Needs Improvements
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this system (4 cameras) for a while now. I have to say I was skeptical of the performance of the batteries but this generation is fantastic. On battery management mode (not best video quality) I get roughly three months out of a battery. Pros: Easy to Setup, App is User Friendly Cons: App is SLOW SLOW SLOW, DEFINITELY DON'T COUNT ON GEO-FENCING NEEDS WORK If the app is updated for speed and geo-fencing capabilities that actually work it would be a great system.

Good system For Small Home
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like this system a lot. I have a small townhouse and this covers my front and back doors. The setup was a piece of cake. I will be moving to a bigger house in a year or two and I think I will be able to keep this system and just add a couple more cameras. I must say I love the app for this. No complaints about the battery life.

This is my first security camera system
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have never had a camera system before, so my review may show that. Out of the box this looked nice. I love it has rechargeable batteries and no wires. The setup for me was difficult. The cords go on the back and face up, but the indicator lights are all on the bottom. When I tried to sync the base station, it kept going off line. Same with the firmware update, offline. The app is not very intuitive, you need to press the mic button to talk. But I do love the pop up notification when the unit detects movement. The mic on the outside unit it very very good. Overall, I think this is a decent system. It is NOT cheap and additional cameras are very expensive. But it works decently well.

Good hardware, TERRIBLE software
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The hardware for the arlo pro is excellent. Easy to install, good battery life, clear picture and sound. However, the app is terrible. Geofencing doesn't work. Log in is difficult. Trying to share with multiple users is difficult. Custom scheduling is unintuitive. Adding new devices is a toil. For the price, borderline about buying again.

Not Ready yet, I wish they where.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I hadn't been more excited about purchasing an HA product since I purchased my Wink Hub 2 years ago. Since the Arlo Pro was announced I knew I would make it part of my HA family I was just waiting for the first sale. Come in the end of Dec and voila, Best Buy has them $50 off. This is the start of a terrible relationship. The cameras as announced are super easy to setup, the android app is super intuitive and the web based UI is a mirror of the app, Kudos Arlo team user interaction is homogeneous and simple. It took me around 10 mins to set up my 4 cameras on my bundle. I knew I was going to love the system so much that the drill came afterwards and everything was perfectly placed. When setting up my modes I adjusted sensitivity for all cameras, I don't know about the Arlo 1 but the results on the pro are still quirky a movement that triggered the PIR might not trigger it repeatedly, I can live with that was my thought at that time. Issue #1 In come the false alarms, one of my cameras faces the street (surprise a lot of us want to see our driveway with outdoor cameras). Day 1 of arming my system I received a whooping 100+ False alarm clips from the 1 camera facing the street, I finally get not false alarms with sensitive set to 25% but I don't get real alarms either so I just managed nothing. After extensive searching it looks like netgear is aware of the users wanting zone exclusion for wireless cameras and plans to add it NEVER, yes I said never, as many users have posted this would be super easy on a cloud based server (I can live with the data being uploaded but false alarms make a security system unsecure) just do a quick compare and discard what the camera is sending if it does not match the user critera. After reading forums and what other users where doing I managed to convince myself that when I get back home I can adjust the camera to a totally useless angle (sort of birds eye) so the PIR is only triggered by movement in the driveway. Issue #2 My wife approval letter for arlo came of the promiss we could do 2 real important things with it, number one would be sort of emulating a ring with the Arlos, and number two and top priority on the list, use it as a baby monitor. Let me say this, Delay and image quality are perfect for both uses, even the PIR can work with a ceiling mounted front door cam, so life was good, or sort of. As with everything in this story there was a sour side, the volume on the speaker is close to useless, the baby monitor on a quiet room, maybe, the doorbell use I tried to fool myself into thinking it would work but the reality is it won't Issue #3 (The Deal Breaker) Remember on issue 2 where I said I wanted a baby monitor, while sleeping last night, the time it takes to engage live view while in my network got me started thinking, It's almost like my wicked fast metered Internet connection is uploading the stream and them I'm downloading it, then I was sure someone thought of this and thought it's 2016 we'll give users local control, well the answer is no, as you can see on the screenshot below when I open live view the stream is going both ways, so leaving a tablet rolling all night as I had planned will get me in real trouble with comcasts new download cap. So for me it looks like the cameras are going back to best buy.

Hit and Miss
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After extensive research for an outdoor wireless security camera, I arrived to the Arlo Pro. Purchased one camera and base station to start and soon after an add-on camera. The first I placed on the front of the house and it worked flawlessly for several months. The second add-on camera went to the backyard and once installed began it's problems. Constantly went offline and frequently showed a 0% battery when it wasn't dead. I navigated through the deficiencies until bot cameras went to 0% battery and needed to be charged. The front house camera charged, but within one week showed 47% battery. Not sure why? The rear yard camera...won't charge. Called support and troubleshooted it for over 90 min. Camera and battery were determined to be deficient. Their resolution....bring it back to BB. Unfortunately, I did not buy the extended coverage and this was 60 days after the purchase. So a call back and they said they would send me another camera and battery. Today...I received the new camera, but no battery!! The cameras work well....when they work. Like the cliche says...I don't write reviews, but...know that you may purchase a perfectly good camera that provides you with everything you need. Or, you may buy the one that was pieced together by the guy daydreaming and you end up spending a good portion of your time listening to elevator music and a constant update on your number in the que.

Worth every penny!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an amazing system. We have had some petty junk mischief go on around our neighborhood recently. We didn't want to pay a monthly monitoring fee. We are retired and travel often. We got the 4 camera system, super easy to install and set-up. I downloaded the app on my phone and now I have piece of mind. I can see and hear everything around my property, keep and download recordings if I need to, and even share the surveillance with my daughter-in-law so she can keep watch while we are out of the country. I highly recommend this system, it is worth every single penny!

Good product, but...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased an Arlo Pro system with 4 cameras a few days ago, but unfortunately I had to return it. Overall, it is a nice system and many people would be okay with is functionality, but there were a few issues that I found to be unacceptable. First, was the firmware update that never seemed to successfully install, where it appeared to download and reboot the base station and push out to the cameras, but the same update would reappear as being available (so the base station never seemed to properly update). This caused the "live view" to be unavailable, although video and audio recording in the armed mode continued to work. A review of the community site showed that others had the same problem, and the only solution provided was a top-end high speed Internet connection. I had high speed DSL which should have been more than sufficient for a firmware upgrade, and expecting people to use fiber or cable services for firmware upgrades is unreasonable. This brings me to my second point. If something happens to your Internet connection you are dead in the water. You are required to log in via the Internet to configure, arm and view your system, and all video is required to be stored in the Arlo cloud (wherever that is) even with a drive attached through the USB port. There is no ability to access your base station locally if the Internet is down. Lastly, be aware that your base station advertises itself as "NTGR_VBS_(alphanumericl#)" on Wi-Fi and there is no way to turn this off. This means that your neighborhood knows that there is a video security system in the area thus inviting potential hackers, and also allows them to know when the system is turned off thus inviting thieves.

Decent product, has problems, no support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The good: Nice video quality on cameras within acceptable range Easy to configure and use The bad: Limited range: One camera about 50' away laterally and up one floor from the base station apparently had a marginal signal and the video would pixelate and drop out for portions of almost every recording. Moved the camera closer to the base station (as a test) and the recorded video is of much better and consistent quality. Inflexible and impractical recording: You set the time for the recording on motion detection from 30-120 seconds, and that it all the camera will record. if something takes longer to occur than that time period, you will lose some or all of the rest of the activity. Most systems will record as long as there is activity, not this one. Worse, even after the recording ends, there's no guarantee that it will pick up and record again despite continuous motion in the camera's view. The ugly: I emailed [email protected] with some of my concerns and after several days had no response whatsoever. It's being returned.

Absolutely wonderful!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These cameras are a lifesaver - a BIG security bonus for our home. We can see whenever anyone gets close and starts walking up to our front, or back doors - we get an alert on our phone. I highly recommend these cameras, a great price to pay for added security.

above 10 F okay. Can't take the cold
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. They work great above 10 degrees - once the temps dip and hit colder than that - forget about it. COLD error, low battery even when plugged in. IF you live anywhere where it dips below zero, look elsewhere. Now there are higher resolution wireless cameras without the needed Base station for a lot less money. 7 Day rolling cloud storage was nice feature for this older system.

Great product, Easy install
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Installing these cameras was incredibly easy, had no issues during setup and they all operate as they should, the range is very good, all 4 cameras are located outside and give a full strength signal to the base station. I have one camera about 150 feet from the station still giving three bars, batteries come charged and the app is fluid and easy

Arlo Pro2 Cameras
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have had these Arlo Pro2 cameras for a few years now. Have been very good. Very responsive and record clear video. The response also depends on your internet. I have speeds of 600 megs and above. Reason is I have quite a few electronics on wifi (30+ items) and over 15 wired items and boys that game. I have 10 cameras with 2 bases.

Just what we needed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our basic requirements were: 1) A camera to monitor our dogs during the day; 2) Monitor our front door for solicitors, deliveries, and whatever else comes to the door; and 3) Simple installation. The Arlo met all 3. The camera isn't as clear as I thought a HD camera would be, but for our purpose, this works great. My biggest gripe, if I had to pick one, is that I want the "Modes" to be a bit more granular. Example: I want a separate mode for my downstairs camera than my front door camera has.

System is NOT reliable for remote monitoring
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.System cannot be fully trusted for remote monitoring. I've been through one Arlo and upgraded to two Arlo Pro base stations, this for a system monitoring a second home that I rarely visit. The Arlo systems Base Station has a nasty habit of being so stupid in it's firmware that if/when it goes off line then it is not 'smart' enough to get itself back on line without someone being there to physically pull the plug and reset the Base Station. After the second time this went down I decided to install a remote control iDevices wall plug/switch, but even this wen off line once and neither would not come back up. Incidentally, when the Base Station goes off line, another Arlo Q camera that bypasses the Arlo Pro Base station to connect through the wi-fi router stays on - so I can tell there is power to the wifi router even while the Arlo Pro Base station remains off line. Another complaint, it is hard to keep cameras monitoring the outside from alarming as motion of branches/their shadows can set off the alarms. The Arlo and Arlo Pro cameras allow no means to set just a small detection zone (a doorway, or path) in the field of view. The Arlo and Arlo Pro are quick and easy to deploy, but "Amateur Hour" gear otherwise. BTW, the Arlo Q are better but rely on AC and are not for outdoors.

Great camera
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to setup. cameras mounted for the front and back door. The key is to be sure your home internet signal is strong. Made sure I purchased a home wireless booster to extend the wireless connection for the cameras. Maybe a 1 second delay after sensing motion and receiving a text msg. Picture quality is good. Just added sense of security for the home when ur home and away.
