Several issues, which I could give it zero stars

Night video is such poor quality I couldn't tell if I was looking at a cat or a raccoon that was 8 feet away from the camera. Delays in motion detection over the Arlo Pro. Going offline very often. Not to mention the issues with the power cable a few weeks ago Save your money

    Good camera system

I purchased the Arlo Pro 2 6 camera system 1/27/19. Setup was very easy and the system works well with my Orbi modem/router. The day time cameras work great and the video is super clear. The night mode works well but could use better quality video. If you turn on flood lights during night mode the video quality is much better. All the cameras are being used as wireless and nothing hard wired. As of 2/5/19 my batteries are all 70-85%. Motion is set between 42-50% but I disarm them while at home to save battery. I have one camera inside facing out and during the day it works fine but at night it will not record due to the reflection of the glass. I knew this ahead of time but wanted the camera in that location for daytime recording only. The sound is good and live video is nice. The wireless range is good, I have them installed in a 3000 sqft. home Overall these are very good cameras and I would recommend them to anybody looking. Hopefully they get the night recording mode video quality better.

    Not thrilled with it

I wanted a decent, reliable camera with audio capability. Because I wanted it installed correctly with minimal aggravation, I opted to go with the Geek Squad. I'm a senior citizen with limited tech skills. I don't mind paying for quality and service. An outdoor camera could be easily stolen, so I had it installed over the front door and out of reach of much of the criminal class. A good idea so long as the crook looks up and poses. Installation by the Geek guy was pretty quick and he was agreeable and helpful. Unfortunately, I did not ask about the audio. After hours or trying, I was not able to get it to function. Naturally, instructions these days are either non existent or erroneous and my extensive computer search was pointless. Based on experience, I figured something would go wrong and that's why I paid the hundred bucks for professional help. I was assured by the Best Buy rep that a full explanation of how to operate the system was included. I phoned the Geek Squad person (voice mail naturally) but never got a call back. Days later, I emailed him. More days and no response to that. Long story short- - I paid for a security camera with two way audio and ended up with a rather expensive camera with no audio. By the way, my internet explorations did reveal that a LOT of people have trouble with the audio feature on the Arlo Pro 2. I could easily mark this unit down to one star, but it did take a nice clear shot of a black cat last night at 3PM.

Cameras good, not all batteries are good.

I love the cameras. Only downside, was that I received 2 batteries that were not as good as the other 2. they last only half as long. I tried installing in different camera, same thing. I had them in a box for 6 months before using, so I advise you use them right away, so if there is an issue you can take it for exchange, and you wont have to deal with defective batteries

This is a purchase you will not regret! Installation was a cinch; so easy that even I could do it! (Luckily my husband and our daughter’s boyfriend took care of that.) I really like the phone app notifications when the camera has caught movement. It comes in real handy for my hubby, too: He can check the driveway before he gets home to make sure no one in the family has parked in “his spot.” The video quality is superb whether recorded during the day (regular mode) or night (night vision). Both the computer monitoring at https://arlo.netgear.com/#/login and phone app software have been 100% glitch-free. The only upgrade I can think of that would be really useful is a laser beam that renders any intruder paralysed until the police arrive! Hey, a girl can hope, right? Again, if you’re on the fence about this purchase, I hope this review gives you a gentle nudge (wouldn’t want’cha to hurt yourself) to take the leap. Again, you won’t regret it.

Some Things Good, But Others No So Much

Installation was painless, and the interface works well. However: 1. No Date/Time Stamp. Many systems allow the date/time stamp directly on the video image. In some jurisdictions, this is required for the video to be used in evidence. Arlo's chat line beats around the bush on this issue. The only thing close is to screen grab the playback from the cloud storage and include the out-of-frame date/time. 2. 1080p video. It isn't just the pixel resolution that counts. The video compression is also critical since the artifacts of compression (smearing) impact on what can be distinguished during playback...facial recognition and license plates are examples. Side-by-side comparisons between the Arlo Pro2 and EUFY E show that the EUFY has better resolution -- both cameras are 1080p. 3. Fixed mounting. The magnet mounts are OK for indoors, but if using them outside, you might just as well label them with "STEAL ME". The Arlo mounts that allow you to set and hold the position of the camera cost $19.99 each. (You can buy another brand for $10.99 a pair.) 4. Zoning: You can set up optical detection zones (up to three user defined rectangles) -- but only if you get the optional monthly package. This is essential for me because I am slightly below grade on a hillside, and need to exclude vehicles and pedestrians just passing along the street. 5. I may be missing this, but I don't seem to have control over how long the camera stays on once triggered. I have ordered a Eufy E system from an online retailer, and will be able to compare them side-by-side. My guess is that the Arlo Pro 2 will be returned.

    Frustration

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I REALLY wanted to like these cameras. I was excited to get them and put them up. This is my first surveillance system so I had high hopes, at least that's what I thought. I buy things based off reviews and really tried to ignore some on here and wish I wouldn't have. First off, the night vision on these camera's is TERRIBLE. No matter how much you adjust the camera's the picture is washed out. I would not be able to make out a raccoon or a human being at 25 ft. The daytime camera's are good. I like the fact that there is no plan you have to buy like with the Nest cams. You can "Arm" the camera's to record when motion is detected, but here's where it all ended for me. I contacted Arlo and the rep told me that all outdoor power cables are RECALLED and there is NO known date when they will become available again. REALLY NETGEAR? So, here's what that means. Have a flag or ANY bushes outside of your house that sway in the wind? Well, if you do, enjoy your phone, tablet, whatever, sending you alerts every 10 seconds, literally. You can not use motion zones with these cameras unless they are hooked up to an AC power supply, but again, they are all recalled! I have mine hooked up to the solar panels and it does not give me the option to block out specific areas when the cameras are armed. The sides and back of the house are ok, not much motion there. The front of the house? Forget it. I wanted the power cable for the front so I could block out my flag and part of the street. Yes I can adjust the camera, but if I did, I'd have such a small area and field of view, I would've just left it for my RING doorbell. Overall, great concept Arlo, but your night vision is awful and the fact you guys don't have something as SIMPLE as an AC power cord that works really upsets me considering I spent over a grand on the whole setup.

I had an older model of Arlo cameras that I use at a vacation home and decided to give the newer model a try for my primary home. From closed box to operation took about 20 minutes to set up. The setup process was able to recognize that I already had a Netgear account for my home router and used that so I didn't have to set up a separate Arlo account. I was impressed with the new features which included rechargeable batteries, the option to power with A/C, audio as well as video, and an audio alarm feature. I'm considering purchasing these for my small business as well. I would highly recommend these as a basic home surveillance solution. Note that I received these cameras from Netgear as part of a review and test program. That said, the above opinions are an honest opinion of my experiences with Arlo products.

    Expensive Toy

The picture quality is way below what is advertised. The images were quite fuzzy and pixelated, especially indoors. WIFI range was about 50ft when going through 2 walls. Motion detection was too slow and battery life was also extremely poor. It says up to several months but that is if you have 0-2 recordings per day on the lowest quality setting. Don't bother with even trying it. It's a good idea but executed very poorly. Lastly, $500 for a two camera system that you have to take down the cameras to charge is ridiculous.

Bought this camera system to replace a problem camera from another company; installed outdoor on a balcony, over looking a lot. Spent 3 days studying how to use this camera, prior to purchase. Easy install, subscribed to Arlo smart plan. 4 days of the camera not recording anything for hours at a stretch, even though all indicators were saying otherwise. 4 days of reading posts on Arlo forum with the same problem. I tried the suggested remedies. Sometimes the missing alerts/videos would show up the next day in the library, with missing action less than 20 feet away, that I knew of. Cars & people coming and going in front of the camera. Several times the camera labeled people as "Animals". When it recorded, the video was clear. This camera overlooked an area of high theft occurrence, I need a video that records Every Time, people & vehicles enter the camera. **NOTE** Almost all the incidents were less than 20 feet from the camera. I took the Arlo back to the store.

Love this camera, download the app and the rest is easy.. what I like about the camera, the picture quality is excellent, the microphone works well it picks up all sounds including leaves thrashing on a windy day, Wi-Fi connection was a breeze, beautifully designed cameras black/white casings. The only disappointing issue with this great performer is with Arlo, why not include outdoor attachments/mounts? at $19.99 each plus shipping is a little bit too much.. the mount provided is not for outdoor use a strong Texas wind and is on the ground or at my neighbors house. I would give it four stars, however we're talking about performance and quality build only.. not needed attachments.

Very unhappy, I had Arlo Pro1, I wish I had them back, the Pro 2 is a waste of money, way overpriced for what you get, they advertise it as 1080p, but I have my dough's, night vision is terrible, hazy and grainy, illumination is terrible, motion sensor reaction time is very bad. I could go on but I think you get the point, save your money.

Easy to install and use, but major drawbacks

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is a great product if you cannot do anything else. To use advanced features you need to plug in a power cord and pay fees to use the services which depend on an Internet connection. The ease of installation and easy interface are where it shines. There are major drawbacks that you need to consider before plopping down a lot of money that could be spent on better quality systems. The downsides are major problems that buyers need to be aware of. 1) They have fixed lenses which means that you cannot adjust the lens to frame the area you want to record. Rarely is the mounting location in the best spot for the fixed lens. 2) The resolution of 1080 (1MP) is very entry level for today's CCTV equipment. Today's cameras are usually 4MP with the best being 8MP. 12MP are available but still expensive. The higher the resolution the better the picture looks and you have the ability to zoom in before the picture begins to pixelate. This is important if you are trying to see a face or zoom in on a tag number. 3) The wireless nature makes it easy to install, but it restricts the distance it can be installed, makes it subject to jamming or interference, and limits the resolution because higher MP requires more bandwidth than this can achieve. 4) These cameras have no real night vision, so things at night are not visible. Night time is when most incidents will occur, so without great night vision the cameras are worthless. Good cameras will have at least 50 feet viewable indoor and 100 feet night time LED night vision. Run network cables and use good quality cameras with a good NVR and you will spend a little more money, but the quality will be night and day better.
