2 of 4 cameras broke after 1 1/2 years
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Two of the cameras have broken in the same way. Seems to be an issue of power connection to the battery. Out of warranty and Arlo won’t fix them unless under warranty. Only option is to throw them away. I refuse to buy new cameras and wait until they also fail in 1 1/2 years. Will wait until they all fail and then find a more reliable system. No long term product reliability. Poor customer service if they can’t support any product out of warranty.

Best on the Market
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used the Arlo Pro 1 for about a year now and was very excited when the new version came out with 1080p video and I can say the Arlo Pro 2 is definitely an improvement over the already great Arlo Pro 1. The video itself looks great. The cameras support 1080p video that looks considerably better than the 720p feed from the previous version. There cameras still feature a great wide angle lens and night vision that make for great video quality and coverage say and night. The cameras also include a few new tricks like continuous monitoring if they are plugged in. This makes it so that you can get the free seconds before a trigger actually occurs. This is a really cool feature that could definitely come in handy. The base station itself still features what I believe is all the same features as last model. The Siren is load and will for sure scare someone off. The Arlo and works great, it is easy to use to check live feed and supports many features like schedules, Geo fencing, and even features Smart Things integration. With the free version you can save up to 7 days of video. Which from my understanding, is more than most competitors. There is also a paid subscription that allows you to record up to 30 days of video. The one draw back to the cameras is the number you can have on one system, 5. If you need more for a larger house you would need to pay an extra subscription cost. This hasn't been a problem for me sincerely 4 is plenty for my house. Overall, I'd say these are the most full featured and easy to use smart cameras on the market. They definitely offer more on the free plan than any other competitor.

Microphone doesn't work and laag
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Microphone only seems to work in Chrome browser. Even when it does, after you are finished talking the audio cuts out. Looking online this seems to be a known issue for several years. Considerable delay in video feed from motion detection point and live mode. Constantly getting my session expired in a browser, requiring logging back in with new SMS verification code each time. Not worth the money, I will be returning it to the store.

Exceptional clarity for a small camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't be fooled by the size of the camera. The picture it captures is remarkable. In full view the picture is as crisp and sharp almost to the point of being 4k clear. The picture looks great in both low light and a bright room. Before I go into too much detail on the picture I'll start with the setup. About as simple as it can get. One thing to note, you do need to plug the base unit into an Ethernet jack, no wifi for the base station. Once that is done, power it up and as soon as the green lights come on, it's ready to pair the cameras. Similar to a WPS button on a router, press the pair button on the base and then the one on the camera, give the flashing light a few seconds and you're paired. I did two camera in less than thirty seconds. I used the "store" for my phone and downloaded the app. Followed the instructions and the app and the base station were in sync. Overall setup took less than 10 minutes. Now, I've already mentioned that the picture quality is outstanding. Now the nice thing is you can adjust camera brightness, sound levels both hearing and speaking and of course recording video. One thing to note if you turn on notifications, it is very good at notifying you when motion is detected, almost too good. I received 18 notification in the span of the first 6 minutes the cameras were up and running. Once I found the setting you can adjust the sensitivity of motion and to only send alerts during certain times, like when no one should be home. You can also turn it off completely if this is not an issue. Overall, these cameras are a very good choice for a home monitoring/surveillance system.

They did it again - but better!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My experience with the Arlo brand by Netgear is pretty advanced. I've used the first generation Arlo's for about a year and a half now, and have used several of the Arlo Q. I loved the fidelity of the Q, but convenience and rugged build of the original Arlo. Netgear was able to make the perfect product for me by combining the two. I get my 1080P stream while being able to really put the things anywhere. Overall setup through the app is super simple, and takes less than 15 minutes from startt to finish. Simply plug the base into your router, downlload the app, pair, and you are off! I was personally linking to my existing Arlo account, so it was just adding additional cameras (and turning off my original Arlos). I've been using the cameras for a couple of days, and have nothing but positive things to say. I've checked in remotely several times to see in HD that my golden retriever is sleeping away in my back yard. I've checked in to make sure that the cars are perfectly safe. I also purchsed one of the solar panels that allows the cameras to work in CVR mode which is really cool! Means that I never have to recharge/change the batteries on my Arlo, even when I put them in locations far from power. Overall, this product is a 5/5. My only complaint that I've ever had with an Arlo product is the app in relation to the arming modes. I would love to use location, but I have found it to be too inconsistent. Instead I just have it record any motion with no alert. Wish that was a little better. Please note that I received this product as part of a test program and I did not purchase the product.

Incredibly Simple Setup, HQ Videos- A+!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had an Arlo Q used indoors for sometime, and love the Arlo app interface, and the continued support and updates from NETGEAR. I've long been curious about the outdoor "stick anywhere" cameras, and was excited to give these a try. Setup was simple, especially being a current Arlo user. The only confusion came when I tried to add the cameras first, but should have added the base station- THEN the cameras. All in all, setting these up took 10 minutes. Keep in mind you must plug this into a router. The base itself is not wifi capable. The kit includes some magnetic mounts to hang on indoor/outdoor walls. The magnets in the cameras are very strong- and do a great job holding the cameras securely and at the desired position/angle. The video quality is extremely high (1080p). The sound can be a bit muffled, but the primary function in my home is video surveillance. The cameras have stood up to cool evenings and rain. i'm curious to see how the batteries do in an Arizona summer. I turned off audio recording, and noticed a dramatic boost in battery life. When batteries are low, you get notifications via email/the app. Very easy to charge them. The siren is nearly deafening. A great deterrent if needed. The 2 way audio is also a great feature, especially if used for monitoring child rooms or play areas. All in all, this is a great, user friendly camera setup. Anyone can set it up, and everyone will receive great benefits from the security it offers. I received the Arlo Pro 2 Wire-Free Security System with 2 HD Cameras from NETGEAR as part of a review and test program

Worst purchase yet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't remember the last time I regretted a purchase as much as this one. I bought these cameras to protect my 2nd home. BIG MISTAKE! If you want something you can rely on for a property you don't live at, don't make the same mistake. Sure these are fine if you are home and want to reset and recharge them daily. Three cameras and only 1 has worked this entire week. Two showing offline for a solid week. Tech support is worthless, just like these cameras.

The Next Best Thing To Wired Systems!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I definitely love my new Arlo Pro 2 Wireless Security Camera System! It was a cinch to install and set up and has actually exceeded my expectations. The only thing that has kept me from giving it a 5 star rating is the fact that more than once, even though the camera had a good WiFi signal, it went offline and I had to physically remove the battery for it to re-establish connection to my network, In addition, when it does go offline, it apparently uses up most, if not all, battery life trying to reconnect to the system if you aren't able to rectify the problem right away. Other than that, I believe this to be the best alternative to a wired system. I would definitely recommend this to friends and family. If the connection to my network remains constant in the future, I would easily change my rating to 5 stars. I am still happy with my purchase.

Great resolution
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have the Arlo base station and 2 Arlo Pro cameras, but was interested in an upgrade to the camera resolution. It turned out that the new cameras paired easily with my old base station. I’ll keep the extra base unit as a backup if needed. Both camera models have a 130-degree viewing angle, but the 1080p HD resolution of the Pro 2 cameras is notably better than the 780p HD resolution on the Pro models. The Pro 2 cameras have some additional features (activity zones and continuous video recording [CVR]), but these features are only available when the units are plugged in (i.e. not on battery power) and the CVR feature is likely to generate larger files than can be accommodated on the 1GB of storage available with the free Basic service plan. Setup was simple with smartphone app. I had to try twice to synchronize the first camera with the base unit, but the second paired straight away and both worked flawlessly. Cameras can be given individual names for easy reference. Three video quality modes are available and can be varied for each camera separately. Zooming and panning are possible, but these are digital features only (i.e. zoomed images are cropped). Panning is only possible when zoom is active. The camera has no optical zoom or mechanical panning capabilities. You are better off capturing the entire 130-degree image and cropping after video is recorded. I have the free “Basic” service that includes 7 days of video “memories” on the Arlo cloud (up to 1 GB), up to 5 cameras, and 3 months of support. With the 2 new Pro 2 cameras, the 1GB limit might be more quickly reached, but I regularly clean old video footage (mostly of my cat) and I have not bumped into the 1GB limit over a week of use. WiFi connectivity between all 4 cameras (2 x Pro and 2 x Pro 2) and base unit is impressive. I have my cameras placed 25 to 40 feet away from the base unit with 2 interior walls and 1 exterior wall between and the signal strength (according to the app) is very good. These cameras are truly wireless. Magnetic mounts are effective, but must be located out of reach when placed outside to prevent theft as the cameras are easily removed from the mount. Cameras can also be place on a flat surface without a mount. Alternative mounting options are available separately. If you don’t like white, there are black and camouflage “skins” available for the cameras. Video and audio recordings must be stored on the Arlo cloud. This has advantages and disadvantages. Advantages: 1) facilitates remote access via smartphone app when beyond the range of your local WiFi signal; 2) no local storage medium is required. Disadvantages: 1) “Live” video (and audio) is delayed by a couple of seconds; 2) You need to trust that the Arlo cloud is reliable, private, and secure. The Arlo terms of service suggests that they are not responsible for uploaded “content”. There are two USB ports on the base unit for local storage, but this is in addition to (not instead of) cloud storage. Video and audio recording (and other actions) on individual cameras can be triggered by motion or audio or both. The length of recording can be set for the duration of the trigger (up to 300 seconds) or can be set to a fixed length from 10 to 120 seconds. The trigger can activate an alarm and send email and notifications in-app. The alarm is VERY loud and comes from the base unit, not the cameras. Unlike security service providers, video and audio are not monitored and you are entirely responsible for alerting authorities in the event of emergencies. Be prepared to receive LOTS of emails and in-app notifications and, likely, a bump in your cell phone data usage if you use your smart phone to watch video. The sensitivity of motion detection can be adjusted separately for each camera. The default setting (“80%”) is quite sensitive and can be triggered by reflection from windows. Each camera can be turned off manually. The system can also be turned on and off and can be scheduled to come on at specific times for each day of the week. There is a built-in infrared (IR) light source that allows black/white “night vision”. In IR mode, near objects and reflective surfaces are very bright. The two-way audio feature is nice and output volume is loud enough to have a conversation (considering the push-to-talk delay). Some browsers (e.g. Internet Explorer) do not support the push-to-talk feature required for two-way audio. The rechargeable batteries in my two older cameras actually do last up to 6 months without a charge. I have no doubt that the batteries will perform similarly on the Pro 2 cameras. Extra batteries can be purchased. If you do not purchased the optional charging station, batteries must be charged (indoors) in the camera.

Pretty cameras that generally work...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really impressed with the build of these. They are pretty and just work. I would recommend running them on an APC or realize the cameras need a sec to pick up. 1080p video during the day is fine. At night or in the dark, I was not super impressed. The setup was easy and the app is simple to use. I have not had some of the problems others have reported but I don't leave them running all the time. I think most of the complaints are because people have not read the materials or setup the free cloud service. I can see how it performs better indoors just because the wifi connection will be usually stronger indoors. I did not have any issues outdoors with a high powered router combined with a mess system. There are youtube videos to help with setup or issues with the camera placement. I would recommend this product.
