Website/Phone Apps/Cust Service are Terrible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this system from Best Buy approximately 3 months ago. It was very easy to install and the video quality is good, very clear. The system was exactly what we wanted. However, after using the system for about a month, my husband experienced issues with the phone app crashing. We were never able to successfully reach anyone at Arlo Netgear to help us resolve the issue. Now I'm having the same problem and their website won't let me reset my password. No customer service, the phone number is always busy and no response to emails. Very disappointed that we bought this system. The cameras work great, but we can no longer view any video so it's useless.

Needs Changes to Improve
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The wireless flexibility is great but it fails in other areas. The requirement to have the base station attached directly to the modem limits the wireless transmission between the camera and base station, especially if your modem is located at one end of the house and your cameras at the other. Even though the default setting on each camera is to only record for 6 seconds each camera can be adjusted to record up to 300 seconds (5 min). The problem is that the camera fails to identify that the motion continues so someone can be right in front of the camera moving around and it will just stop recording (this has happened with all four of my cameras). It won't even start another pass at recording within 30 seconds. The exterior mounts are also very pricey and should be about another inch longer for better mounting under eaves.

Premium price point, average quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Exceptional camera during the day in terms of image quality. At night you basically have to have a flood light on whatever you're monitoring for it to capture anything. Very crummy "night vision" mode. Also when I got the cameras one had a weird pinkish tint to the image. Finally don't expect to have an easy time with tech support. Like so many other companies looking to save some money (Best Buy included) they've outsourced some - if not all - of their calls overseas. Once they get talking somewhat quickly, as most of them do, it's virtually impossible to understand the majority of what they're saying. I find myself more often than not saying "I'm sorry, I didn't catch that." With the Ring Doorbell Pro and the much easier time with tech support I should have learned my lesson and went with their Stick Up cams.

completely unpredictable/erratic motion sensing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Completely erratic and unpredictable motion sensing and recording makes these cameras useless as security cameras. I had my lawn mowing guys mow my lawn for 15 minutes and it did not record it for even 1 second.

Don't buy, Not worth it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I paid about $700.00 dollars for these four cameras. Downloaded the app. They worked for about 3 months then I had to change the batteries. It cost a $120.00 every 3 months or $500.00 a year. I spent so far $700 for the cameras $1,000.00 or more on batteries. That's $1700.00 so far and its not worth it. They work on a delay system so you only see the back side of a person walking away from them. It doesn't film motion approaching them. Totally useless . Every time I change the batteries, I have to climb up on an extention ladder 15 feet high, take the camera off the stand and use a screwdriver to pry open the cover to get to the batteries. Reload it with 30 dollars worth of batteries and fix and angle it to the fixture. Adjust it with your phone in one hand and the camera in the other hand up in the air. A real pain in the neck on an extention ladder. The thing keeps saying my camera is not updated. You play with the app in your phone to get it to work and it doesn't. I download an update and it still doesn't work. You call that phone number on their website and nobody answers. Poor customer service. The amount of money and time playing with this to get it to work. I can't believe this is four stars. Not worth it.

Battery won't last

Recorded Videos
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I heard such great things about this system. I liked it because it was wireless and it needed to be placed outside in several areas. It has a great picture but motion detection only works 15-20 feet away while their indoor model will work up to 50 ft. It doesn't record 24/7 but has the ability to manually record videos. However, these manual recordings do NOT save to a local USB drive like the motion detection videos do. I wouldn't advise these cameras in a domestic or legal battle. However, if you like watching critters walk across the grounds it may be camera for you.

Goes Offline When You Need Them Most!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an absolute joke of a security system. Do not buy if you actually want to have cameras that function. I have tolerated this unreliable system for at least two years. Mainly because I have already invested so much into it, and I have yet to find another system that I feel would be more reliable. My first upset was when one of the cameras failed shortly after the warranty expired. The camera would power on, but it would not connect, or show any video. A chat with customer service was equally frustrating. They basically said sorry, the camera is not under warranty, so have a nice day. A security camera should not fail within a year. Second, the cameras routinely go offline. Of course, there is no notification that your cameras are not working, they just stop recording, until they magically reset themselves, or you manually power them down, and restart. This is not an easy task since these cameras are designed to be mounted where they get the best video, and not where they are easy to access. Now, the real kick in the teeth was when I recently when on vacation for a week. I made sure to install fresh batteries before I left. I verified that all the cameras were working, and I left my house. About 6 hours later I decided to check the cameras. To my utter disbelief the entire system was offline. That means no cameras are recording anything. Since I was so far away, I could not go back and reset the base station. There is no way that I can find to remotely force a restart. So my fancy Arlo cameras were nothing more than an expensive decoration for an entire week. I have tried nearly everything to improve the reliability of this garbage, and nothing seems to work. The base station is about 5 feet from one camera, and yet, that camera still shuts down at random times. There is no reason to buy anything from Arlo. The reliability is just not there. Considering this is a security camera system, it is absolutely unacceptable that these cameras are so unreliable. They should rename this system to Murphy's Law Cameras. Anytime you need these cameras to work, is the exact time them choose to shut down.

Terrible camera
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera has a good picture quality but it does not last. Warning that there is only a 6month warrenty from Netgear. At first the camera worked great and recorded everything. Now it records maybe one to two things per day, and it doesn't catch anything in the distance now. You have to be moving right up close to the camera to catch anything. I will not recommend this item to anyone and wish I would have gone with a different type of home security camera.

Don’t Buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My husband & I purchased the Arlo System about a month ago. The battery will not stay charged. It’s too late to take back to Best Buy because it’s been more than 15 days. My husband called Arlo customer service and they told us we need to pay them $100.00 a year for software updates and services. The man couldn’t speak English and told us they would send us a new battery only if we upgraded to a premier package. We spent a lot of money for this particular wireless system and were under the impression the updates are automatically downloaded when we charge the batteries. We asked the representative “why does one camera work, and the other continues to die” ? We feel if it’s a firmware update, this should happen automatically when we bring the carmeras in for charge. The other camera has never been re charged since we purchased it a month ago. If I had to do it all over again, I’d NOT purchase this system. We are now stuck with it because we’ve drilled holes into our siding for the mounts and we don’t want to add to the headache.

Breaks easy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My Issues: 1. I cannot see the recorded videos on application. Talked to a customer support, and was told that they are aware and fixing on it. Haven't been fixed for the past month. 2. Bad RMA support. One of my cameras stopped charging. I had to talk to their technical support couple of times, and they finally decided to do an exchange. I shipped the defective product myself, which cost me about $10 for shipping. I got a dirty, charging port cover broken, but functioning device back. With these experience I won't be buying Arlo products anymore.

App is bugged
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After about 30 hours of escalating calls and trying to duplicate the problems I gave up on the product and returned it. Here are the problems I encountered: 1. The camera would randomly stop detecting motion. 2. The recording length slider would magically default back to 10 seconds from a 2 min record length. 3. The slider in number 2 would not appear in the app. 4. Customer service is outsourced which makes communicating difficult. 5. Battery life is short, 1-2 weeks. This product looks sleek and could compete against other products. However, more testing needs to be done before it is released to the public.

Like Arlo Pro/dislike Netgear customer care
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With improved Netgear customer care, I would upgrade the review to 4 stars. I like the product even though I got one defective camera. Netgear does need to improve their customer support and appreciation. At the time of this review, Netgear will charge you an estimated $29 for shipping to replace a defective Arlo camera next day. If you want a replacement without paying shipping, you will have to pay to ship your camera back and they won't send a replacement until they receive it. You will then have to wait for a replacement camera to be shipped by ground. So you will be without the camera that you already paid for up to approximately two weeks and have to pay to ship your defective camera to them. I hope Netgear changes this policy and takes better care of their customers. Customers should not have to pay anything to replace a defective device with next day delivery of the replacement as it's Netgear's fault that their device is defective. In addition, Netgear should offer an additional gift for the aggravation, time waste, and time lapse unable to use product. I can't recommend this product until this policy is changed.

Taking it back
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this 2 camera package yesterday, tried to set it up, but firmware won't update. I called customer support, and still can't get an update on firmware. Sort of like buying a new car from the car dealer and it won't start. I can't really give anymore of my opinion on it, because I never got to use it. I think I will just have a wired system installed to avoid any more headaches. I have it two stars because it looked good in the store and the sales consultant was very polite and seemed knowledgeable on it.

Base Station has no range!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This system is junk. I'm on my way to return tomorrow. First off, why must you use a base station? Using a base station means your system is limited to the range of the base station, NOT your WiFi - supposedly 300'. Well that 300' is line of sight only on flat land in the middle of nowhere. So at least make your base station powerful. My WiFi is meshed using Google Wifi (which is awesome btw), I have strong WiFi in every inch on my house and far out into my front and back yard - but this is useless because the Arlo can only recognize it's own WiFi from the base station - stupid. I have an older brick home split level 3000 sq ft with concrete slabs. No Arlo camera would stay online more that 25' away from the base. Once I was on the other side of 1 wall, the signal was gone. I even moved the base station to the middle of my house and connected it to a Google puck directly. The minute I went outside - 20-25'? maybe, the signal was gone. This is the most flawed idea ever - anchor your signal to a small, totally under-powered box of junk, that must be connected via Ethernet to your Router. Most Routers are in a basement, office or hidden somewhere - totally inconvenient. Canary makes WiFi cameras that are supposedly not as good, but they are WiFi based so anything must be better than this garbage by Netgear - that should of been my first red flag, it's a Netgear product. Look elsewhere.

Worst product I have ever bought...ever
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of the package one camera was missing a magnet inside the camera so I couldn't mount it. Calling customer support they sent me a box full of mounts rather than the magnet I needed, so I still can't mount one of the two cameras. I'm still battling with Arlo customer service with this and I've had the cameras for a month now. The best buy employee told me the battery would last anywhere from 4-6 months. I was surprised. Turns out what the employee said wasn't true at all as I have to charge the camera every 2 weeks before the battery died. Very disappointed with the service from the Best Buy employee. The camera system is a bit buggy with the both the app and the website. Much more refinement is needed with this product as a whole. Setting up the camera sometimes it records every motion while other times I can do jumping jacks in front of the camera and the motion detector still won't be triggered. The layout of the app is pretty good as it's easy to navigate and select the features you need to. Problem is the camera doesn't always pick up on your changes. Overall there's potential, but this product needs a lot of work. I will avoid everything Arlo branded from now on and I will do my own research rather than asking Best Buy employees for assistance and suggestions.

Excellent video but bad software and service.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These have great video quality and would be the best out there. The software is horrible and dont get good updates. Customer care are rude or never respond to you. I had 3 min delays in live view and have good internet. My Ring camera does not do this my videos are spot on time wise. I do not recommend them unless they manage to fix lag time and sound quality.

Camera battery life
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the camera you want , if you want to keep charging the batteries. Batteries life don't last as long as arlo claims. I have to get a ladder and charge these at least once every 7 days. Also the recording reaction is really bad. If you want to see anyone approaching your home , good luck. I had a package delivered by UPS and the camera didn't turn on Until he has already entered my patio area. Reaction recording time, battery life is bad. I do not recommend buying
