I am so happy with this camera. If you have a bad experience, please check your home wifi. Please make sure the wifi is strong enough because Arlo pro 2 is the high definition camera

    Great system for DIY

This system is what I wanted for my home. One problem is the firmware upgrade of 11/20/18: It has a glitch that intermittently prevents access to the "mode" sub-menu. It takes several attempts to arm or disarm the system. I hope that Netgear reads this review and does a fix. I would then give it 5 stars.

    Arlo is almost junk

Arlo is almost garbage. I would rate it less than a 1 if I could. I've had the system about 1.5 years or more. It does have some good aspects I could check to make sure my ex girlfriend that lived in my house for awhile (long story) didn’t leave stove on or check on the animals when I’m gone. As far as security it’s pretty bad. While gone on trips some camera would go offline and only way to get them back was to delete them and take battery out then reinstall it, something you can’t do from 200 miles away. Also they should be able to detect humans only. The animals set it off or tress blowing set it off all the time no matter what sensitivity settings i use and I've tried different sensitivity settings and zones and more. Also I found by having different modes like "away" which means all cameras working or at "home" which meant only outside cameras working seemed to exaggerate the cameras going off line. Only having one mode and turning off inside cameras drastically reduced cameras going offline on their own but is time consuming to do all the time. I have 8 cameras and 3 inside. The system cries wolf soooooo much as a security systems its pretty useless. It also misses a lot. Sometimes I leave all cameras on when home and you might see one person walk into a room but the next room doesn’t trigger and same with outside might get a recording of someone driving into lower driveway but upper driveway misses them. Also at the entry door inside it might not start recording until the person is almost out of the room and had times where I couldn’t tell if it was my daughter or my ex girlfriend which are built almost as opposite as possible. I also bought two ultra cameras and they aren’t much better picture quality than the pro 2’s. Most of the time I can’t tell the difference. Also mounting the Pro 2’s can be difficult, the female threads in the camera are offset and next to the magnet for magnetic mounting. If you want to mount the outside cameras more securely it’s a bit tough especially on a ladder to get the male threads on the mount bracket to start because of the offset and magnet. Which also makes changing batteries difficult if there is no power source to a camera. Some cameras are blurry at night. I have 8 cameras including 2 ultra and 3 are blurry at night. Argh !!! tried all kinds of things to fix so far is find cameras that work inside and clear at night and switch with outside cameras. Don't have any left to switch to now if another acts up. Only good think about the ultras is battery change you don’t have to unscrew camera from its mounting but the power cord is ridiculous and expensive and a special item only for the ultra’s. The pro 2’s use a micro usb connector that are cheap and you can get anywhere. The Arlo system is slightly better than a competitors that I tried and returned. Should have returned the Arlo’s but seemed better at first then was too late to return so I’m stuck with a really poor camera security system. I would NEVER EVER NEVER buy these again. Extremely unhappy and a huge waste of money :(

    International Best Buy Customers Beware!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I found this product on the Arlo website. NONE of its technical specifications discussed voltage, country of use limitations for the set or the subscription. To purchase I was referred to BestBuy. I spent two hours with the Geek - and purchased this system and the Ring system and rung up $1700 with the following invoice. Your Customer Service PIN is: 1028 024 5012 100218 The box had no mention of country limitations. The technical specifications on the BestBuy website had no mention of the international limitations or that the base station was not dual voltage. I packed the system to use in my business in Zimbabwe to find that it had a single voltage adapter for the base station. When I went back to BestBuy they suggested a voltage adapter - still no one to tell me - the product according to an obscure knowledge base on Arlo's website is ONLY for use in NA if you want the Free service that includes the Sixth camera and the free Q offered in the kit. Otherwise when you get to the other side of the world, your system is only good for 5 cameras and you CANNOT subscribe for a different service if you do not have an IP in one of a handful of countries that Arlo "supports" in this new global world. They don't even support the countries they manufacture the equipment in or provide their customer support. Which brings me to customer support. Customer support is a parrot of the knowledge base. They can't fix the problem. They tell you you should have read the knowledge base and they are not responsible for what the salesman said, or what the box said, or what the specifications say. They cannot free your email address to subscribe to their service but perhaps you can VPN with a US ip and sign up but you would have to have your base station and your computer on the same VPN network. I finally got this answer after two hours on the chat group, two hours with Philippines Level 1 support, and 40 Minutes with Level 2 support, and still waiting for a callback from a Level 2 supervisor who may "allow" me to speak to someone in America who can clear my IP or decide not to and allow me to get what I paid so much for. Here is my point, I am no technical clown - I know my stuff - I would have never invested the money if I know what I know now and if the information was readily available on the packaging, on the manufacturer's technical specifications, on BestBuy's specifications, or from the Geek at BestBuy. I have not been able to get to the point of testing the equipment in a real environment but it is a bandwidth hog. The USB service it turns out is not an alternative, but a backup - therefore if you don't have significant bandwidth, you will limit your own connectivity if you don't reduce recording events. No! This is not a product I would recommend and given the false and deceptive marketing information, I'm not sure I would trust the company's rhetoric in general. I formerly owned Zimbabwe's largest ISP and have used electronic equipment extensively throughout the world. There isn't a single available consumer friendly explanation for the geographical limitations placed on the functionality Arlo Pro 2 subscriptions and kits by NetGear.

    HORRIBLE NIGHT VISION

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Bought the Arlor Pro 2 today hoping the bad reviews for night vision and whatnot wasn't as bad as other customers said it was, but unfortunately after setup and night fell, the night vision is possible. Very cloudy and grainy for the price I paid for these cameras. Will be returning for the pro! Do not buy!! They need to fix this feature for a 1080p, it's not all it is meant to be! Do not my this.

I dont see any pros in this such an exoensive camera when it lacks basic features. Triggers alarm even when it detects moving trees, cats, clothes etc. night vision is very poor without a light. Finally it turned cameras off and i cant even return it. When i called arlo customer sevice, i was told i need to buy monthly subscription package to use smart features. Moving trees and cats are not smart features for me, thats basic features any cameras should have. Another problem is battery. It died within 2 months.

Arlo Pro 2 4 camera system

Great system. Works wonderful with our Comcast Xfinity internet. Was a breeze to hook up. Love the 3 second prior to motion playback. love the app that alerts your phone. Love the 2 way talk feature and the alarm panic button. Its great being able to hook it up by wire to minimize your motion detector zone. Love the cloud back up for 7 days. No complaints. Its great it doesn't costs us monthly and gives us peace of mind. Definitely worth the cost. After doing our research and comparing the older model and the other options, we are glad we got the arlo pro 2.

    Expensive Junk

Received four cameras yesterday and returning them today. Numerous problems. The good - the video quality for the live feed is ok, although delayed. By the time you get the video, someone will have entered your house. The bad - No CVR unless the unit is plugged into a socket, serious lag time, motion on one camera is set off if the wind blows a leaf and you get 100 annoying notices, app is flawed, motion and notice does not work on the other cameras, non-existent to horrible customer support.

    Horrible product

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The battery only can use for about a week( the salesman told me it can last about 10 months). The camera motion detection system is terrible (it caught people going to the house, but didn’t catch people get out the house. Tow exits are same direction). Videos only last 7 days(you will never get them back. But the salesman told me it can keeps all the videos). Settings are way complicated and not comprehensive. The only way you can keep the videos is download them, but no dates(use camera is to keep evidence, how can it be no dates on the videos). And it’s not convenient to do download them.

Forget viewing anything real time. There is a 12 to 18 second lag. Night vision is poor and sensitivity is unpredictable. I’ve contacted Netgear twice about connectivity issues and lag time and they always blame the router. I’ve got state of the art router and I have just a 2 second lag with my 5 Nest cameras. Don’t get sucked in with free cloud recording.

I recently integrated my house with smart things and I sold by prior blink camera. This are much better and have more features although I think the software should be streamlined a little bit to make it easier to navigate and change things.. Anyways the only purpose that I bought them because of the smart things hub integration and works awsome I added them I can used them as camara and motion sensor as well. No issues So I do recommend for those people interested in integrating with smart things

Worked great (for a few months)

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I was really happy with the set I purchased, two outside cameras. The app was easy to use and despite a little lag in recording I thought the system was great. Then, after three months (right when support ran out) the batteries that are supposed to last for months suddenly needed to be charged after only a week or so. Nothing had changed in the set up which is of course where netgear lays the blame. The community forums are full of complaints with no resolution on sight. Such a disappointment after having spent a significant amount on this set. If you’re looking for security cameras, look elsewhere unless you enjoy climbing on ladders and repositioning your camera on a weekly basis.

Just Okay - Range of Base Station VERY POOR

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I just spent quite a large amount of money on the 6 camera system and although I like the camera image quality, the base station has horrible range. Arlo's solution, move my router! Well, like many ppl, that is just not an option. How about Arlo provides a base station that has a range greater than say 75 feet. I live in a ranch and I can't even get this system to connect at my garage which is less than 75 feet from the base station. I can't see how this is a viable product in larger homes. I have good wifi coverage in my home BUT Arlo uses their base station to communicate with the cameras and their base station does not appear to have enough juice to connect the supposed 300 feet....I know, I know - 300 feet with direct line of sight BUT who has that in their home? And if you do, you would not be installing an Arlo system, you would be living in a mansion and have a professional system installed. Very disappointed!!!

I bought the cameras to watch my 5 cats. I wanted to know if a cat got sick. I found where a cat threw up on the floor. I looked back at all my alert pictures not one alert showed the cat getting sick. The camera does not seem to catch all movement. This has happen more that once where the camera alert did not pick up movement of the cats actions. Going to put one camera on front of the house. The camera may not pick up everyone that approaches my house. Do not have a lot of confidence in this camera. I have several friends that have the camera and like it.
