After April, no more PC as trusted device
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.DO NOT BUY ANY ARLO PRODUCT, As of April 2021 you are forced to use 2FA (2 factor authentication) to use your HOME PC to log into your HOME SECURITY SYSTEM, this is unacceptable. They simply have to add that device as a trusted device and problem is solved, they have stated they WILL NOT DO THIS. DO NOT BUY ANY ARLO DEVICES until this is resolved.

GOOD, but missing things that could make it GREAT
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Packaging: great and easy to open and assemble (put batteries into cameras). Powered up, and thought it was a big plus that the batteries came with a 100% charge... that was great and an unexpected bonus. Syncing was easy and relatively fast. everything paired nicely and is range of the base. Installation: using the provided screws and magnetic mounts, I found it easy to setup and put in my desired place. No issues. Battery life: The one on the front of my house that gets A LOT of traffic from 4 cats, people, kids feeding cats in the morning, etc.… and is at 81% battery after almost 2 weeks. I'm impressed with this because I probably get 60-70 alerts per day (more on that later), so it is on and recording for a significant portion of the day. The camera on the back of my house gets significantly less traffic (maybe 1 alert every other day) and is at 96% after almost 2 weeks. Again, battery life has been impressive. The weather has been colder recently (20’s at night, 30s-40s during the day), but batteries seem unaffected. Pros: Super easy to mount, NO WIRES. Literally anyone could setup this system and not feel overwhelmed with it. Batteries: Very impressed so far. I even have the camera optimized for higher video quality and less battery life. FREE PLAN-no brainer, easily the best feature of this system. Cons: Charging cable length-this is a HUGE negative for this system… this cable alone severely limits this systems capability. If it was JUST a charging cable, it wouldn’t be a big deal… but because certain features of the camera are “unlocked” only when plugged in, it’s a huge negative… ex. You can only assign zones while the camera is on AC power… so If I want to stop getting 60+ alerts per day on my phone (and email), then I must plug it in…. except I can’t , because the included cord ISN’T LONG ENOUGH to reach my power outlet… and if I lower the camera, it’s not at the correct angle… great, I’ll just deal with the 60+ alerts per day and delete the 60+ emails… Every. Single. Day. Another issue, I can’t figure out how to stop email alerts…I get the alerts on my cell phone, so I don’t also need email alerts. Especially when they’re all videos of cats walking around. I would “disarm” the system, but another drawback… if I disarm it, I get NO alerts or recordings… so its either I deal with the alerts, or get none… that’s a tough one… I don’t want to miss something significant or important (someone trying to get into my house), so I leave it armed. HD doesn’t look HD. I have the camera set for the highest video quality, but they’re still not great. Zoom is pretty bad too. Pros: Can’t state it enough, 1 week FREE of recordings.... man that is great, I would give this 2 stars, but the option for 1 week free recordings really helps this product! Especially the price of competitor cloud storage systems, which I feel should all at least offer 1 free week since you bought their super expensive cameras. Setup was a breeze. Price is significantly cheaper that competitor models, but you may get what you pay for. Ability to put anywhere it’s in range of Base system… I love that I could move these camera around… put one facing my pool for a day or so, then move it back facing my door, etc. the fact that its wireless offers a lot of freedom with this system.

Great Security System
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok so I’ve been lucky enough to test out the Arlo Pro 2 Security System over the last couple of days and I must say it’s an awesome security system. Setup took all of 10 minutes if that. After connecting the base station to my router I synced both cameras. After syncing, and creating my Arlo account via the app downloaded from the App Store, it alerted me to update the base station firmware and also for both cameras. After updating everything which only took a couple of minutes, I placed one camera in the living room and the other in the master bedroom. Immediately both cameras started picking up motion detection in both areas because it emails you every time it detects motion, if it’s armed. Luckily I was able to find the setting to change whether it was armed or not. In this section it also allows you to set different schedules for when it’s to be armed or disarmed. Audio on the cameras was clear without distortion and the video is just as clear. I was pleasantly surprised with the night vision on both cameras as well. In the settings I love how each camera is setup with its own set of settings to be tweaked however I like. And the addition of the microphone is perfect for a quick reminder to the kids for when it’s time to turn the tv off and head to bed. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a home security system.

Would be great if not for MANY GLITCHES
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture is great until you zoom, then very bad. The picture goes black and white all the time, sometimes it just decides to unarm itself, often says " Arlo not available right now try again later," and the worst part is other people can sync themselves to the geofencing and rob your house as they did mine. Enough said...

Not worth the money
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was excited to buy a completely wireless security system. It did not live up to the expectations. It did record every movement but displaying it on a cell phone screen leaves a lot to be desired. Putting it on my computer screen is supposed to be available but it is complicated and did not seem worth all of the hassle. I returned it very soon after buying it and will not consider it again.

Camera’s Ok, App is terrible
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don’t fall for the “Experts” reviews. I’ve been using these cameras for several months. App is slow to load and crashes constantly. Video is highly pixilated. Camera’s frequently go off line. Too much lag time between events and alerts. Unable to edit or delete TRUSTED DEVICES for Two-Step Verification because the Trashcan icon is missing. Arlo support no help.

Good Cameras, UI Could Use Work
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Arlo Pro 2 is a two-camera security system with good looks, easy setup, and great video resolution. The cameras are quite configurable with on-board microphone and speakers allowing for bi-directional communication. The mobile app (or website) allows you to view a live feed from your cameras, take snapshots from the live feed or video under review, review video stored online in Arlo's cloud service, download video, configure your cameras and detection mode. The big negative is the inablility to specify your own storage location. While Arlo does provide a free service tier, where it will store up to 7 days of video data free of charge, not being able to redirect your saved media directly to dropbox, your own at-home hard drive or DVR, or some other easy method to gain access to your own video is the primary reason I rated this with four stars. The mobile app, while well-designed, has some navigation and usability issues that likely will be ironed out over the long term. Setting up the Arlo is pretty straight forward. The quick start guide recommended downloading the App which will walk you through the setup process. However, the process was pretty straightforward and the guide did a good enough job on it's own. Once you've connected the base station via ethernet (no wireless option) to your home router, you can then pair cameras to the base station. The base station took less than a minute on first boot to come up, detect my internet connection, and be ready to pair cameras. Pairing cameras was about 20-30s each. After the initial setup, the app prompted me to execute firmware updates for the cameras and base station which took about 3 minutes in total for all 3 (I did the base station first, then the two cameras). Once that was done, I moved on to placing the cameras. The cameras have a magnetic ball mount which was surpisingly strong. The ball mount lets you orient the cameras to your desire. The App has a camera positioning mode which puts the cameras in a very low latency mode (likely consumes a bit extra power) while giving you a live feed to help with placement. Video from the camera is of pretty good quality with the ability to take snapshots while viewing a live feed or a video within the app. The cameras have a power/notification/recording LED which can be turned off from the app. They also have night vision which is pretty amazing. The camera auto detects when to enable the night vision LEDs. This was so good, I was tempted to purpose one of the two cameras as my baby monitor! Night vision mode can also be turned off in the app. The ability to turn these off is useful to save power. When installing the cameras, you can either install them wired, connected directly to a power source or wireless, with a battery. The advantages of going wired is that: 1. You can configure the camera for the highest quality video recording setting and not worry about time between charges. 2. You can leave the LEDs and night vision on all the time. 3. You get some addition detection options which require the camera to be fully active all the time. Once in place, your next step would be to connect the camera's detection thresholds. There's a sensistivity setting for motion and volumne threshold for sound. The camera can trigger a recording on either motion/activity, sound, or both. These settings bubble up to a higher level configuration the app calls a "mode". A mode is a configuration where you specify a triggering event, camera action in response, and notification settings. A triggering event can be motion/activity or sound. Camera actions can be to do nothing or record video. Notifcations can be push notification or email. Aside from the simple mode I've described, there are schedule and geofencing modes. Schedule lets you layer time/day setting on detection. So you could have the cameras only active from 8am to 5pm on weekdays and inactive on weekends. This could be useful for those with wireless setup to further cut down on power usage. Geofencing allows you to set a range where once you (via your phone) have left the area, the cameras will be activated. This can be nice if you have the cameras set up with indoor monitoring which you only care about when you're not physically present in the home. The camera has another cool feature - built-in speakers and a microphone. Together with the detection and push notification features, it means you can setup a camera as a video doorbell or a fancy baby monitor that allows you to speak to your child remotely. Or with indoor monitoring and pets, you could interact with your pets during the day while away at work. Altogether, the Arlo is a pretty slick system. It's biggest downfall is that it's too self contained. While that certainly enhances the privacy of the system, I'm not comfortable knowing that Arlo and its owners will always have on their cloud a copy of my video. Needing to go through Arlo to download copies is also a pain and without a true file manager interface, it means either spending a lot of time tapping to select video and downloading. This is likely designed to push you towards one of the non-free service tiers which gets you a lot more storage and a longer support interval from Arlo.

Terrible System
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this system and it set up easy but to get actual support as to: 2 way Microphone, Alarm set off at base station, accurate monitoring, alerts to your phone and basically everything else was very bad. No one is available to assist, no video training, this was a complete waste of my time. All the Arlo Company wants you to do is sell and that's where there concern ends. Jim

Great wireless system
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was paying an arm and a leg for security with Xfinity including cameras outside of my home, although great it was really expensive. So I invested in Simplisafe and was looking for some cameras for the inside of my home. Arlo was easy to setup, easy install was completed in a matter of minutes. The directions were simple and easy. The picture quality is really good as well. My only concerns are I mounted one outside and im worried about the magnetic base either being blown off by a strong gust of wind(Which we recently had and it surprisingly held up) or being stolen because its easily removed. My other concern is with the distance that it can sense motion its not very far but I guess thats expected with a wireless system. Great addition to my home security system.

Camera for beginners
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I paid a lot of money for these cameras and I expected much more than this, two of my cameras do not work and Best Buy would not take them back cause they only have a 30 day warranty so I called Arlo and I sent them back to fix it and still it broke again. Two of cameras do not work and it has only been 8 months, what a waste of money I say this was bad business.

Exactly what I need for security
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very simple set up - had both cameras up and running within 10 minutes. The fact these are wireless makes this perfect. I can put them anywhere in the house at any time with zero effort. The video quality does not appear 1080p though. Looks more like my 720p old wired system. It looks better with night vision then in full color for some reason but either one does look fine. The night vision ability of these cameras is fantastic. Doesn't even look like it's night or dark. Appears like day time in black and white. Detail is great. I have no use / need for outdoor use so I haven't tried outside but just the fact that I can move this to any spot indoors at any time is just awesome. Love checking in on my 2 cats during the day when I'm at work. The app on the phone is nice but you can also log into your account on any PC or laptop and view your cameras live at any time as well. But only one at a time. If you're on your phone and log in from somewhere else, you'll get booted from the original login and vice-versa. Would be nice to be able to have a full screen view of both cameras on two different systems but that's a minor issue. Maybe a patch or work around is available but I haven't really looked around much for that yet Highly recommend this.

no live stream
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Garbage, live stream never works. Unless you like looking at a black screen. The motion capture works 50% of them time, just never when you wanted it to work. If you like Live streaming cameras that just buffer then show a black screen, this is the security cam for you! I'm using a brand new S9 with up to date software.

Back product and worse support
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've looked long and hard and only bought because it was a special. tried all night to sync. I install systems and this is just not impressive in the least.
