I was surprised it stayed connected despite my parents' laggy wifi. They use it for general security and don't need fancy features, just something reliable with decent quality video, and this fits the bill.

I was amazed as to how easily and quickly I was able to get the Arlo security camera system up and running. It took me under 30 minutes to get the system started and both cameras installed. The app is very user friendly. I have both of the cameras installed outside of my home and they produce very high quality video and pictures. Besides the great HD video I really like the fact that you have 7 days of free recordings without a fee. You do have the options of establishing a monthly contract with them. Overall, I am very pleased with the Arlo security system. If you are looking into purchasing a security system, I highly recommend giving the Arlo system a try

The Arlo Pro 2 cameras are a great system for someone who is on the fence about their home security. I live in a pretty safe neighborhood and while I have my cautious moment there has never been a break in near my house. Set Up: It was easy once i knew what went wrong. By this I mean, no where in the instructions does it say that I need to add my base station as a device before adding my cameras. i was scratching my head for a solid hour before I realized what was wrong. A easy 5 minute setup ended taking over 1:30 hrs. But once I added the cameras everything went exactly like I expected. Hang Up: 3/5 Maybe I'm just really bad at nailing things to walls but I could get my mount to stay on my nail without it precariously swinging when I moved my Arlo Angles. Application: I thought the Arlo App was really intuitive and easy to use. I can easily control when i want it off and on. I also really enjoyed naming my cameras Performance: The performance in terms of video and audio quality of the Arlo Pro 2 is fantastic. I can make out faces fairy clearly and when I was testing the audio in another room I could hear myself loud and clear. The motion sensors are fairly strong as well. I dropped my pen and when it rolled into the frame I got a notifications. I think the combo of both audio and motion sensors make this system really stellar. Overall: 4/5 I had some minor hiccups but on a whole the system does what I want when I want and it really is DIY without all the wiring and crazy storage costs.

I purchased the six camera set to cover the interior and exterior of my property. The setup is amazingly easy; the hardest part is deciding how to locate them to cover as much area and access points as possible. I was slightly surprised that the base station requires the constant ethernet connection to the router, but it isn't a big deal. I also had a little problem with getting the furthest camera to connect (about 300 feet from the base station. I moved the base station up a little higher and it is fine now. Very impressed with the picture quality, even at night (black and white, but very clear at night). The syncing and other aspects of initial set up are very intuitive and easy. Have not used it long enough to say how the battery life is in the real world. A few things I would like but understand why they omit them to save battery life: constant streaming and 3 second look back upon motion (which is really a second or two after first movement). Again, I understand this is necessary to have a reasonable battery life, but in a perfect world... All in all a high quality, easy to use, truly wireless camera system.

I’ve been needing to upgrade my home camera system for a while now. My old system is all hardwired and 960H resolution which is good enough to know if a person is on your property, but lacking in the detail needed to identify a person or animals. Been looking around for a while and the Arlo Pro 2 system is what I needed to enter the modern age. Setup I don’t think it is possible for the setup to be any easier. Plug in the base station and activate the cameras using the app (more on the app below). I have both cameras located outside my house and it was as easy as putting a screw in the wall and hanging the camera. It was easy to have the app open on my phone while I was aiming the cameras so there was no back and forth with aiming – go and check the picture – go back and adjust, etc. Features Like I said earlier I’m using the cameras remotely and do not have them hard-wired. If I want to see the live feed it’s as easy as opening the app. When nothing is happening I see no need to have a constant record – the cameras will not keep a live 24/7 feed unless you have them plugged into power – but it’s nice to know that is an easy fix (built in feature) if I want to do that in the future. What I get using this setup is saved video (with sound!) of anytime there is motion in front of the camera. Package dropped off on porch? I have video of the person approaching, dropping off, and leaving. Neighbors cat snooping around my porch? Video evidence. Burglar approaching the door in the middle of the night? Well, this hasn’t happened yet fortunately – but I get a clear video of myself coming home after dark. Sound recording is great. I can hear footsteps in the video. I like the ability to 2 way communicate. Stuck in the bathroom when someone is knocking on the door? You can use the app to talk through the camera. Performance Video is great and very clear. I can identify facial features, logos on clothes, etc. Battery life seems good so far. At my current rate I anticipate recharging every 3 weeks or so. System is everything I expected it to be. For my use (home surveillance) I don’t know what else I could want. App / Cloud features App is easy and intuitive to use. I can pull up live video easily or access saved videos in the library. It’s simple to download saved videos and share. I think the price is reasonable for the features and performance – and don’t forget this comes with the basic Arlo subscription which includes 7 days of saved videos at no charge. You can upgrade the subscription – but I don’t see the need. If something happens that I need video of I can view and download the video within 7 days. Also – if you’re concerned 7 days isn’t enough for you, there is also the option of connecting a hard drive to the base station to keep recordings indefinitely. Overall – This is a great system that I would recommend to anyone looking for Note – I received this system as a part of a review and test program through Netgear.

Review in 1 Sentenace --------------------- Good 2 camera and base unit which is completely wifi (connects to wifi & Camera do not require wires), with rechargeable cameras with an easy step and has no monthly fee and its very close to replacing your existing home security system and the monthly payments, and btw, i can seek Alexa's help to control it. What's in the box ------------------ Arlo Pro 2 Security Camera System, 2-Camera Kit, Wire-Free, 1080p, Weather Proof, Indoor/Outdoor Base station with a built-in siren Camera power adapter Camera power cable Ethernet cable Quick start guide Rechargeable batteries (2 pcs) Wall mounts (2 pcs), wall mount screw set Window decals (1 pcs) Detailed Review --------------- Design -- I actually wished the camera was in a darker color as i love to install it outdoor and with the dust and other things, it will easily get darker by itself. Also, i think darker cameras hide themselves better. The cameras and the base look to be of well made plastic. Netgear/Arlo also sells a 3 pack camoflouage Setup -- Fairly Simple, the included guide is very good and enough for you to help sync up the base and the camera. you can either setup the camera as wired or as wireless(not attached to power). The downside of making it not connect to power is that you will not have rolling 7 day record and it will only record if there is motion detected. You will also need to recharge the battery every couple of months. Now, you can setup the area where you want to detect motion which is a good feature and works well Note that the base station needs to be connected to the internet via ethernet cable. there is no wifi option. The Base station however connects to the camera's through its dedicated 2.4 ghz wifi Recording -- Recording in arlo Pro 2 is 1080p, great in good light, i was also able to test low light performance at night (night vision) which also detects good motion. there is a feature within the Arlo Pro 2 wherein you can go upto 3 seconds back when the motion detected. I never had the Arlo pro or any other camera based security system, However i do have the 30$ Yi camera which i use indoor for baby monitoring. So my review is going to be of a first time user and not really a power user. With that being said, i think i am impressed with the camera setup so far. 7 day rolling recording is free with this camera and the recordings are saved to cloud. Arlo also sells other plans which allows more recording to be saved to cloud. Audio, you can also talk through the smartphone and camera, it is two way. i am not sure if this will be really helpful outdoor though App -- I downloaded and installed the android app. the setup you had done on https://arlo.netgear.com/ The app is fairly straightforward, you can access your camera and recordings Alexa -- I have an echo dot. I am able to use Alexa to view the camera which is great.

I have the Arlo Pro 2 camera system and when the Pro 2 came out I thought I would take my old system to my office and setup the new. The new system as the old was very easy to setup. I noticed the battery life is better than the Pro. The Arlo system is one of the best camera systems I have used. The online app is easy to use and the controls work great. One tip is to make sure you keep the cameras charged as the older Pro system you had to re-setup the camera again if the battery went dead. The Pro 2 doesn't appear to have to do that but I only ran one battery down and recharged and it recognized the system.

After unboxing and charging the batteries, I had the Arlo Pro 2’s up and running in less than 5 minutes each. So far the battery life has been decent but there’s no way I’ll get 6 months. I have these inside with views of exterior doors. One gets little foot traffic and the battery is still at 74% after several weeks. The other sees much more motion and it is down to 51%. I’m guessing 3 months tops. I was planning to mount them outside until I sew the reviews about cold weather wreaking havoc on batteries. Maybe these can be used outside in fairer climates or during the milder months. I’m not a huge fan of the recordings being split into 10 second clips and the only way to get constant recording is to plug in the camera which defeats the purpose. Same for setting up zones—constant power required. 7 days of free cloud recording is a nice addition as is the ability to add a usb stick for local storage. Tweaking the settings, while not difficult, can be time consuming to get these set to your preferences. Recording quality during the day is excellent but the night vision is just acceptable. Geofencing works great so you don’t get bombarded with notifications while you’re at hom. All in all these are good to very good interior cameras but the app can be a bit wonky to work with and the cold weather issues leave me wishing for just a bit more.

Nice little security cameras. I placed one in the front and back of my house. The picture is great but falls off towards the edge as it is fisheyed. The night vision mode is fantastic (Found out that I was visited by a raccoon and a opossum). It's nice to be able to stream live footage anywhere I go using the Arlo app, as well as communicate through the built in speakers. The motion detection works really well, and promptly notifies the app and my email when it does. I had to turn down the sensitivity a bit as cars driving down the street kept setting it off. I am very pleased with this product.

The Arlo - Pro 2 Security Camera System system is great! I have their previous non-HD system as well, and I had some issues with one of the cameras in that system right out of the box. I do have to comment on their customer service from that experience here as well, as I found it to be a bit irritating. When I got in contact with Arlo's support team, I explained my problem to them. They had me do a few things to troubleshoot the camera, which spanned a couple of days. After doing everything that they told me to do, they finally decided to send me a replacement camera. I wish they would have done this from the beginning, as it was a faulty camera from the beginning. In all, they managed to get my issue resolved, but it took a while. As for the Arlo - Pro 2 Security Camera System, I did try connecting the cameras to my existing Arlo system, and it does work. As a matter of fact, the actual base station looks identical to the one in my old system, so I don't see why you couldn't just go out and but the new HD cameras to adapt to your old system. The picture quality on these new HD cameras is far superior to the old ones. As for size, they are pretty much the same size. The Arlo - Pro 2 Security Camera System is a great addition to any home security. I had my alarm go off in my home one week ago. I was immediately able to see that it was a false alarm that triggered my alarm thanks to my Arlo cameras. I have some indoor, as well as outdoor. The batteries last a very long time, as the cameras will only record when there is motion (i.e. scheduled or armed). I'd say they will last about one month before you have to charge them. Again, this all depends on your system settings. I would definitely recommend the Arlo Pro 2 Security system to anyone looking for added home security. It will not disappoint.

Complete camera system with motion, sound, siren.

Setup The quick start guide provided in the box is, as its name implies, the quickest way to get up and running. I installed both batteries in the cameras and noted that they come already charged. It indicated as much in the guide, but I was surprised nonetheless to see that they were indeed ready to use. I scanned the QR code in the quick start guide with my phone and it downloaded the latest Arlo app via the Apple app store. I plugged the base station into an available port on my home network and then the AC adapter into the wall, followed by the on/off switch to 'ON'. I used the Arlo app on my phone to create an Arlo account and login, followed by syncing the cameras to the base station. This involves little more than pushing the sync button the router, the sync button on the camera and waiting for a series of blinking LEDs. Features Quick points that make this a winner for me are 1080P recording in h.264 format, a wide 130degree field of view, night vision, 8x digital zoom and 2 way audio. The motion and sound detection work and are configurable via the app and are supplemented with a email and push notifications, which I like if I want to notify someone besides myself. All of this interfaces with Amazon Alexa, Smartthings, Google home, and IFTTT. It doesn't appear to work with Apple Home kit, but I was pleased with the integration I was able to achieve with IFTTT. The 100+db smart siren does work, and can be triggered on demand or through motion or sound. I have a home alarm, but could see how this could benefit someone that does not. In any case, it's an added feature that does work as advertised. The 1080P recording is smooth and looks great. The recordings are stored in the cloud for 7 days for free with additional storage available for purchase. They are always viewable via the app and downloadable. Local Storage is available as a backup, but cannot be used to substitute for cloud storage. In the event that your internet access goes down, it will continue to record to the local USB storage. The Arlo 2 Pro set is a nice improvement to the original Arlo release, with added functionality (thanks for the local storage), and new form factor base station. I, and the family members at the house are very pleased and feel that its quality and features are exceptional for this price point. I'm recommending it to anyone that needs these features, as they just aren't available at this price point. I did receive ther Arlo Pro 2 Wire-Free Security System with 2 HD Cameras from NETGEAR as part of a review and test program, however these opinions and experiences are my own.

There is next to no delay in the wake function. I have tried other cameras that had such a long wake delay whenever motion was detected, the culprit had already left the shot. Not with Arlo. Almost an instant wake. The images are clear and quite sharp. Mounting is as easy as one screw. It has a really strong magnetic attachment to the mounting base. This also allows for easy access for recharge or adjusting the cameras angle. The one meh I have, the speaker is not quite intercom level. There is about a 3 second lag when speaking thru the camera app. I am sure a firmware update could address the lag. Overall, this is a really solid security camera setup. There is a base unit that connects to your router. I have not played too much with the base, but there are usb ports, rj45 port and a power port on it. I am assuming the usb can be used for disk storage. But I have not dug that deep yet. I do not see anything in the manual about them so I will have to dig thru the web site.
