We purchased this set to replace our original arlo pro 2 set that we began having connection issues with. The app would say the base station was offline even while being hardwired to the router. Throughout the year we were able to reset the base station to reestablish connection but after the last time we couldn’t get it to reconnect. We have an Tri-band Orbi mesh system that works great and we have no issues with any of our other devices so when we replaced it with this new set we expected not to have any issues however after setting up the cameras we noticed while logging into the app there was about a 30-60 second lag before the live feed would show up and it would take minuets to be able to view video footage from alerts after we received them. The camera quality is clear and the night vision is the best of any of the security systems we have owned but I don’t understand what would be causing the lag. Having recharging batteries and such an easy form of installations swell as the two way talk system contributes to the pros of this system. While it worked it was great but not having steady connection can make the experience a nightmare. With that being said I wouldn’t tell anyone not to give this system a try because it does have many pros we just seemed to have bad luck with it.

I feel the Arlo Pro2 is the best value/performance of the outdoor Arlo camera's. Image quality is descent, and when plugged in is able to use zones to focus on areas of concern. Seven days of recording are kept in the cloud without charge which makes this camera stand out over others brands. The app is easy to use and its easy to setup the camera and get going. If you choose an area with constant motion you should plug it in and setup a zone, otherwise your battery will run down quickly. I would be nice if they offered a non battery version to get the cost down, especially if you need to plug it in to get the zone option anyway. I have the Arlo Pro and now I've added the Arlo Pro 2. Both have been easy to set up and the Arlo Pro 2 does have a slightly clearer view. The battery life for both are good but if you have a lot of unnecessary foot or vehicle traffic they will eat it up quickly. Good security cameras for the price.

I use two of these cameras and they do the job. The motion detection affects the battery life significantly. If you place it somewhere that has many motion detection possibilities, it’ll die within two weeks or so. If not, it’ll last for months. Night vision works very well. Easy to set up, saves recordings for up to 7 days without subscription.

I am using Arlo Pro 2 as an indoor security camera and Arlo Base station that I received alongwith the camera since last 10 months Pros: 1) The video quality is very good. It can record full HD video during daylight. 2) The area of surveillance is very wide nearly 130 degrees angle from left to right 3) The infrared video quality is also good during night 4) The battery life is excellent. I kept camera on for 90 hours continuously and the battery reached 60% from 100 % during this period. So good for a short vacation when you are away from home. Cons: 1) The camera serves it purpose, so long as it is connected to Base station (model VMB3500). The base station continuously requires internet through CAT 5e cable and electricity. If camera gets disconnected to Base station or if Base station is removed from power source or if Base station CAT5e cable is removed from router, the camera simply stops functioning without generating any alert. This is a major loop hole that a thief can exploit to steal without getting recorded in the camera and I informed the Arlo customer service regarding the same but till date no response. 2) The motion detector is sometimes slow to respond. For e.g If I walk towards camera from far away, sometimes it starts recording video only after a time lag. This time lag is a second loop hole that can be exploited 3) This is specific to Base station model VMB3500. It doesn’t have microSD card slot to record offline videos. So, one has to depend on continuous internet connection to get videos recorded. 4) This is specific to Base station model VMB3500. It doesn’t have a battery backup. So if base station is disconnected from power outlet, the camera immediately stops recording. Also there is no alert or log of this activity. 5) This is specific to Base station model VMB3500. It can connect to router using only CAT5e cable and not through WiFi.

For some reason the way that it is displayed when you’re trying to purchase it online the one-camera set up with the round base does not clearly show that you won’t have a USB port or a siren. Unfortunately I found this out too late. As far as the functioning of the unit goes the picture I found to be excellent in the day and the night (at night time it’s black-and-white). The sound is excellent and it only records what I want it to record wirelessly. The battery life he’s gone 50% in two weeks, so you may need a back up battery. There is a slight lack of maybe 10 seconds.

Pro: The setup was really simple. Instructions are done through the Arlo app. It required a few restarts, but after a couple tries, everything connected well. Placement of cameras is a really easy since there are no wires, and it's a very huge convenience. I'm satisfied with the videos and the fact that no subscription is required for video history. Con: Battery life is shorter than expected. After 2 weeks cameras were very low on battery life. I changed settings for battery optimization, but it doesn't look like its helping much. I think it's because it's constantly capturing video of cars driving by. There's option to record activity zones only, but that requires the cameras be plugged in 24/7; not what I want from a wireless setup. I've adjusted settings to reduce the motion sensitivity, but I still get a lot of notifications when cars drive by.

So I purchased the old model 3 years ago for one rental, then this one for the new property. The video quality is much better with this generation. Both serve their purposes at vacation rentals. Utilizing the schedule times will help keep the battery alive. It will last two months on a charge if you schedule it to turn on at night, to early morning. If you leave it on always, the battery will be dead in a week.

This is a great little system to own. There are a few newer models out there, but I don't feel the price increase is justified vs the difference in features. This set includes two cameras and the hub and records in 1080p. It is also one of the only big companies that provides free cloud storage (for the past 7 days only). You can access the cameras via your phone or tablet using the app, and it has integration with your smart home using Alexa and Google. If you're an Apple Homekit user, you'll need to buy a different hub off Amazon that's compatible with home kit (hence the deduction of 1 star). The battery life has been awesome. I've had this kit set up for a few weeks now and the batteries are still reading at 97%. I also like the fact that you can set the cameras into geofencing mode, so that they only activate when my phone leaves the area. I do wish that they would upgrade the geofencing mode to include your phone's wifi connection instead of just using GPS though. If you live in a building with poor GPS signal you may find the geofencing mode occasionally activating even when you are at home. No big deal but it's something they could fix. Video quality is pretty clear, and the options for different mounts are endless. All in all a good system!

This is a first video camera purchase. Very easy to set up right out of the box. I would recommend purchasing the extension arm and power cord for greater position placement of camera and not having to be concerned about charging the battery. There is about a 4 second lag time between motion detection and alert to the phone. This is not a problem for my application as I use the live video to check on property when away.

The Arlo wireless security camera system was easy to setup has great images day and night as well as motion detection.

This outdoor camera provides excellent video quality. I mainly bought it to use the 24hr recording feature since the previous model (Arlo Pro) does not allow for this. So far I'm liking it a lot, however, since this is a wireless camera they should make it a point to mentioned somewhere in the description or directions that the 24hr recording feature only works while the camera is plugged in the entire time. So the camera is not wireless in this sense. It took me a while to figure this out since there is no description of this until you do some research. But if you only need the camera to record when motion is detected, then this camera can definitely be used wirelessly.

They always say that you get what you pay for, I believe that holds true with this camera and base; the quality is very good, both in terms of the build and the video produced/captured. The app is easy to use and walks you through the setup process. The only hiccup is that when placing the camera in the inside of a window that the camera must be facing directly outward and not an in angle or else it won't detect any motion.

I like the older ARLO cameras with the hub station it was more reliable than the newer cameras that use app set up and like that they connected magnetically the new cameras need additional bases and screws to set up. The picture quality is not as good as the newer Arlos since they don’t have spotlights but still good when I used them for basic security monitoring

Had a few break-ins in our area....never thought it would happen to us until it did.....We now have these up and along with the neighbors we have seen to see no more break-ins......Great picture, great sounds. They do take some time to get adjusted so your not picking up squirrels play in the yard. Night vision is nice to have as well.....I will purchase more or 360 security.

So far we like it. Chose it based on color, design and video quality (especially at night). Only complaint is that this particular home station does t have the USB input for local video storage like it advertised on the box and online for the Pro2’s.

I have had an indoor camera system looking out a windows for awhile and couldn't see anything in the dark. These add a new level of security and real easy to use. How often you have to change the batteries depends on how much motion these capture. You will love the ease of use of this product.

This is an amazing security camera, as it is able to record video and sound and in color as well. Video and sound quality is great and its also able to pick up night time activity. It is able to send you motion notifications when something is moving.

upgraded from the first generation cameras, love the new units battery life! the New base station works very well. it got me about 25 ft more range with the same location as the 1st gen base station. Better picture and beter motion recognition.
