The NETGEAR Arlo Pro 2 is available in multiple configurations. The VMS4230P configuration is basically the Arlo Base Station (VMB4000) plus two of the Arlo Pro 2 cameras. This is not my first experience with the Arlo product line, as I have the Arlo Q camera. So, I'm familiar with (and already use) the free cloud video recording, as well as the upgraded service plans that are available. Because I am already an Arlo user, the Arlo Pro 2 was even easier to set up than it already would be. I basically fired up the Arlo app, then followed the simple instructions to add the Arlo Base station and Arlo Pro 2 cameras to my account. Once added, I noticed that the Arlo Pro 2 cameras feel nicely constructed and had better video quality compared to my Arlo Q, all while running off of battery. The Arlo Pro 2 cameras are designed for indoor or outdoor use though, and include outdoor mounts that magnetically attach which allows you to orient them with infinite adjustability around a 180 degree axis. Similar to the Arlo Q, I was able to set up motion-activated recordings that could be viewed remotely, and the motion sensitivity seemed to be accurate in my experience. While the cameras can be used outdoors or indoors, the Base Station is designed to be indoors. It connects to the Internet via Wi-Fi or Ethernet, and also includes USB ports for connecting a USB storage device for recordings (in addition to the cloud). The Base Station also includes a siren that can sound at up to 100 dB; since I already have an alarm system, I don't really have a use for that, but it is nice to know I can remotely trigger it on if the need ever arises. Overall, I found the Arlo Pro 2 system (VMS4230P) a nice addition to my home automation with lots of flexibility when it comes to camera placement and usage. The free plan works good for me, so other than the initial investment there is no additional cost. I've had the system in place for about two weeks now, and the camera batteries are still at 98% each, which is great.

    Really Nice Cameras!

I've had these cameras for about 3 weeks now and so far, I'm very pleased with them. Set up was SO EASY. I have no experience with anything like this at all, and it only took me about 20 minutes to get all of the cameras connected and working. I really love that this system is completely wireless and I didn't have to try to wire up a power source or anything. The picture quality is great day or night, the app is easy to use, and the ability to speak to someone on the other end of the camera is really cool. I've noticed about a 3 second lag though, and sometimes the app has trouble connecting to the camera in order to enable the microphone...but I'm not sure if that's an issue with the camera connecting, an issue with my internet, or an issue with my phone service. I have two cameras set up outside right now and one that's actually unprotected has definitely proved it's weather worthiness after all this rain we've received the last couple of weeks. I haven't got mine securely mounted yet, but I'm hoping to do that this weekend. I'd definitely recommend this system.

Arlo - Pro 2 Security Camera System, 2-Camera Kit, Wire-Free, 1080p, Weather Proof, Indoor/Outdoor - White is an excellent piece of home security. Setting the system up was simple. All I needed to do was to connect the Base Station to my router and then to a power supply and then sync my cameras with the Base Station. After that initial process, I went to the Google Play store to download the Arlo App. The Arlo App allows me to configure the system as I see necessary to achieve the highest level of security. There are tutorial videos, troubleshooting tips and support from the Arlo website. The cameras can be placed on a level surface or attached to an Arlo magnetic mount that secures the camera at an angle or on a wall. When motion is detected, I get an email stating that Arlo has detected motion on one of my cameras and here are the details. The details Arlo sends are a video in color of what is on camera and the date and time of the incident. The clarity of the Arlo cameras is magnificent. There appears to be a five second delay from camera transmission to my phone, but that fact is insignificant. The video is amazingly clear and defined. No home intruder would justifiably be able to say that he/she is not the person on Arlo’s video capture. Small scratches and small items appear larger and more defined than by looking at them with plain eyesight. The night vision appears to brighten the video so much that the clarity makes it look as though the video was captured with a lightened background. When the need arises to scare an intruder, the siren feature can be used. The siren feature is too noisy to ignore and would definitely create curiosity with people nearby. Also, I was able to speak on my phone and hear myself from the camera, which is what an intruder would hear! The Arlo - Pro 2 Security Camera System, 2-Camera Kit, Wire-Free, 1080p, Weather Proof, Indoor/Outdoor is a top of the line device!

I was impressed on how easy this system was to set up. Very easy to set up the base station and install cameras. The picture quality is excellent and the ability to store videos in the cloud is very nice. The app is easy to use and makes it easy to set up an account. I wish there was some additional adjustments that could be made including notification settings through the app. If you are looking for a serviceable camera system that is easy to manage, this is a great choice.

It has been two weeks since I connected this set of security cameras from Netgear and so far I am very happy with its performance. It's very easy to install just connect Arlo's base station to your router and follow the instructions: press power button wait few seconds to get connection then press the sync/ siren button on top of your base station wait for the light to start flashing then press the sync button on your camera and wait for the blue light to start flashing fast and do the same with the other camera. I did set the internet connection first and then I downloaded the app on my phone which is very easy to use, once I created my user profile I got an email asking me to confirm my email address to complete the Arlo Account setup. In the App you can create your own recording schedule, you can modify your setting for each camera individually ( just adjust your settings according your needs like activate motion detection, recording, turning on /off cameras, deleting videos). For video storage I plugged an USB thumb drive at the back of the station. Also you will get 7 days free storage on the cloud. One thing I liked a lot is the freedom to move the cameras anywhere you want in seconds and the battery supposed to last up to six months. Also beware the siren is very very loud. I am using both cameras inside, one at living room and the other one on my daughter's room; so far they are working fine they are 1080p resolution and two ways audio. I heard that using outdoors the quality is not that great or they can be stolen easily but at the end is up to you where you want to use them or place them. I would recommend Arlo Pro 2 because it's easy to use, basically plug and play and the most important: gives you a good security system that you can monitor from your phone, tablet or computer.

The ArloPro 2 system is easy to setup and use, works well and has some nice added features compared to previous versions. I had an original Arlo system, but returned it because motion detection was not accurate. That seems to have been fixed in this version. Pros: - Setup is very simple - The app works well, is intuitive and reliable - Video quality is good at 1080p and looks good in night vision - 7 days of free cloud recording - USB local storage Cons: - Audio is a nice feature but wasn’t very clear for me (could be my install locations, though) - This system costs a bit more than others, and adding cameras can really add up - Additional accessories are a bit pricey (mounts, skins and solar panel) Other: - Best features require AC power. Using activity zones for motion alerts, and continuous recording required the camera to be plugged in. I understand the power requirement, but if you can’t plug the cameras in, you aren’t getting some of the best features.

Great home security cam / baby monitor

The Arlo 2 checks off many boxes that we were looking for in a baby monitor. Design: clean white, small, unobtrusive footprint. The body of the camera is sleek and aesthetically pleasing, if you like soft lines. The bases are magnetic and don't function off of a mechanical swivel, so while the camera itself can't pan/tilt via remote control, it's extremely easy to find a perfect angle and due to the base using magnets, you don't have to worry about slippage or having to tighten screws every once in a while. Connectivity/setup: amazingly simple. Download the app to your phone, hit sync on the base then hit sync on the camera. Stupidly simple and worked on the first try. Features: motion detection was extremely sensitive, as was the sound detection. The best part is that I can grant access to family members to use the camera, so the grandparents can peek into the playroom from across the country. Unlike the Nest, which requires an unreasonably pricy monthly or yearly subscription in order to have access to recordings, the Arlo gives you a "basic" option that still allows for limited recording. If you want to save videos forever, then you'll have to pony up for a higher tier. For use as a baby monitor: our dedicated baby monitor got thrown out early because the flashing LEDs were so bright they'd wake our little one up when trying to focus during the night. The Arlo 2, maybe because it's designed as a home security camera, has very subtle LEDs that you can pick up on if you're looking for, otherwise they're not trying to floodlight the viewing area. TL;DR: easy to set up, well thought out features, excellent execution. Whether for use as a home security camera or a baby monitor, for our needs, the Arlo 2 fit perfectly

I was really excited to hear that Netgear was releasing the second generation Arlo Pro system. We have been using the first generation Arlo Pro for a year or so and it has proven really useful in so many ways. As someone who works from home the Arlo Pro allows me to determine if I should ignore a knock at the door while I'm on a business call in my home office or is it something that is important enough for me to answer the door. If it's FedEx or UPS at the door I can speak to them through the Arlo camera and ask that they simply leave the package on the front door. With the Arlo Pro 2 the video from the camera is in 1080p HD and the rechargeable batteries last a few weeks between charges. If you would prefer not to have to worry about charging the rechargeable batteries you a can also install the cameras where they would be plugged in directly to power. Arlo also works with Amazon Alexa, allowing you to view your camera on Echo Show or Fire TV. A few months ago I was traveling for work and my daughter was sad to find that her pet hamster had escaped and was somewhere in the upstairs of our home. While my wife could hear him at night she was not able to find him and catch him. I suggested that she remove the Arlo camera from the front of the house and place it in our master bathroom, near where she had heard him previously. The Arlo detected the hamster in the middle of the night and alerted my wife by text that motion was detected. The hamster was caught and returned to his cage and I'm confident that wouldn't have been the case without the Arlo. Those videos of the hamster caught by the Arlo also provided some humor to our friends and neighbors, several of which have since decided to install Arlo camera themselves.
