare them away by letting them know they are being recorded or you're calling the cops, etc. Daytime picture quality is excellent. I'd give nighttime quality 3.5 stars. That being said, there's not a lot of cameras that can do good nighttime pictures--even on our expensive $1,000 iPhones. In conclusion, I'd say that the Arlo Pro 2 is a great system for someone looking to provide some basic security/surveillance for their home/office. For $500, I think it's an excellent system. Pros: -Functionality -Ease of Setup -Style/build quality -Two way audio function Cons: -Night video/picture quality -Packaging

Liked the product from the start. Two family members purchased based on my experience. Unfortunately Arlo changed their business model which eliminated the primary reason I bought this over others. No monthly service fees! I want to add more cameras to my system and I’ve discovered that all the additional cameras they now offer require a monthly fee to record anything (used to be free for 7 days). For the PRO2 You can only buy a complete system or refurbished cameras as it appears that they are phasing them out. I’ve found a different brand of camera system that does not require a monthly fee. I’ve already ordered it and will completely get rid of my 1.5 year old Arlo system.

This Arlo system is pretty easy to set up, and is accessible through the Arlo app on phone/tablet or computer via Arlo's webpage. The camera's and mounting are also easy to set up. Just pop the battery into each camera (which is secured by a little tab (push down tab to remove battery)) and the camera mounts to a magnetic ball mount. The magnet hold is very strong and you can reposition the camera to many angles on the mount. It also has a threaded base on the bottom as another way to mount if you choose. There are many options available in your account on the app or webpage as far as setting your cameras up and also gives you a step by step set up once you have the app installed and make an account. You must have a wireless router on your internet in order to run these cameras and you must have your phone/tablet/computer on the same wifi during setup. After setup is done then you can access your camera's from your account on any network so you can watch your camera feed while at work or wherever. The camera is activated by motion detection, but there is also an option to have the camera activate by noise detection as well. It does takes a bit of searching to get to all the arming options, but it's not overwhelming. You can also set up a schedule for your cameras to be armed only during specific times, or set up Geo-fencing on your phone so when you leave your house it automatically arms the cameras. When armed, If motion or audio is detected the camera will send a notification to your phone and also an email to let you know there was activity and your camera will record until the motion or audio stops. You can also change in your settings how you want to be notified of detection. After the video is recorded it goes into your cloud library. There are multiple options available for cloud recordings but Arlo gives you 7 days worth of recordings for free, which is on a rolling week, so if you don't review your video's from 7 days ago, they will be deleted on the 8th day. You can also hook up a USB storage drive to the home base for back up storage options. If you leave your camera's plugged into the wall indoors you get a whole other world of recording options like 24/7 cloud recording with an upgraded plan, activity zones to help pinpoint motion detection to a specific area of your cameras view, and a 3 second recording advance on detection. The video and sound quality has been very good in daylight and night vision. The night vision range is decent but deteriorates after about 30 feet. The camera also has 2 way audio that you can set up so you can talk to people/pets through the camera if your not home, and the home base has a siren on it you can activate manually or automatically with motion detection. It is pretty ear piercing but would recommend putting the home base where it is not easily unpluggable if someone was to break into your home. You can also activate recording manually and watch a live feed any time, but only seems to record in around 28 min intervals. I tried recording 2 hours of live feed but it only saved two 28 minute segments. You can also turn your cameras on and off through the app or webpage to save battery, but remember it won't record until you turn them back on. The battery life is pretty good. After 4 days of scheduled recording for 8 hours each day the battery is at 60%. Of course there are other variables but the battery seems pretty good so you don't have to charge them all the time. There are also many accessories available, one of which is a solar charge panel so you can hook it up outside on a permanent power source, which I plan to get soon. The kit only comes with one wall charger so if you plan to "hardwire" the cameras, you will have to buy more wall plugs. Overall I would definitely recommend this. It does great as a wireless system, and even better as a wired system. It would be nice to get the wired options as a wireless option but obviously not set up like that to save the battery. There is an extra cost involved to use the advanced recording options but what you get for free is pretty good too.
