Nice system, but it has if flaws. First don't place the camera's in a high spot because the battery life is not very good. They are rechargeable but that means when they are charging no camera. PROS Completely wireless, small form factor cameras. Easy to install. Good color and night vision video quality. Free cloud storage. Weatherproof. CONS No audio recording. Lacks dynamic pan, tilt, and zoom functions. Extra fees for DVR Cloud Storage

Great hardware marred by poor software and support

I have the 4 camera system and am very impressed by the picture quality, the night vision, the ease of install and set up, the motion detection all the basics of a great system. The system is let down by some buggy software and poor support. The placement of one of my camera's puts a road in view and it detects every car going passed. The optional ARLO SMART software should allow me to tell Arlo only to alert when it see's a person which would solve my problem. Unfortunately this does not seem to work, Arlo constantly notifies me that it thinks it saw a vehicle and asks me to confirm this so that it will learn. Days of constant notifications and confirmations and this didn't get better so I looked for support. The Arlo support website is mostly users trying to help each other and didn't solve my problem. I contacted the online support and sent screen shots etc. Response times are slow, often days before I get any updates, then they ask for more screen shots and details, no help no suggestions. When I had time and could be at home with the system I called support and walked through the problem with them, they were not very helpful and told me they would escalate to level 3 technical support and have them call me. They never did. I was notified that as my case had not been updated in days that it would be closed, so I contacted them again online, but weeks of this and no closer to solving the problem. I also have problems with the base station going off line and needing a physical reset (not possible if you are travelling) and problems with the Android app reporting "Acct not found for Pub/Sub request" at each login, although this doesn't appear to cause any issues. In all the system is close to being awesome, but very poor support ruins the experience.

This system was easy to install and setup. Took me a little longer to get camera placement but that is a personal preference. Easy to use and the night vision is clear. Remote monitoring is very handy.

This is a great camera system! For your average homeowner that wants to see what’s going on while you’re not home, this kit is for you. We plan on adding more cameras in the future! The app works great for us, no issues. We can watch live, take screen shots and talk through the camera. The setup is as easy as it gets.

I am a confessed tech geek and have been for many years. I couldn't be more impressed with these cameras. The batteries last for a long time. No wires. No complicated setup. Watch on your computer or mobile device live or view your recorded videos. Did I say no wires? I think this purchased was worth every penny.

If you're having problems with cameras disappearing "disconnect and remove it with driver also". Restart your computer and Then run through the Add a device and select the Base first and just go with how you did the initial install and it should be back. Another issue with losing a camera was a battery losing its charge very quickly. I swapped out the battery from another unit and they both worked. Disconnect and reconnect is the fix for lost hardware.

I don't think I could have summarized it any better. It's good if you have a relatively secure life and just need to check in once in a while to see that the house is still standing. But if you're in a situation where you have staff, aides, helpers, contractors... a situation where there is constant activity and stuff is happening at your home or wherever then get a real wired system. The cameras kick in whenever there is motion, and if you have a lot of motion, you're changing batteries all the time. Not good if you have to have the cameras out of reach so they don't get removed. The resolution doesn't really look HD. You can do constant streaming apparently, but I imagine that sucks the batteries dry within a day or two. Finally: No time stamp. That makes things a pain if you are in a situation where you have to go to court. This is a serious oversight in a security camera. You can hear what's going on pretty well with the camera, which is nice for eavesdropping. Anyway. I have a 5 camera wired system that streams all the time from another manufacturer (Hik-Connect), and although much much harder to set up than the Arlo, once it's in you're done and you can forget it. While the Arlo is incredibly easy to set up 4 cameras in about 45 minutes, it requires constant, constant maintenance attention with battery changes. Then you have to buy accessory after accessory... like charges, extra wires, extra batteries. Having both a professionally wired system and the consumer Arlo system in the same house, I guess the most bang for my buck comes from a professionally wired system. Bigger up front cost, but less incremental cost and maintenance down the road. And definitely don't get the Arlo if you need a surveillance system for managing people. No time stamp.

Remarkable Value For What It Does and Can Do

First, only four stars since the experience is relatively short term. I will come back and adjust one way or the other as warrants. This camera system is not for everyone. If you want to sit and stare at your live action camera screens as a hobby, then no, battery operated security cameras are not for you, since constant watching will drain your batteries. This is a totally wireless system that sets up quickly and painlessly (if you follow instructions and use provided resources if you run into any issues). The cameras are wirelessly connected to the base, not the WiFi system (the base is wired to your system at an AP, usually your router, or an extender or mesh satellite, so base and camera spatial relationship is important). My installation took a very short time. The longest part was mounting the three screw exterior metal base that came with the kit to stucco. The three magnetic ball camera bases I mounted were a breeze (this left me with one extra ball base). Remember to position cameras so that they catch movement across the field of view. They work best this way as opposed to straight at the camera Though these cameras are only 720p, on a mobile screen that is fine for me. I went with the Pro rather than Pro 2 due to price for resolution that doesn't make much difference on a mobile screen and some other features on the Pro 2 I did not feel I needed to pay the differential for (and there was also a Best Buy sale on this configuration). What may be surprising is the programming flexibility. It is not intuitive at places but working with it for a while you can create modes and schedules that will work in most situations you have in mind. Different cameras doing different things and triggering other cameras with variable settings. Then, if you care, you can plug different modes into a schedule. Or, if you wish leave it simple it comes with armed, disarmed, or geo-fenced. Also the free basic version of cloud storage is great, but I also plugged in a flash drive to continue to capture camera dectections if the internet goes down, and those snips are there until I want to delete them (rather than pay for upgraded cloud programs). After extensive testing, I conclude this product and model exactly suit my need, and so far I am very pleased with the simplicity, the performance, and the flexibility of programming,as well as camera vision and audio sensitivity, and response.

These are great. I got them on sale with free shipping! I love the easy set up. I can't wait to set them up with Alexa Echo Dot. Very easy to charge in place with the rechargeable batteries. I didn't care for the mounts, so I bought some better ones on Amazon. Best cameras on the market for a decent price!

Works great, if set up properly

First off, I bought this and returned the same day because the cameras were acting very glitchy and it was hard to watch live or for them to record without constantly loading and skipping frames or freezing. I was so frustrated with the lack of reliability I returned the system. While researching an alternative wireless system, everything came back to the arlo pro. So I asked myself what was I missing? The next day I returned to Best Buy and purchased the system again and started having the same issues. This time I went on to netgear's website and pulled up the 70 page user manual that is not included in the package (only the QuickStart guide is included). In the trouble shooting section and the lengthy directions it explains that you will experience the problems I was having if your base station is too close to other wifi signals. Well since the base station must be plugged into your modem/router it was right next to mine, as well as a smart tv, smart bluray, and Xbox one. As soon as I moved the base station to the other end of the entertainment center (away from the router and a non-wifi interfering line of sight to the cameras) the whole system worked flawlessly. Netgear should include the long version of the instructions/manual in the box because there are several simple placement and setting instructions for the cameras and base station that make the system work perfectly and none of them are in the quick setup guide included in the packaging.

I bought this system today and I can't say enough about it! I don't usually write reviews so that should serve as good indication as to how great this product worked for me. It literally took me 15 min to set up. Everything worked right away and the picture and sound quality are STELLAR! Very Happy with this system!

    Not great for outdoor

Had some issues with connection at first but after a while the issues ended. in the summer it's fine with the exception of false alarms and recordings of nothing. I tried to adjust the motion sensor setting but didn't help. Because of all of these false motion alerts, the battery lasts about 2 weeks the most. I purchased the silicone covers for them but that attracts spider webs witch glow at night from the infrared and triggers the motion sensor again. Since it cooled off outside, every night the lenses get covered with condensation and you can't see anything on the video and the motion sensors do not function. Every night I have to wipe off the face of the camera witch is a pain in the back. With the indoor cameras I have no problems, they work flawlessly.

I love this it was easy to set up and easy to watch and use. The only thing is why sell an outdoor camera in minnesota or the north in general if it doesn't work in temps lower than 4 degrees. I mean you do get a warning and I knew that it said that so I still like the purchase. It will just say when logging into the camera that "it needs to warm up" So the latest -20 degree cold snap allowed me to test it. Find it a little odd though it's marketed as the best outdoor wireless camera and sold in states where Temps get extremely cold.

My husband and I decided to upgrade our wired security cameras to wireless and went with the Arlo Pro. The quality of video is pretty great (although we were misled by the sales person saying they was 1080p when really they are 720p). Over all great cameras...only complaint at this point is the Battery life. We installed these 6 days ago, and the batteries have died ALREADY! Suppose to last for a few months at a time. Granted we do have them in high traffic areas of our home, but still. I ended up having to turn the sensitivity all the way up because they wouldn't pick up sometimes, and sometimes they would. Since turning it up they seem to catch EVERYTHING.

This is a great system. The installation process is easy and the overall value is just like it's described. I'd highly recommend it. I just installed this system today and the process was fairly easy. The only issues I ran into had to do with a lack of some basic instructions that would have been helpful. Don't get me wrong--buy this product! But these things would have made me feel better about the purchase. 1) This product does NOT integrate with the Wink Hub. Despite what Wink and Netgear advertise, you'll be sure to miss the fine print--these 2 products do not work together. They may work together someday but it certainly isn't now. That means you'll use a separate app for Arlo. Wink only works with some of Arlo products, not this one. 2) There are no instructions about installing the mounts. While very basic, one thing is not immediately clear (as I've found on blog posts). When installing the camera mounts, be sure to insert the screw as snug to the wall as possible before hanging the mount. If necessary you might want to have some double-sided tape to keep the mount from sliding around. This is addressed on various blogs but nowhere in the Arlo installation paperwork. If you just install the screw, hang the magnetic holder, the weight of the camera when connected to the magnetic holder will cause it to drop. To solve this problem, just insert the screw so that there will be a snug fit with the magnetic holder. 3) Beware of where you place the Arlo hub. Some of the placements for my cameras around my home simply cannot work and it has to do with where my Arlo hub is located. I've got 2 of my 3 cameras working but one of them cannot connect because of the distance it is from the hub. In today's world of "Quick Start" instructions, you have to research all of this kind of basic stuff online. Gone are the days of effective instruction manuals! I would have given this a 5-star rating had some of it been addressed within the package saving me time during installation. Either way, however, I love the product. The two cameras that work, do so exactly as promised. I get a 10-second video of any time motion is activated. The sensors seem to click on almost immediately upon noticing movement. The videos with sound are very clear and sharp. The 10-second videos are stored in a cloud for 7 days--for free. This is just what I was looking for.

Good product! Even better when it's on sale! I purchased these cameras in 10/2017 after a brick was thrown through my window at 3:30am. Easy to set up and monitor - wish certain things could be better, a constant recording optioin instead of JUST motion triggered. I suggest purchasing additional batteries and the stationary mounts. When it gets really cold, it appears that the batteries last about 1/2 - 3/4 as long as they should. I also suggest an external hard drive to plug in to the base system. If you get this for a good price, GET IT! Overall, I'm very happy with the product - just wish they had a few extra features!

I received this last week and have had about 6 days to use it. The system arrived well packaged and easy to get out and set up. Set up took just a few minutes, batteries came fully charged from factory, nice. Package consisted of 2 cameras, 2 batteries, 2 domed mounts, charging cable, charger, base station and quick start instructions. Pairing the cameras with base station was quick and no issues. I mounted the cameras, downloaded the required app, and was up and running. Then the problems started, one camera continually disconnected from base station. This required climbing up to where it was mounted and take it down and re-pair it with base station. After the 3rd time I connected NetGear customer service. They emailed me with possible solutions which I tried but did not work. Within 5 minutes the camera had lost connection again. This camera was located about 25 ft from base station, so I ended up moving it closer to base station where it has stayed connected. This is not a good solution because the cameras are now too close together and cannot provide coverage to my entire front of house. I found these cameras lose connection if they are further than 15 feet from base station. This is impractical if you are looking for good coverage of an average house. The other issue is battery life, I'm only getting about 3-4 days of use before a recharge is needed. Now cameras are mounted near roof which requires me to have to climb to the roof every 3-4 days to recharge. In conclusion, the system is not reliable enough, will not provide adequate coverage, and battery life is not good enough to be a viable home security camera system. When the system is working it does what it is designed to do. It just is not reliable enough for me to recommend. Customer service is also a bit slow, and combined with the poor camera system this is not recommended.

Received the security camera system. Read the instructions and installed the system with relative ease. Tested the cameras inside and outside. I was impressed with 130 degree camera angle and the great sound pickup from cameras so small. Installed the programs on both my smartphone and laptop. No issues. This is a great system and I plan to add more cameras at some point in the future.

I couldn't be happier with this product. I have installed my Arlo pro camera approx. 1 month ago, battery life is still 100 percent, day time and night vision is excellent. If I could suggest 1 improvement it would be to make the speaker volume louder for the talk back feature, the recording volume is perfectly fine. Overall this is a great product, and I recommend it. I can't wait to add more camera's.
