Not Happy With Arlo Pro 2
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't like how it is constantly recording. I tried to set the zone, but says it has to be plugged in to set zone. Records hundreds of short videos and doesn't record all of the video. I have the Ring doorbell and the zone setting is so nice, It has lapse recording and so much easier to view the videos. If someone is in my yard the Ring records it until they leave. Arlo only gets part of it. Do not like at all and I bought the 4 camera system. Not happy, wish I could return it.

Fixed all of the problems with the original Arlo!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will start by saying I own the original Arlo HD cameras. They were great, but they had their flaws. Netgear definitely listened to their customers and fixed all the problems that they had with them. They look very similar to the original Arlo cameras, very small and sleek looking design that will blend in and people wont even know they are there. The setup was very easy. All you have to do is download the Arlo app, then plug in your base station and connect it via ethernet cable to your router. Then just fire up the app and it will find the base station in a matter of seconds. Then all you have to do is sync up the cameras to the base station which is also very easy. Hold down the sync button on the base station for a few seconds, then hod down the sync button on the camera for a couple seconds and they find each other. You can have the whole system up and running in a matter of minutes! As a previous owner I can verify that the batteries last for months in these cameras without having to be recharged. So you can easily mount them somewhere and forget about them for a while. Mounting couldn't be easier too! They come with 2 magnetic mounts so you can easily stick them up on the wall and remove them when you need to without having to remove and screws. The 1080p video quality is a step up from the original cameras...they are very crisp and clear in bright light, or even in pitch black conditions. One big complaint about the previous version was the speaker on the cameras. It used to be very quiet and you couldn't hear if someone was talking through the camera. Thankfully that has been fixed! Now the audio is a lot louder and you can clearly hear someone talking to you through the camera. The app is where these cameras really shine. I love how programmable it is. I have tried other cameras like this in the past and they were very limited in their features. Most people don't want their cameras on all the time when they are home. With this app, you can program them to only be on when you know you will be gone. I have them set up to come on when I go to work, and turn off when I get home. They also have the geofence option that will turn the cameras on and off based on the signal from your cell phone letting it know if you are close by or away from the house. While there is a subscription service, there is also a free subscription that I find is more than adequate. It will send you alerts when motion is detected, send you an email with a still image, and save the video for up to 7 days. That's more than enough for most average users. You can also plug in a thumb drive to the base station and it will record all of the videos on there as well so the system will still work even if your internet is out. Overall I would highly recommend this system to anyone looking for a wireless security system. Easy to use, expandable, great video quality, and tons of customization features!

Unable to keep off the Internet.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Can only be viewed on your phone was unable to download an app for my Mac. Was pretty uneven when I received an e-mail that told me my battery was low on the camera. Probably was in the fine print but wasn’t expecting that.

Hit and Miss when they are working
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I could not recommend this product. I feel that it was a waste of $500. I waited several months before I reviewed it. The cameras are a hit and miss when they work properly, the review recordings don’t show up when they say there is a recording. The cameras record for no reason. The recording video is excellent when it works. To go live with someone takes about 90 seconds and there gone when connected

Wow, the easy network item I've ever installed
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this today fedex and I always dread network items. I'm a certified network specialist, but just do it for a hobby not a career. That said I opened the box to see what goodies it had in store for me. There are the two cameras, a base unit (not to big), ac adapter, usb and 110 adapter for charging, two batteries (one for each camera), two magnetic bases for the camera and a lan cable. I read the included quick start manual and as usual, it looked too simple, but this time is was simple. Everything worked like the manual stated. The batteries were fully charged. I plugged them both in and attempted to charge them, but the light blinked for a few then went dark. I installed the app on my Pixel and signed up. It showed my item on the app and I chose it, it had me create an account and had the free cloud service as the first option, not hidden somewhere to get you to sign up for a paid plan like so many websites do. Once finished I held the large round button on the base unit down for 2 seconds and then the top button on the camera for 2 seconds and it linked camera to base and to the app. The app said to do the second camera the same way and it worked great. Everything was working great for 5 seconds. Then the app said the base unit needed a firmware update. Cool, it took about 5 minutes and then it said the cameras were offline. No instructions and no Google love, so I tried reconnecting them to the base unit and tada, both cameras were visible again. Then the first time I hit live view on each camera, they needed a firmware update. The cameras took a bit longer, or I was less on patience by then, but they blinked orange and blue and then finished. Once that was completed these things just work. I've got one in my garage so I can see if anyone is out there or if the door is open. The other I haven't decided yet. I'm thinking outside by the front door if I can find a hiding spot. These cameras are held on by a magnet base so they can be taken. There not cheap so I don't want to lose one. So even with the firmware updates and re-connection issue, these are by far the easiest network product I've ever added to my home network. The cameras are portable and give a great picture. The app has split screens with room to add additional cameras (I believe this model is up to 5). I'm pretty happy with the overall setup. I just need to see what the battery life is like, but that's going to take some time. If there is any negative and this is being picky, I think the rubber USB cover doesn't fit well and the cord that attaches it to the camera doesn't tuck back in the unit well so the fit is sloppy. Since the port is how you charge the battery, one would want to keep that port clean and dry. The cover should fit tight to keep it that way.

Nice Camera Set to Start Out With
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really liked the Arlo Wire Free Camera. It was fairly easy to set up (more on that in a bit) and operate. One bonus is that the batteries are fully charged with they leave the factory, so there is no waiting to use the cameras once they are set up. You register the unit on the Arlo web site, which allows you to view your video (along with saved clips), and change the settings on your cameras. I found that the motion detection was almost TOO good for indoors, so I dialed down the sensitivity. The mounts are magnetic, allow easy installation and removal of cameras for charging, change in placement, etc. Another great feature is that there isn't a subscription to set up an account and view your video feed. I only gave the unit 4 stars, however, for the following issues: (1) It is not truly "wire free". You need a LAN cable hookup for the base of the unit. The CAMERAS are wire free, just not the base. I'm not sure why it is set up that way. I was able to set it up on one of my wireless mesh nodes, using its spare Ethernet port. (2) The unit came with two cameras, but I could only get one to sync with the base unit. I tried charging the unit and went through the syncing steps a few more times, to no avail. The first camera synced right away. All in all, I think it's a good starter set to have for home security.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are too many misinformation I received. Arlo technical support representatives are not professional. I do not feel comfortable dealing with them. They tried to charge to remove virus infection on arlo camera and tried to sell to resolve the matter, but I am not sure they are telling the truth. They are bunch of dishonest sales people, not Technical support person, who are trying to sell additional repair services, registration expenses and monthly service fees, but I am not sure if it is fraudulent division of sub-company. Suspicious!

Great for Monitoring Elderly Parents
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My Review after Three Weeks. Setup: Setup was easy and took less than 30 minutes including the installation of the cameras. My old Lorex system took me two full days. I have one on the front door and one on the back. I like being notified when packages are siting on my front door. Features: This camera system can do everything. There are too many features to list, but I enjoy the longer life batteries and the optional hardwiring feature. This is a substantial improvement over my other Arlo Wireless system. Night vision works great at close range and even caught possums crossing my alarm zone. Performance: Im using Xfiniti Wifi and an Iphone5. The Arlo app works great and the camera system has been performing without any problems. Visibility is very clear at night, especially if the porch or a street light is on. Learning all the settings and features on the app is very fast. I could very easily arm, disarm, or customize each camera according to individual preferences. One aspect to know at this point is that setting up activity zones can be done only through plugging in the cameras. The two way voice works very well and is so helpful to talk to people at the door from inside the house. -Other great features: Arlo provides free 7 days cloud recording up to 1GB of data with more plans available. Adding a local hard drive to the base is great. The smart siren is loud and a great feature to see what is going on outside when motion or activity is detected. The system can add more cameras, solar charging panels, and different covers for the cameras Expectations: This system exceeded my expectations and a significant improvement over the previous Arlo Wireless system. Total setup time was less than 30 minutes compared to my two full days of setting up my Lorex system I purchased a few years ago at Costco. The setup time alone is worth the price. Price-Value: If you factor in setup time compared to a wired system the time savings alone is huge. I did receive this system for free through the friends and family program, so I was impressed to the point that I did buy a system for my older parents. Recommendations: For Sure… I already purchased a system for my parents and my friend just purchased one for his small business at my recommendations. I purchased a second system to install in my elderly parents house. I also gave permission for my brothers to access as well, so any of us can monitor them for any possible medical reasons.

Easy to Use, Tons of Features, Solid Performance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Arlo Wireless camera security system has been among the top systems over the last years with the Arlo Pro 2 adding more features and better reliability and performance to the initial Arlo system Among the newer features that the Arlo Pro 2 adds are: high definition video (1080p) with crisper and clearer video, wider angles covering large areas, 2-way audio for listening and talking back, smart alert siren, local back up on a usb hard drive, and setting up specific activity zones. -Set Up: the Arlo Pro 2 took about 10 minutes to set up. Once the base unit was connected to the modem, and the android app was downloaded, every thing went very smooth in finding the cameras and selecting the desired features. NetGear provides at this point helpful hints and video clips on the Arlo's web page. Watching these helps with how the set up and use the desired features and capabilities of the system. -Performance: My internet Wi-Fi is 60Mgps provided by Charter, and my phone is a Samsung note 5. The Arlo android app works great and the camera system has been performing without any problems. I have moved the cameras both inside and outside and performance has been very solid in both situations. Visibility is very clear at night, especially if the porch or a street light is on. Learning all the settings and features on the android app is very fast. For example, one could very easily arm, disarm, or customize each camera according to individual preferences. One aspect to know at this point is that setting up activity zones can be done only through cable connecting the cameras, so not when they run on batteries. The two way voice works very well and is so helpful to talk to people at the door from inside the house. -Other great features: Arlo provides free 7 days cloud recording up to 1GB of data with more plans available. Adding a local hard drive to the base is great. The system also works with the amazon Alexa on the Echo Show or Fire TV. The smart siren is loud and a great feature to see what is going on outside when motion or activity is detected. The system can add more cameras, solar charging panels, and different covers for the cameras. I totally recommend the Arlo Pro 2 to anyone who wants to have peace of mind when it comes to security matters. It performs very well with no problems if you follow the provided hints and instructions. Buy an Arlo Pro 2 today and will surely enjoy it! (Paul Botica for the NetGear Test & Review)

Just get one
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of the box, the Arlo Pro 2 security system hit the ground running! I was really impressed that the batteries came fully charged from the factory. I was able to pair the two cameras to the base and mount them immediately. When you open the box, the first thing you are instructed to do is install the app which is available on all platforms. You can also go to the Arlo website from a computer. Next you connect the base, sign up for an account and pair the cameras. There are several options for the account, which stores the video in the cloud. The basic version is free, will work up to five cameras and you can upgrade to handle up to 15 cameras. The cost is reasonable and the higher subscriptions hold more files longer. You can download the files. You can also purchase a continuous video option. You can connect a USB drive to one of the two USB ports on the back of the base station for local storage but you still have to have the online account. Running on battery, the cameras records when it senses motion, the video is uploaded to the cloud and you get an email indicating motion has been sensed. This works just fine. You can purchase the option to capture a constant recording if needed. The batteries are large and look like they will hold a charge for a decent amount of time. I have not needed to recharge yet. The system will allow you to define motion areas but the cameras have to be connected to a power source for this to happen, and only one charger/power source ships with the kit. Speaking of charging, the system uses the Qualcomm quick charge technology so you have to use an Arlo charger, not just any micro-USB charger you have lying around. (or so they say, I’ve not tried it yet) The base station has a siren but it seems the user must activate this remotely. I LOVE the Arlo Pro 2 security system and recommend it to anyone looking for an easy to set up, feature rich camera system. The video and audio are crisp and clear and you view via the app or computer online. I am using one of the cameras to monitor access to a specific room of my house and learned quickly that using a personal email account during setup may be a mistake for this arrangement and established an email just for the system. Oh, and yea, Alexa, show me the front door! I feel I’ve only scratched the surface; Netgear has packed so much into the Arlo Pro 2 system, you just need to get one of your own.

Worst customer service EVER!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Camera was stolen 12/17/2018, I reported it to the police and emailed the report and proof of purchase as required by arlo to replace the camera. Received nothing but run around from the untrained tech support staff, having to repeat every detail each time I called. Managers and corporate officers do not make themselves available for complaints by phone, rather only by snail mail. Additionally, the cameras only worked a couple of times with Google/NVIDIA Shield TV and now can’t stream to my TV. This was reported the day I received and installed the camera and has yet to be addressed by tech support.

Terrible system !! Had me awake all night.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I returned it.. the only fix from Arlo was to pay 15.00 a month to control the sensors on something that I own.. I returned it immediately and Best Buy in Vineland NJ and Philly for that matter could not have been more helpful... They were both equally incredible... I bought the Lorex system and I'm sooo glad that I returned the Arlo system... What a waste..
