1st time security camera buyer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have never thought about buying a security camera system because I didn't want to have to run wires and connect into current power supplies. When I found out these run off batteries and no wiring is needed (possible but not needed) I decided to try them. I have seen many reviews that the quality of these are not up to past Arlo products but to a newbie like me I thought the picture quality was pretty good. The thing i can't believe is how powerful the magnet is that holds the camera on. I have 1 pointing at my front door where wind and rain can hit it and I never even see the camera shake when it is recording. being new to the security camera world I have nothing to compare this Arlo 2 to but I am very happy with it's performance so far.

HD Cameras did not work with cloud storage.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Took the HD Cameras back and switched brands because viewing their videos from Arlo cloud did not work - they were totally choppy on very high speed internet. Arlo support was a zero. After 5 support calls, their junk went back to the store. Their traditional low resolution camera my work ok, don't know.

Great wireless video option for all skill levels
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had the Arlo 2 Pro for around a week and have not experienced any negatives thus far. I have the 2 camera setup and put one outside by my front door and one inside facing my living area so I could compare the quality inside and outside. Setup was easy, I just followed the included instructions and it was pretty much plug and play. I had it up and running in 15 minutes or so. I like the magnetic fasteners that are used to connect the camera to the installed base. This allows for easy removal for battery charging. I have not had to recharge my batteries yet, but from what I have been told they last for many weeks, so that should not be much of a chore. I like the interactive nature of the camera, as it has a two-way speaker that allows me to talk to someone at the front door. It also can be set up to provide alerts and only record based on motion, which helps to save battery and storage. The quality of the video is 1080P and very clear when I watch it. I would recommend this system to anyone who wants an easy, affordable option to home security. I had purchased a wired system, but am returning it now that I found out about the Arlo 2. Why run wires through the attic when you don't have to!

Garbage
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked fine for about 6 months and then the base station began having issue Live Streaming the camera feeds. If it did work on one camera then it caused all other cameras to go offline. ARLO tech support is garbage - completely unable to help. BestBuy will not replace or refund because its pasted the 14 days. DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL!!!!

WHAT A NIGHTMARE!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The instructions are scarce, you have to go online to read all this crap to figure it out. I cant see my cameras streaming while installing so I get the right placement. I had SWANN before and it was wired but at least it was easy and quick to set up. I could watch it on my TV. I am super frustrated with the complexity of this product.

Useless at night
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Car was recently broken into, cameras record all the time during the day however the one time I need this camera to work, it fails. Mine is hard wired on constant power and both my cars were broken into, Arlo didn't catch a thing. I have 3 cameras that the thieves likely crossed paths on, sensitivity is set on the highest setting.

You MUST be a bit Tech-Savvy
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love technology. I work around technology and it is all wrapped up in our lives, so I always love to try out new things. On the security end, technology is no exception in my house. I am only moderately tech-savvy, so I have much in common with the rest of the world I guess. FIRST: With any WIFI (Wireless Fidelity) product, you must strong WIFI capabilities in your place in order to use a WIFI product. Arlo Security Camera System is no different. First, BEFORE YOU BUY, do a “bandwidth speed test.” A bandwidth test is a free test to determine the WIFI signal strength. In order to do so, you need a laptop or smartphone to do this. You have to make sure you have WIFI in the home as well. • Conduct the test on your computer or smartphone in your home. If you are using your smartphone, make sure your DATA is turned off on your smartphone so you can get a reading solely from the WIFI signals in the home. Once you have gotten strong WIFI signals in the home, do the next step. • Conduct the test again on your laptop or smartphone in the areas you want to place the cameras. Again, make sure your DATA is turned off on your smartphone. • If you have a strong WIFI signal based on the bandwidth speed test you conducted at the sites where you want to place your cameras, you are a good candidate for this product. If you do NOT have a strong WIFI signal where you want to place your cameras, there are a few options you can try: o Purchase a WIFI-extender. They extend WIFI signals. However, each product may yield excellent – or – poor results, so make sure you are happy with the product you choose. o Call your internet provider. They may have upgrades available at no charge. They may also give you tips on products that have been reported to be most successful for their clients. o Consult with your “techie person” or even an electronics store for insight. But don’t purchase until you have spoken to your internet provider first. For example, we were eligible for a free upgrade in our router. It helps, as more people in the house, the more bandwidth is used up. The Pros: • Clear 1080 pixel day image • 2-way audio • Free cloud back-up for 7 days. You can download if you want to save something • Easy to use APP • Looks good not bulky can be color customized with skins • 3 options to keep them powered: o a. Battery o b. Hardwired o c. Solar panel • BIGGEST STRENGTH NOT SEEN WITH OTHER WIFI CAMERAS: 3-Second Look Back feature • Remotely speak with persons who appear on your camera. They won’t know whether you are home or not! I was in California and spoke to someone who was on my property. I told them I was on hold with the FBI office and I couldn’t step away from my desk. They guy stayed around, so I figured he was safely approachable and called my husband to meet this guy at the house. LOL The Cons: • Kept going offline (remember my WIFI caution in the beginning?) • Draining battery. These are not “hardwired” for power, so you have to expect to re-charge these or use the other options – hard wire or solar. • Poor night vision. If you ever used any security camera, you know how the LED lighting is not as good as you would like. The camera needs to pick up some sort of light (a street light, a lit sign, etc.) to be able to catch an image properly. Imagine out in the country, pitch-black. Not going to pick up anything out there, except for maybe the reflection of eyes at night when they look at a camera and the LED picks up the eyes • The software is as far from intuitive as it comes. Non-Tech people – BEWARE! • There’s also no way to continuous record onto the hard drive connected to the base station. This is true with all motion-detection cameras that are WIFI-connected. I just so happen to use both. The WIFI one is great for quick remote answering • The watertight plugs on the rear do not stay in place at all. They all work their selves out within a few seconds which means I can’t put them out in the weather because water can get into the connection! Setting up: • Follow instructions about “bandwidth speed test” – in the beginning of my review. • Plug the base station to your router and electricity wait a few minutes then press 2 buttons to sync the cameras Summary: At this point, I cannot recommend this product until Netgear resolves these issues. I am giving Arlo Pro 2 stars because the foundation is there for a great product and I will keep my fingers crossed for quick firmware update.

A Good Wire Free Security Camera System
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Arlo Pro 2 is a very good wireless security camera system that provides excellent daytime image quality, with adequate night vision capability. I was able to set up my cameras in a few minutes following the instructions in the quick start guide. The daytime video provided by the cameras is crisp, clear, and detailed. The video quality in night vision is acceptable to good. I was concerned that the night vision quality would be poor and washed out as I had read from the arlo pro 2 community forum. However, this was not the case in my experience. The video from night vision wasn't washed or grainy. I set the camera to view my backyard which has no outdoor lighting, and the night vision video feed appeared fine. The quality of the night vision is on par with my original arlo pro camera which I also own. I also like that you can mix the original arlo pro cameras and the arlo pro 2 cameras using the original base station. This means that for those who already own the arlo pro system, you simply need to purchase the additional arlo pro 2 cameras without needing to purchase a totally new arlo pro 2 base station. The arlo pro 2 wireless camera has a lot of features that you can control. There are too many to list here, but here are some of the ones I found useful. You can set a schedule for the cameras to be automatically activated, set duration for recording from 10 seconds to 300 seconds, live view the video feed from the arlo app or from your user account on the arlo netgear web page, communicate with two way audio, record up to one week's worth of video without a contract or monthly fee, and receive notifications directly to your phone whenever motion or sound triggers the camera video recording. However, the arlo pro 2 camera isn't perfect. There are a few seconds of delay from the video and audio recording. Sometimes the camera loses connection with the base station and is shown as being offline. It'll take a few tries to get it back online. I was also disappointed that 24/7 continuous video recording (CVR) is only offered on a subscription basis for a fee. Netgear doesn't allow us to hook up a hard drive to the base station to save the CVR feed. What a pity. All in all, I think the arlo pro 2 cameras are very good, but are not enough of an upgrade from the original arlo pro camera. Sure they are 1080p, but the 720p arlo pro is also of very good video quality with sufficient detail captured at a lower price point. However, if you need to have the best detail in the video quality, then I say go for it!

Piece of junk....video has 30 seconds delay
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got the cameras installed but there is a horrible 30 second delay in the video. This issue is being discussed all over the internet. Please research on this issue before you buy this item. I don’t recommend this product until the issue is addressed by Netgear. I love Netgear but this is unacceptable since the issue has been going for quiet sometime now.

I regret this purchase.
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I let myself get talked into something that was supposedly better, but it's highly inferior. Most of the time these don't stay connected to the internet, they also don't start recording until the action has almost ended, not good if you want to catch a thief in the act. Overpriced. Stick with Ring or blink.

HELPLESS and DISAPPOINTED
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a senior and not very good regarding technology. I would never recommend this purchase for anyone who can not climb a ladder to change batteries and properly program. I have wasted my money because this has not served my needs. In fairness this would or could work much better for others.
