    Not Recomended

Setup was simple enough. video quality is descant but if you are using it to get a good picture to take to the police for them to find someone its not going to be good enough to get solid image quality. first of it has usb charger but not listed as proprietary. so that means you can only use there usb for charging. it tends to go off constantly because a speck of dust flew buy the camera i mean a supper tiny speck floating past the lends if you turn down the sensitive it wont turn on. the gps is nice to have but it works 80% of the time i will get home and the alarm will go off because it doesn't think im home when the phone is right in the house. im not to sure if this is a good or bad thing because it increases battery life but can be a problem since its not all ways recording when the sensor detects something it will take about 5 seconds to start recording so it could miss something important but the battery can last abut 3-6 months depending on how often it goes off one of the rooms is totally blacked out so the camera never goes off iv only had to charge it once the whole yr but the one the bedroom facing a wall the sun will hit lint and goes off 24-7 you turn down the settings and it wont go off when i go right in front of it waving about.

Bought theses cameras in December, 2019. Very disappointed to find out you can't use the activity zone unless they are hardwired. Also, I have night vision set......during the dy I will get many hits with cars going by, after dark very few. Really disappointed! I would not recommend these to anyone!

all the negative reviews are correct. you can't customize the notification tone on your phone so when an alert comes, it sounds like any other alert. not good if you want to know that someone is at your front door or in your yard in the middle of the night. I've been on the Arlo website and user forums and this has apparently been an issue with users for years - and never addressed by Arlo. other issues - regardless of how you change your settings, when the camera picks up motion is entirely random. my front porch camera picks up my neighbor mowing his lawn one minute then does not get the guy who just walked up to my front door. wind sets it off constantly. as does some other phantom reasons that I can't figure out. the doorbell microphone is a complete joke. you can't hear the person at the door and they can't hear you. and setting up the doorbell was incredibly painful. not looking forward to researching another system. it should be so much easier than Arlo makes it. and on top of all this, Best Buy's return policies have left me with no option. I won't be buying whatever replacement system from Best Buy.

Avoid at all cost!! 2 weeks passed with no remedy

I purchased the pro on Dec 2018. (Sept 2019) 2 weeks and still no remedy. On Aug 2019 the Hub went haywire causing few cameras to go offline. Eventually, the Hub is no longer useable and all cameras are offline end of Aug. I called the support line and tech support told me someone will contact me and confirmed a new Hub is required. No contacted me for a few days. I called again and they created a case number expecting a new Hub. No contact was done so I initiated a call again as well reaching them by there case update link on status. I was told they were on backorder. But, they would not tell me an estimated time and why. Again, no status from them after that contact. I called again the lady then tells me they are available and did not know what a back order was. She then tells me I need to initiate an RMA. I filled out the form but received no confirmation. I called again, they didn’t receive anything from me. We proceeded with the form again and you are given 3 options and required a CC. I then see I was charged shipping 2x and I had to call again to straighten that out.

This is the second ARLO system we have owned. The first system worked well but did not have reachable batteries and we sold the house and left the system as part of the deal. Since we were satisfied with the first product we chose to use ARLO again and purchased an ARLO 2 system an extra camera and added ARLO spot lights. What a mistake buying the ARLO 2 cameras. The base station has gone off line three times in the last year and when this happens the only way to get it to operate again is to do a total reset and re-install the complete system. At 68 y/o I am not happy that I have to go up ladders more time to reset the system than I have to do to recharge the batteries . This system is not dependable and their after sales service has bee terrible and extremely slow to respond if they even do. For these reasons I can not recommended ARLPRO 2 cameras. We will replace them with another product ASAP.

Returned and bougth Nest Outdoor Cam

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

After months of research, I finally decided to deviate from Nest and go with Arlo pro 2 for my outdoor camera needs. Boy, did I make a mistake. First, this system requires that the hub be plugged into your router. Second, the batteries for these cameras are not standard batteries, they are unique and proprietary to Arlo. Third, if you use the battery option instead of plugging in there is a long delay before you get live footage. After learning about the batteries and delay, I figured I would just purchase the outdoor power adapter which would solve both problems. Well, you can't find them. Apparently there was a recall and users of aftermarket cords have reported cameras overheating and potential for fire. Frustrated and disappointed, I ended up returning the 2 camera kit and getting the Nest Outdoor Cam. I am so happy with my purchase. Not only do I not have to plug anything into my router, but everything runs off of the Nest app where I already have all of my other Nest products. The camera is beautiful, easy to set up and costs over $100 less for the two camera kit than the Arlo Pro 2.

So Arlo marked themselves as a security system and with the awesome feature of being able to see if something happens around your house or even inside your house. For example, they show you videos of a porch where a guy is about to steal your amazon packages, but then the over gets a notification and yells at the guy, who then runs away ... Reality is NOT like that - In reality, the cloud and APP for ARLO is way to slow for you to be able to do anything. Sometimes (When worst) you are waiting minutes for the recording to pop-up in the APP. You could just go directly to the preview and try to watch the guy stealing your stuff but connecting can also take 20-60 seconds and with the huge delay you will NOT be able to scare anyone off - simply already too late to do so. And if you thing Arlo support is gonna help you ... naaa, "Bring it back to Bestbuy" - Response time from Arlo support is 2-3 days and using the Live Chat will set you back min. +20 min. before even getting through to them.

Defective Hardware and company will not fix

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased the Arlo Pro camera 2 months ago and it has never worked. The company sent me a replacement battery, because it would not hold a charge more than 1 hour at a time. Now, the battery will hold a charge, but the camera goes offline after 30 minutes, then continually tries to reconnect until it runs the battery down. I have contacted the company 18 times in 2 months, today I had to scream and yell and threaten to sue them to get them to agree to send a new camera out, but they gave me the caveat that if the new camera has the same issue then it is likely due to the camera placement. Apparently, if the camera isnt plugged in and sitting right next to the base station, then they wont warranty it at all. Best Buy has refused to help with this problem either. So, if you want a security camera, I suggest you go to a different retailer first, and then stay as far away from Arlo as you possibly can!!!!!

    Not good

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

When I first got this system I would have gave it a good review. My system is 5 months old and one of the cameras kept going offline. Had to charge the camera then it would work again. Then it would only work for two days and offline it went again. During this one of the other cameras would only pick up my kids maybe 50% of the time when they would leave or come home. With this system only being 5 months old I brought it back and exchanged it for a new one. Brought the new one home and had to set it up again. Two of the cameras were not charged out of the box. So I had to charge the cameras. As soon as I would unplug the cameras even after charging for 12 hours the cameras would go offline again. Really? Then new one right out of the box has more problems then the one I had to return. I am done with this system. I would never recommend this to anyone.

    Arlo has poor customer service

Cameras are 4 months old and one of them quit working. The customer service told us they would mail us a new battery to fix the problem and that we would receive it within 5 days. 4 1/2 weeks no battery and the customer service can't tell me when I will receive it. The batteries do not stay charged long at all. I would not recommend these cameras.

Nightmare product. Couldn’t connect system one day . Called support. Was greeted by hello your are number 50 in que. Tried to troubleshoot as I waited. Did a factory reset BIG MISTAKE. Later learned that removes base and cameras from account. So tomorrow I have to get a ladder remove 5 cameras and reconnect base and create new account. Finally I get a lady who can barely understand English. I had to repeat my email 6 times! Turns out their servers were down. If there was a message at beginning of phone call stating that it would save me hours of pulling down cameras and re syncing 5 cameras and a base. So frustrating to have someone on the end of support that can’t understand me nor can I them. No expert support either. Person was reading of her computer to find answers . Avoid!

I hade high hopes even though the Arlo support forums were quite negative. I set everything up and one camera synchronized with the base but the other would not. I followed support recommendations and nothing would work so it is going back.

    Poor Motion & Battery Use

The motion sensor is slow to respond when motion is detected. it starts recording just as object leaves the view of camera. The battery usage eats up 123 lithium batteries really fast and not good due to the cost of the these 123 are $10.00 each locally. I would not recommend this camera to any one that has daily motion. I wasted $250.00. anyone need a used security camera?

I thought we are in 2018. I am on vacation and cannot use a web browser to view the camera live view as it requires flash. Even the cheap hotel we are at will not allow flash on their computers to look at live view from the Arlo website. Thought it was just because I use a macbook but no luck on windows either. What the heck is so difficult about using HTML5.

I have no trust in their customer support

Spent over $600 for a 4 camera Arlo Pro system. In just over a week of receiving it, 1 of the 4 cameras was acting up regardless of where it was placed - the other cameras are fine. After many battery switches and trouble shooting steps with Netgear, they still want more troubleshooting and it feels like they are going through hoops rather than admitting to a problem. Netgear mentioned I will be responsible for paying shipping costs for any RMA's (camera or battery) on this BRAND new system. It's cheaper for me to return the product to where I purchased it than deal with this. My experience with Netgear support is that they don't stand behind their product or have a good support system. I'm very technical and have been very patient. I REALLY wish I could recommend this product but can not.

Cool system at first BUT then the gimmicks set in

    Posted .

You can store reviewable recorded video for like the first 30 -90 days?? But then Arlo security services nudges you to purchase a monthly plan to be able to continue storing your video footage. (That’s one major thing that sucks).. Then the other is, if you decide to connect your own hard drive to the Arlo base to store your own video footage? You can’t just go into the Arlo app as you did previously to view the recorded video footage... You will need to disconnect the hard drive and reconnect it to your computer to view the footage ( Another thing that sucks...) I paid over $700 for my (6) camera system and now I am seriously considering going back to Costco and getting one of the package deals that have a hard drives included with “ NO” hidden gimmicks.... very disappointing!!!

    NOT A RELIABLE PRODUCT

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We purchased the Arlo Pro cameras for home security, but we have had nothing but problems with the cameras. A few of those problems are getting false image recordings where an old recording is showing as a new distorted recording. If you are not within a few feet from your Wi-Fi box, the connection sucks. I'm always having to charge the batteries and I compared to the quality of other products on the market this is not a great product. Worst of all, we have had two attempted burglaries in sight of the Arlo camera and nothing was captured on video. Thankfully for our neighbor's new camera system, he was able to get a good video of the crook's car parked in-front of our house and his camera captured a great face shot when they walked past his house. A few of our neighbors also have Arlo cameras and we are all switching to other cameras due to the same issues.
