I have been using the non pro wired Arlo cameras for a while now, having 4 of them, and I have been very happy with them. So I was confident that I would be very happy with these Arlo Pro wireless cameras. Out of the box they look and feel like a high quality product. Setup was quick and easy, though 1 of the cameras had to be paired a couple of times before it worked. (A minor inconvenience.) One of the main reasons I chose my original Arlo cameras was that Netgear includes free cloud storage for you to retrieve any video from the last 7 days of recordings. I was very disappointed when setting up the cameras, to learn that the basic, free Arlo cloud account only allows up to 5 cameras. You have to pay for an upgraded account to use additional cameras. Still this is a feature that I did not find from any other manufacturer. In comparing the wireless Pro Arlo cameras to the wired Arlo cameras I noted the following differences: 1) The wired cameras records in 1080p and the wireless Pro is 720p. However, the difference wasn't noticeable. Video quality is quite good. 2) There is a significant delay in the video, much more so on the wireless Pro. Maybe as much as 5-6 seconds. Now, this is not a problem on watching the video, but if you want to have a 2 way conversation, well, that's simply not going to work. In addition, these cameras are advertised as indoor/outdoor cameras. However, the mounts are magnetic. This makes removing the cameras very quick and easy. This is great if you use them indoors. But, how long do you think these would last outdoors before someone steals them. There are optional mounts which the camera screws into, however, this would not stop a crook but does make it inconvenient to take down for charging. The only other problem I had was that Netgear states that the camera comes fully charged and indeed the charger seemed to indicate that it was fully charged. However, the first charge only lasted 24 hours. I think a full charge overnight will take care of this issue. So the bottom line is that these are very good cameras with the all important free cloud storage account. There are some issues which I have mentioned, but non are important enough to dissuade me from purchasing or recommending these. But, before I would give these a whole hearted recommendation, I do have to mention that I think the full retail price is a ittle high. So I would wait for them to either go on sale or have their price reduced just as the wired Arlo camera prices have come down.

Nothing but problems from day one. Sometimes it records motion, most times it doesn't unless your as big as a car.And yes I have my motion settings to the most sensitive. System wouldn't work for a week after 6 months of owning it. Called help line, they fixed it but charged me $100.00 to do so. Dont waste your money on this system.

Arlo doesn't have an app on Windows yet. Or, macOS. Visiting the website to view the camera feed is extremely annoying; the feed requires my browser to have Flash installed and enabled and this is a major security issue. Even on iOS/Android devices, the app loads very slow. The app would've been cool if this was 2010.

I thoroughly read the reviews both on Amazon and Best Buy websites for the set of 4 Arlo Pro cameras. I was wary due to some of the negative reviews but decided to give it a go. It's now 2 months since the cameras were installed outside of my home - I wanted to allow time for a more accurate review. The cameras are incredibly easy to install - wireless means no drilling for running cables. The Arlo app easily lets you frame the camera including an option to rotate the image in the event the camera is hanging upside down. I purchased two additional articulating mounts because I was unable to position the camera the way I wanted with the magnetic mount. One of the magnetic mounts is in a tree and it has held pretty well - except for the time a squirrel bumped the camera and repositioned it! I read many reviews about how sensitive the cameras were and would record continuously when there was no movement in the frame. This initially happened with one of my cameras, but it turns out a juniper tree needed to be trimmed and the camera repositioned. Since then, no problems. Another concern was battery life. Arlo claims 4-6 months - two months in now, my cameras are at 55% from that initial charge and set to the Optimized video setting. The quality of the image is fairly good at this setting. I was sure to position the camera so it isn't triggered by any car passing by. The camera's sensitivity to motion is only about 7-10 ft in front of the camera. Arlo' ability to store videos in the cloud for one week is perfect. If it is an important video you can download it to your computer. You are also able to text or email the video. Arlo was attractive to me for its wireless capabilities and the fact that there is no monthly fee, like there is with Nest. I'm very pleased with the purchase and would recommend it to someone else.

One of the Best Home Survellience Systems

I have been using the Arlo Pro wireless security camera system for some time now and I can say that it is arguably one of the best home survellience devices available in the market today. The fact that it is a wireless system that can be mounted up to 300' away from the base station makes this system worth it. Just imagine the hassle, time, and money spent on running conduit, creating wall and ceiling penetrations, and wiring of a traditional hard-wired system. The cameras can be mounted virtually anywhere imaginable around your home or the outside of your home. The package I have comes with two wireless cameras and the base station. I simply installed one camera at the top of my front porch and another at the rear of the home facing out toward the back porch and rear yard. The cameras are also weatherproof so installing them outdoors shouldn't be an issue. I won't go into the details of the initial set up of the system, but what I will say is that it is easy to set up that even a non-tech savvy person can do it in less than 10 minutes. It's simply a matter of powering up the base station, inserting the batteries into the cameras, syncing the cameras, downloading the free Arlo app, and signing up for a free account and cloud service. The basic free service allows for the inclusion of up to 5 cameras and for a rolling 7 days of cloud recordings for up to 1GB of cloud storage. Anything more than this will require a monthly subscription service fee plan. I set the cameras to respond to motion and they have been working very well. With notification alerts set up, I am alerted whenever the camera detects motion and begins recording. Video recordings can be set up for a fixed length from 5 second to 120 second durations. As of the writing of my review, the Arlo app was also updated with the option to automatically “record until activity stops up” to a maximum recording time of 300 seconds. However, this option was not functioning, but I expect that the firmware and app will be updated in the near future to ensure that this option will be fully functioning. Setting up rules on the Arlo app and arming the system allows the cameras to record video automatically when they sense motion or sound. Motion and sound sensitivities can be adjusted to trigger the cameras when they detect more/less motion or louder/quieter sounds. When viewing a live stream of video on the Arlo app, you can also manually record the live stream video or take an instantaneous snapshot photo. The manual video recording is not limited to the120 second duration as it is for the automatically triggered recordings. I was able to manually record for 29 minutes with a video file size of 122MB until my video recording stopped. Each camera is equipped with a speaker and microphone to allow two-way communication. I could hear clearly through the speaker and it is loud enough that people several feet away from the camera can hear it well. Similarly, the microphone works very well. It picked up on very faint noises in the background with no issues. One of the features I find to be really cool is the night vision capability of the camera. When the camera detects insufficient ambient lighting, it will automatically switch on the infrared lights and you will be able to see the video recording in virtual darkness! Another useful feature is that you can set a rule to trigger the high pitched siren. The siren can be set for 1 min, 3 min, and 5 min durations and also has three different volume levels from loud, very loud, and extremely loud. At the loudest setting, it actually hurts my ears when I get close to the base station. According to the specs, the siren is rated at over 100dB. This is a great deterrent as the sound of the siren will scare away an intruder. Video quality is average to good. It is definitely not very sharp especially when zoomed in on an image. Things get blurry pretty quickly when zoomed in. Maximum digital zoom is 8x magnification. Keep in mind that the zoom is a digital and not an optical zoom. I like that the base station has two usb ports to connect external storage devices to locally store the videos. The videos will simultaneously stream to the cloud and saved onto the local usb storage such as a flash drive. However, one important thing to note is that the local storage drive must be formatted to FAT32. No other format types (e.g. NTFS) for the external storage are allowed. The batteries can be charged with the supplied usb cable and charger or via a batter charge station that can be purchase separately. Battery life according to the specs is supposed to last 4-6 months. I have been putting the cameras through their paces and testing them over the course of one week now, with constant continuous motion detection monitoring triggering several hundred 2 minute recording durations, and have managed to drain the batteries down to 50%. That's pretty impressive battery life considering the testing I put the cameras through. I have no doubt that they will last the 4-6 months especially for much less rigorous recording intervals and much less motion detect activities that will be experienced in every day real life situations. Finally, I want to point out one particular use of this system other than for the obvious security survellience benefit that it offers. I wish I had this system when my kids were babies. A wireless system such as this can be used as a baby monitor. For new parents, this is the perfect device to purchase. Why buy a dedicated baby monitor that is only useful for the short infancy period, when you can set up one of these Arlo Pro cameras as a baby monitor. You can have one camera set up as a baby monitor, and your remaining cameras serve as your home survellience. With a dedicated baby monitor, you'll probably need to get rid of it once you no longer need it, but you will find other uses for that Arlo Pro camera that you once used for a baby monitor. In summary, I think the Arlo Pros are a top contender in the home survellience market. I would recommend that anyone looking to purchase a home survellience system give the Arlo Pro serious consideration. Although it enters the market at a higher price point, it affords great value with a feature rich wireless system that can be expanded as your home monitoring needs grow. Pros -ability to view live video feed anywhere on your connected mobile device, tablet, or computer -wireless camera system can be installed anywhere inside or outside the home -rolling 7 days of free cloud recordings -no subscription fees, contracts, or monthly fees -rechargeable batteries lasts 4-6 months between charges -battery indicators to indicate remaining battery life for each camera -very loud, piercing sounding siren -excellent infrared night vision -notification alerts or e-mail alerts if motion or sound is detected -weatherproof -videos can be backed up locally to a usb connected device -excellent motion detection -two way communication via on-camera speaker and microphone -feature rich customizations Cons -approximately 3-5 second lag in the video image -no optical zoom, purely digital zoom of the image resulting in blurry to grainy zoomed video -video quality is average, not that sharp; images begin to lose detail about 10-15 feet away from the camera

Arlo require you to pay a monthly service for any significant memories. Stick to the hardwire security camera system with a 30 days memories hardrive. It will Save you tons of moneys in the longrun even if you have to hire a professional to run the wire for the hardwire camera.
