I love this wifi camera. I had the previous generation but this is much better as the picture quality is better. Also the fact that it has a microphone and speaker is a very useful feature. I also like the fact that it has a rechargeable battery.

The Arlo - Pro 2 Security Camera System is an excellent, wireless security solution. I have the 2-camera version. I was able to set it up and test it in less than 30 minutes! The whole set-up process is ridiculously simple and I really like the flexibility of the magnet mounts. The free basic plan sends me notifications, emails, texts - whatever I choose. It already helped me confirm a problem with a door mechanism that wasn't working properly - when it opened, Arlo notified me (via the camera's motion sensing feature) and I was able to look on my app and see what had happened! For some reason, there is a longer lag time between live action and video image than other systems I've used. But that's only a matter of about 5 seconds lag. Though not inexpensive, compared to traditional security solutions the Arlo Pro system is a DEAL!

This is a great system. Quality as well as performance for a very reasonable price. It was easy to set up and operate. Very good picture quality and definition even in low light conditions. This system is everything I had hoped for.

    Not A DVR

The plan was to integrate Arlo Pro 2 with the home z-wave setup and Alexa. Arlo 2 looked good. It had all the numbers, bells and whistles. The set up is easy but the packaging looks to be designed so that the contents can't be so easily put back inside. This type of home video security can not be compared to a DVR video security system. The Arlo Pro 2 has a USB port to attach a local storage device BUT you can only record and playback snippets based on the settings you chose for motion detect. There is no real time rewind and playback. They do have a subscription service plan called CVR (Constant Video Recording). CVR costs $100 per camera, per year. We already have a network video recorder with POE digital cameras. Arlo Pro 2 was supposed to be an upgrade with wireless cameras, but it's not working out for me. If you want a nice, simple easy system with good motion clips, then this might be for you. If you really want to have it covered then you might prefer a conventional home video DVR type setup.

    Excelent Security Camera system

Setup Setup was very easy by following simple steps 1) Connect the base station to network and power on. 2) Install batteries on to each of cameras 3) Sync each camera to the base station by pressing sync button on the base station and camera respectively. 4) Download the Arlo app follow steps to link your base station to the account. 5) Select position mode in the app/settings and place the cameras. Features / performance Arlo Pro2 has very good 1080p video quality. You can view live feed and recording though a mobile app and through website. Mobile app software controls are intuitive and are easy to use. Audio quality is ok. Night mode videos are not great but are reasonable. You can setup zones to monitor for each camera and set notifications. Whenever a camera senses motion in the zone it will send notification to mobile app and records a clip. You can watch these recording through mobile app. It comes with free 7 cloud recording. You can also connect USB storage device to store recordings locally. Rechargeable battery life is very good. After a month, battery life is still at 77%. Through app you can easily arm disarm and set schedules to monitor. It has geofencing option also where you can arm/disarm based on your mobile location. Arlo Pro2 is Alexa compatible Setup very easy by adding Arlo skill in Alexa app. You can use your fire TV to show any of the cameras. Expectations I had couple of IP cameras before. Arlo outperformed all these cameras. I really like wireless camera option. Price/Value Arlo Pro2 is little expensive but its well worth it. Overall I really like Arlo Pro2 system. I like easy setup, easy to use, good video quality, free 7 day cloud storage and Alexa integration. Disclaimer I received this Arlo Pro 2 Wire-Free Security System from NETGEAR as part of a review and test program.

i love this camera as an indoor camera or in the nursery. But if your wifi doesn't reach, This camera doesn't work. We tried to put it at the gate to our property....nope. We bought an internet booster, still nope. There is also a pretty long delay, which is really annoying.

Its a pile of frustrating trouble

Look, this thing is trouble. I mean pull your hair out, screaming frustrating trouble. When scouting out systems a few months ago, initial reviews were favorable. And hey, this is NetGear right? Wow. The day after purchasing, I found that all four cameras were up and running. A few hours later, one camera lost connectivity. I call tech support just in case. (I have a networking background so I was pretty sure I just missed something). After being on the phone with tech support for over an hour (multiple disconnects) we determined that the camera was faulty. Get this, I have to send it in on my dime and once they get it and examine the camera, they will send me a replacement. I finally got them to pay for shipping, but they wanted my credit card number anyway. hmmmm. Fortunately Best Buy just swapped one out for me. The new camera gets here and works for about a week. The only way it continues to communicate is while on the charger. Otherwise it is offline. I have spent so much time troubleshooting this system that I am ready to just quit. I am outside of my return period by about a month. So I can ship it back to ARLO and wait for another defective replacement or buy extra chargers and let them be wired cameras. Very disappointing.

Technology works as described. Feels solid, wireless, good image quality. You can only get free monitoring for up to 5 cameras, so the 6 camera kit needs the subscription. This could be more explicitly mentioned on item description

Overall Very Good, But Consider the Ultra

    Posted .

First off, I'm very technically savvy but this is my first security camera system. I reviewed six major online "Wireless Security Camera System" reviews performed in the last 12 months and 4 of the 6 recommended the Arlo Pro 2. Granted, the Ultra had not come out yet for most of these reviews, so once I narrowed down my choice to Arlo I simply compared the two systems by reviewing the specs and the online reviews at Best Buy and other places. I decided to go with the Pro 2 for four main reasons: 1) it came highly recommended by reputable reviews, 2) it provided FREE 7-day cloud access to my videos (unlike the Ultra), 3) it was (at the time) about half the price of the high-end Ultra model, and 4) I saw many complaints about long-distance WIFI connectivity with the Ultra by new users (and I can't speak to the issue personally obviously, but since my install distance was going to be pretty far I was afraid to take that risk). So here are my initial thoughts about installation and 2 weeks full-time use: 1) It's a nifty system that's very easy to setup -- had it up and running in no time. Included magnetic mounts are the easiest things I've ever installed! 2) I wish it had a 5Gz WIFI band, but it seems to be working well enough on 2.4Gz passing through multiple walls and one floor at about 75 feet (not a great signal but good enough). 3) Both cameras are installed outside, with temps thus far ranging from about 40-80 degrees F. Here's a HUGE plus in my opinion -- even with lots of testing and camera adjustments, both batteries are STILL at about 90% after two weeks. Awesome! 4) The Arlo App (on Android at least) is great...very user friendly with lots of settings. For those who have read it elsewhere, there is a noticeable "lag" (3-5 sec) between when you ping a camera to connect to when you get the video feed -- but all of this can't be blamed on Arlo (i.e., think of all the connections being made to make this happen!) 5) I don't really use the "sound" capability to talk to anyone, but if I did it seems to be adequate but not great (the ability to hear someone talking on the stream). 6) Night vision quality is actually pretty good in very low light, but if you have any bright source of light anywhere in the video -- such as headlights on a passing car (and I don't mean directly pointed at the camera, either) -- it renders the clarity almost useless (we live in a Condo complex and planned to use one camera to watch for cars going into and out of the complex for security -- at about 50-60ft -- but it failed this role at night time miserably) 7) Lastly, daytime video/image quality. Yes, its 1080HD...BUT, it's also spread across a really wide angle. What this means is what you see when you look at this on your phone and try to zoom to see detail will leave you disappointed (and it's worse on a larger screen). It certainly did me. If I had to do it over again I would spend the extra money for the Ultra (which is 4K, meaning you'll probably get very good 1080HD detail out of it). But for the purpose of just watching our front entry and rear patio, the Arlo Pro 2 suffices...so I'm keeping it since it seems to be performing admirably for our own security purposes (even though we can't use it for more extended complex secuirty).

No data, no power, just sync and deploy. Easy to upgrade in the future and it just works. Getting data or power to a camera just is not always possible. Here is your solution.

'm happy so far with my Arlo Pro 2 system. They were easy to set up, and work as advertised. I'm only giving them 4 stars because, at least right now, the integration with Amazon/Alexa is weak - it would be great to be able to change modes with voice control.

    Buyer Beware

After one month of daily use, I cannot recommend the Arlo Pro 2. It is a glitchy, problematic device. I purchased the Arlo Pro 2 because I wanted an outdoor, wireless security device. Because of the favorable BB customer reviews, I chose the Arlo Pro 2. When it functions, it can with clear video and notifications. The Arlo App is easy to use. But interspersed in the Arlo Pro 2's daily use are unexplained "offline" hours requiring frequent system restarts, blurred lenses and batteries that drain in 2 weeks NOT 2-4 months even when optimized. Raindrops obscure the camera lens, outdoor heat drains your batteries. Arlo customer service is just as glitchy and problematic as the wireless cameras they sell. There's nothing like an epic system shutdown because your batteries drain quickly. BTW you'll have to remove the camera to facilitate battery recharging. If you're going to waste your cash, buy additional batteries and a dual fast charger. Last night, the Arlo Pro 2 went "offline." Two hours later, it is still offline despite system restarts. It's a wrap, I'm done. I'm going to continue my search for a reliable, outdoor wireless security device. I've spent at least $1000 for the Arlo Pro 2 hub, 3 cameras, outdoor mounts, additional batteries and a dual fast battery charger. I don't want a refund. But I'd love to get my money's worth. I will continue my search for a reliable, wireless outdoor security device, avoiding the Arlo brand.

I am an Arlo believer after this product. I love the idea of a smart home, and these cameras fit PERFECTLY in that concept. Very high quality clips are recorded ANY time someone/something passes by the cameras. To top it all off, the app for the cameras is awesome, works well on my android phone and iPhone. A big big plus, as a lot of companies can’t get apps right for both OSes. If you have any desire to monitor home security, you owe it to yourself to buy these. Don’t buy the other brands - Arlo is without a doubt the absolute best.
