Do not purchase if you want to live monitor anything. I’m sure they are great security cameras for motion detection. And recording but not live viewing. Got worse with every update.

Syncs with older model base station

We already have the older basic Arlo HD camera system & it was nice to add 2 additional cameras. I wasn’t sure if they would sync with the base station I have but it was very easy, I just went through the add a device steps & it synced effortlessly. The Pro 2 cameras are a lot different from the previous older models. They have rechargeable batteries & can also be plugged in. I haven’t tested it long enough to comment on the battery life yet but hopefully it’s better than the photo battery model I have. The cameras are a lot larger too. Audio is also included where you can listen or talk but I find that it breaks up a lot. Night vision is good but we have a motion detector light installed & I recommend that because otherwise it’s very hard to see anything. Daylight looks great & very clear. The base is vertical for these cameras & it is equipped with a siren. I have not tested the base obviously because I’m still using my old one . Works with Amazon Alexa & sends alerts to your phone, I highly recommend turning this off because every little motion sends an alert! All motion is recorded & stored for 7 days when the cameras are set to armed. 2 wall mount magnets included. Overall I’m pleased with them & I’d recommend them as an addition to existing cameras or just by themselves.

Most importantly easy set up. Was wondering if this would be difficult to set up, not at all. Piece of mind having this installed in my home. I also expected maybe for the video not to be so clear, but I can see everything is great detail. This isn’t that expensive either for a personal security system. I like that you can add on extra cameras. Great investment.

Once you've installed the app, installation is a breeze. The resolution of the videos is fantastic. The ability to talk to people through the camera makes it a fantastic addition to the front and back door. I installed a flash drive on the back of the hub and now all of the videos are stored locally. One of the only issues I can think of is that the audio isn't recorded when talking through the cameras. The audio comes right back as soon as I stop talking, but it makes sense to reduce feedback. This is one of the best additions I've made to my home.

I have owned several wireless cameras and Arlo is by far the best. Setup is super easy. The rechargeable batteries are pre-charged and syncing the base and cameras is fast and simple. The hardest part of the entire setup is determining where you would like to place the cameras. The base is easy to mount and the magnetic base firmly holds the camera and allows a wide range of adjustment. The picture quality is very clear and has a wide range to capture everything close by. The units seem very well built and I look forward to using for a long time to come.

It is marketed as a wireless camera but for continuous recording it does need power. Also has to much delay to start recording

Ended up replacing these cameras in less than a year. Only option was to use battery power and they do not last. Need to have a wired backup.

    Great home WiFi cameras

These Arlo Pro 2 cameras replace my Wi-Fi enabled cameras from two other manufacturers, and I’m glad to have them. They have a solid feel to them, are very easy to set up, and fully meet all of my needs. Particularly pleasing is the ability to set multiple schedules for the cameras to be armed or disarmed. I have a 4-day per week schedule that takes me away from home for 5 hours in the morning, back home for 4 hours in the afternoon, and away again for another 5 hours in the evening. I obviously don’t want footage of myself sitting on the couch, so the ability to set up a camera schedule that doesn’t require me to manually turn them on and off is very convenient. They can also be set to record on motion detection, or on demand. Downloading video clips you want to save is fairly intuitive, as is deleting videos from the app library. The app allows for the same amount of control as the online interface, which I find refreshing. You can also use it for two-communication with someone at the camera (I have one set up on my front porch so I can query folks I don’t recognize, before deciding whether or not to go to the door). This actually brings up my only real complaint regarding these cameras; the mic sounds very muffled in real-time, although it sounds fine on playback. It is probably important to mention that the audio is only recorded on the camera side of the conversation. Set-up was quick and easy, the only issue was my inability to follow the directions when syncing the second device (I didn’t from the beginning, like I did with the first). The big field of view makes it easy to position the cameras, and the night vision is very good as well, although the image loses resolution rather quickly upon zooming in any light situation. PROS + Easy setup + Set to record on motion detection, be active only at scheduled times, or record on demand. + Easy to set and modify schedules + Easy to download videos CONS - The camera mic sounds very muffled when trying to communicate in real-time, but sounds fine on playback. - Recordings only capture the audio from the camera, not the other side of the conversation (if someone is at the door, for instance). - Lose resolution rather quickly on zoom

    Best Indoor Wireless Security Camera

I have been using the Arlo Pro 2 Security Camera for a week and I am impressed. I got this as I rent an apartment and occasionally I need the super to come in and do work, plus I also have a cat. So I wanted something so I could keep a (random) eye on my cat and also just check-in when the super is bleeding the radiator or working. I picked the Arlo 2 because it was wireless and you can check-in via your phone. Both features work exactly as promised. You do need a spare network port on your router for the base station unit - which is a little frustrating. I am guessing this is because when you login remotely, you're not overloading the WiFi trying to live stream a video back to your phone. Audio quality is very good - surprisingly good. I had some fun catching our cat out misbheaving and reprimanding the cat remotely. There's a lot of other features I am yet to really take advantage of (night mode, cloud DVR) but all in all very happy. If I can, will try and come back and add some more updates in a month after I have played with this more. But if you want an indoor security camera that is portable, wireless and flexible, the Arlo 2 will meet your needs.

    Amazing Camera System

These cameras are awesome. There are so many features my wired cameras don't even have. Love the two way talk, simple install, and easy hub connection. Before installing I planned some time because everything smart these days runs into some issue on install/setup. Not for these Arlo cams, setup was simple, easy, and I had some time to relax and play around with the settings. There is a lot of detailed settings to really make these cameras work specifically for your situation. What a good product with great picture quality!!

    A very worthy upgrade

Got this to update my existing Arlo setup, so it's written with a bent towards upgrading in mind. For those on the fence about getting such a system, the Arlo is the current best in class for feature set. This is security with an upfront cost, but no ongoing cost as the basic cloud access is free, and for a home use case, more than sufficient. The batteries should last a couple years (judging from the original), but this one can have the cameras plugged in. You should be able to get many years of life out of this system. The setup was easy and remarkable similar to the previous. Setup your cameras, and use the app to finetune them. You'll also want to play with the rules around recording. The 2-way audio feature is awesome for things like a camera on the front door, but the audio isn't going to carry far or sound great. Don't expect to play music through them, but conversations work fine. The HD video and night vision are a noticeable improvement. This also allows you to have local storage (and thus use this in an offline situation, but to take advantage of all the features, you'll really want an internet connection. I would also recommend plugging at least one camera in permanently if possible, as some features require it. I think the doorbell cam works great for this. The cameras work great outdoors and if you install wireless, they have a surprising range. However, it is worth the effort to weatherproof your install location if you run wires to ensure it holds up against the weather. I took mine in during a hurricane (lol!), but otherwise they've survived outside just fine. Overall this system addresses the original shortcomings (lack of local storage, ability to plug in camera, lack of audio and HD video) and add a few features I didn't realize I could make use of like live video feeds and even the siren. For anyone upgrading from the original Arlo, this is a no brainer. For those looking to upgrade from the Arlo Pro, you can also mix and match the cameras. Consider getting a 1080p pro 2 camera as a first step to upgrading. Note, I received this unit free from netgear as part of a test and review program.

Installation is seamless, and set-up guide is straight forward and comprehensive. I love the 1080p high quality video and its night vision feature. It's real convenient with slick mobile application. It allows me to view the live camera footage at all time. Motion detection works out perfectly as I expected. The camera are now rechargeable, which is a big upgrade from the first version in my opinion. Though it's a little bit pricy, I'd say it works out perfectly as a smart home security system. I'd highly recommended.
