Security for your Home!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Arlo Pro System is an amazing camera system with a lot to offer but as any with any item, could use a few improvements. Starting off with the great, the ease of setup was simply amazing. I used my Android phone for the entire setup, never needed a computer. I found a central location for the base in my home and plugged it in to the wall and attached it to my LAN and turned it on. Next, I downloaded the Arlo App and went to work. Setup your Arlo account and find the device. You can name it and adjust a few setting at the setup. Next, connect your cameras, the very easy to assemble cameras I may add to this. The camera batteries came fully charged, no pre-charging needed, just install them. To connect your cameras, you can either hit sync on the base unit or via the app. I tried both and either way worked flawlessly. I then went ahead and mounted my cameras. One facing the front door and entry area and one in my kitchen covering the back door and dog, I want catch him getting on the counter. The magnetic base mounts are easy drill and screw attachments and make it quick and painless for aiming. The design was well thought, for inside use. I do not like the design for outside use, it would be really easy for someone to walk up and dismount outside. I plan on adding a outdoor camera, but I will but a solid screw mount for it, which they cameras do have built in, just not included in the kit. The night vision on the cameras are superb, I give them an A+ on that. Also, the cameras picture quality is better than many camera systems out there, crisp pictures and easy to see, definitely better than most store security systems. The 2 way speakers are almost useless, you have to yell in your phone for anyone to hear you. The app interface is decent, needs improvements but not many. The notification and emails on/off need to be added to the schedule option for one, this is a must. I do not need 200 emails while I am gone at work, app notifications are enough. Second, I would like to have a manual record button that saves my video to a local drive, I do not like the cloud based option only. Arlo already has the memory stick backup option there, why not let the system record all the time and when it detects motion, backup to the cloud. You add this feature, you will have an industry winning combo, would be no reason to buy another system. Overview and quick notes • Easy setup • No computer needed • Loud base siren • Poor audio output on 2 way camera speakers • Magnetic bases great inside, not so much outside • Camera assembly was painless • Awesome night vision • Top notch resolution • Needs interface options added to Arlo program • Must have option added for always on recording to local drive Look at Arlo Pro, it is a compact system, no wires and no hassle.

Extremely Simple Setup and Installation
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This system is simply amazing at how easy it is to setup. Took me no more than 10 minutes to connect the base, create an account, sync the cameras, and login with the iPad app. Installation of the cameras is also simple since you mount a magnetic bracket (two screws) and then stick the camera to it. The camera batteries come fully charged so it's ready to use right out of the box. Configuring the motion detection for each camera takes a little time, but is again extremely easy using the IOS apps. After setup, it simply works. Pictures and video are very clear even at night. Since batteries are supposed to average 6 months and have only had system a week, can't comment yet on actual life and recharging time. Only negative so far is it's pricey. But again you get what you pay for.

not the best system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Set up was easy. Style was nice. But the app for your phone was not user friendly. If you logged in on your your phone it would disconnect from your tablet. Live feed was not available. Over all was very disappointed with this product. And I returned it.

Returned this product
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What's the point of a system that claims you can talk back and forth with the people on camera if the turn around time takes 15+ seconds. Was so excited for this product, but took it back and purchased a ring doorbell instead. The ring product works fine.

Phenomenal System, WAY Easier Than Expected!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been going back and forth on getting a camera system for the home, not so much because I live in a bad neighborhood (I don't) but more for peace of mind when traveling and for when the wife is home alone. This has been going on for about two years and I have looked at every system and read countless reviews of many of the systems out there. Finally decided to pull the trigger when I get the chance to get the Arlo Pro 2-camera system. I am extremely tech savvy and routinely put together the computer systems and electronics for all of my friends and family but I was still expecting to have a bit of a time with this camera system mostly because it was the one device that I have never had to set up. Frankly this was one of the easiest devices I have ever had the pleasure to do. The only thing that was easier was perhaps my Netgear Orbi system which leads me to believe that the team at Netgear (which makes the Arlo as well) is doing a phenomenal job of trying to make technology as easy and seamless to use as possible. Heck, I would even bet my father, who is a notorious technophobe, could put this together and I'm sure he would have little problems. He would probably still call me though just to check. ; ^ ) Some of the things that made me really like the Arlo Pro system over the regular system were the two-way audio system and the rechargeable battery. The two-way audio was important so that my wife could communicate with someone at the front door if she were alone and wanted to either scare them off or see what a visitor needed. The rechargeable battery was important because I really did not want to string power to these and I didn't want to be burning through AA batteries like a fiend. I picked up two extra battery blocks for the camera so that they could be pre-charged and ready to swap when the camera runs out of steam. I'm thinking of picking up the two battery charger when it becomes available later in the month. Some features I really appreciate since installing the system are the App functionality and the USB drive local storage option. Remember when setting up a network system you had to typically be hardwired into the base station and do all the configuration through a web portal? Well now you can do everything with an app on your phone without ever having to plug a cable into anything other than your modem! Now Netgear isn't the only company that is doing this, I have used the Linksys app as well for others and it is also good but the Netgear apps for both the Orbi and Arlo are phenomenal. I am able to sync, set up, calibrate, configure, schedule and monitor everything through my iPhone with absolute ease. The part that took the longest was actually installing the camera mounts, and that wasn't even that hard. The USB local drive storage is great because I can store a ton more video than comes with the free 7-day plan (though really that would have been just fine as well). It is a little extra peace of mind that I really appreciated. I have only had two issues with setting up the Arlo system and it is a function of how my home is built/set-up and not the fault of the camera. Despite spending so much time thinking about getting a camera system, I did not put much thought into where and how I would install them! Quite a few factors went against me once I went to put this system in place. First off, I have a stucco home with very little wood available in which to mount the brackets. A neighbor installed a camera system to his outside walls and did a real number on the stucco so I was really hesitant to want to drill into mine. The other problem was that even if I did want to drill into the outside wall I do not have a really good surface with a great view of the front door that would detect motion well. The best place I could figure would be looking at someone from behind as they approached the door and that would not help much because it was going to be a pretty high view and my entry way is a relatively tight space. Also with my home being a Spanish revival, the walls are pretty stinking thick and even with the base station in a nice open location, the signal strength wasn't as high as I would have hoped. In the end though, I moved the base station closer to the front door which helped with the signal strength and I put one of the cameras indoors so I only had to worry about mounting one of them into the stucco. I did have to go out and purchase the upgraded external mount that the camera screws on to so that was an extra purchase as well. I didn't HAVE to since someone could steal the camera off of this mount as well but I wasn't going to make it as easy as just plucking off of the magnetic mount! Which by the way, you should not worry about being strong enough to hold up the camera, that magnet is a beast! All-in-all I am incredibly pleased with the Arlo system and can't think of a single home application where this system would not be perfect and heck even if you wanted it for work, I would just think that you would need to upgrade to the 24/7 recording package, the camera system is great even for a small business.

The idea of these cameras was better
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We ended up returning this product. We wanted outside cameras that we could view on our phone. These cameras are attached to base with magnet so basically someone can easily come and steal a camera if they aren't that high up which in my case my low roof made them easily accessible. The video feed on the phone app was very choppy and the Audio feature didn't work most of the time.

Excellent Cameras That Are Easy To Set Up
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought Netgear claim that these cameras are easy to set up and use was not going to be true. I am glad to admit that i was very wrong. Compared to most tech products these are one of the easiest things I have ever had to set up. I plugged everything in started the app and within minutes had a live feed of the camera. Near our doorway of our front entrance and it was perfect. we do not have many people come by besides the mail man or us and every time someone passed by and the camera activated I would get a message and be able to log on and immediately see what was going on. All around from the ease of use to quality of the video I am really impressed with the cameras. Anyone looking for some cameras I would tell them to purchase these.

Pleasantly surprised
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will start with the packaging. The product comes in a box plastic hybrid of sorts so that you can see the cameras but everything else is boxed up fairly nicely. My only complaint here was the plastic holding the cameras seeme a little flimsy and unboxing the thing was a little confusing at first with the way it was taped shut and folded. Setup and configuration was, I have to say, one of the easiest and quickest setups of a camera product i have had to deal with in a long time. It was a welcome surprise with how easy it was to plug everything in the for the first time. Getting the base plugged up and logging in with the arlo app was very fast and easy, and pairing cameras with the base was just as fast. Form fit function and use: so the user interface from the app is very easy and intuitive (at least for me) you log in with your account and the main page shows you all of your devices. Setting up Geo fencing was fairly quick and painless as well. Although figuring out how to add a second device for fencing was a little less intuitive. In case you are wondering first you have to send an invite to the second user for the app so they can log in. Then from your app you have to enable geofencing for them. I guess it makes sense so that other users can't randomly add themselves to shut the system off but was not clearly stated anywhere. The best thing about these cameras is the fact that they are so easy to place. The cameras come with a little metal dome that you can easily mount to a wall or wherever you want to attach it and then the camera back is magnetic so it just sticks to the dome. Now the only down side to this would be that if its outside it would be fairly easy to run off with. All someone would need to do is pull it down and since there are no wires that's all there is to it. However for in the home the magnetic base is nice because you can stick it to anything a magnet will stick to. We have an all metal porch door and it sticks to it with no problem no mounting disk needed. The cameras also have a flat bottom so if you want you can just set them on a shelf or other level place. Overall The cameras seem to work well and the battery is supposed to last several months with limited use so we will see if that holds true or not. I did dock it a star because of the security aspect though. I understand these are weatherproof but unless you put it someplace that is very hard to get to it would be easy to walk off with one if someone wanted to.
