Easy set up with tight security. I was completely finished setting up in under ten minutes of opening the package and going for my first test drive. Wa La...within two steps i was being recorded entering my home. So, now all ii do is turn it on when leaving home and turning it off before entering my home all through my cell phone.

Poor battery life and $$$ extras

Mounted on exterior gutters. Fully charged battery for one camera lasted about 35 days. The other camera was dead in about 45 days. That's very disappointing battery life given advancements in battery technology over past 10 years. Additionally the extras add up quick...the dual battery charger, solar charger, corded charging cable, etc. Just an inconvenience to have to get up in ladder every 30 days or so to charge them...of they lasted at least 3-4 months i think would be more reasonable. On the plus side the app works well and the video quality is great.

Good video but hard to operate

I have operated this for about 2 months and have found that the video quality is good, both for day and night recording, but the overall system is disappointing: * the base station periodically and randomly needs to be restarted in order to return the cameras online. This comes without warning and I've found out only when I cannot connect to a camera. * we have to periodically open the application on our phones and re-log in otherwise the system "loses" our location for the geofencing. Again, this is not alerted and detected only when the geofencing does not turn on. * you cannot extend the range of the base station WiFi so I've had to adjust camera location to compensate. We have a lot of stone, masonry, and steel in our house due to local construction regulations so I have to use extenders for our other WiFI networks. No way to do with with Arlo. * as I wrote with the doorbell, there is a 3 to 10 second delay when the cameras turn on. So, when you open the camera, there is a perceptible delay. Also, the alerts can take 30 seconds to infinity (never get an alert) for some events. * I have put a support ticket in for these issues but never got a response although they tried, unsuccessfully, to speed up the Arlo doorbell so I could have a dialog with someone at the front door. * I use local storage on the base station but cannot find how to set up a VPN to access the base station away from home. That was an option at setup but I cannot find it now. I think they prefer to push customers into the $10/month subscription. It is very hard to find technical details on the support site and even harder to connect with technical support. * for our front door camera, we can see cross traffic in the street but cannot see people coming up the driveway. I think the camera is too far away from the driveway to get picked up by the motion sensor. So, in fairness I think I've pushed their technology to its limit and, had I known, I don't think I would have bought this system. It's OK for what it does but I would not recommend this system. It's a sunk cost and in the future I'll replace it with something else. I wanted a wireless system and will look for another platform in the future.

    Great upgrade from the original

Great upgrade. I had the gen one Arlo set-up but, needed four cameras to take care of the viewing areas. They were good but the constant need to buy expensive batteries out weighed their benefit. Caught these on sale so that helped encouraged my purchase. These have rechargeable batteries, a microphone, and a spotlight. So I am very happy with my purchase.

After a lot of research I came to the conclusion that Arlo offered the best camera, options and hardware. I am happy to report that I feel the same way after my purchase. Easy to install the HUB, WIRELESS camera and app. The zones are a great feature to ensure that I receive localized "alerts" versus every time a car or animal crossed the camera path. I highly recommend!

    Not great

When you watch live, this camera has a out a 10 second delay and so when I talk to my kids outside on this, it can be annoying. The cameras often do not pick up all activities. I have it in the most sensitive setting and often times I misses a handful of activities. Last night (about 5 ft away from a camera) a bear went through my trash and never once did the camera pick it up. It wasn't until the bear was done and leaving that the other camera detected anything. The cameras also only record activities for about 20-30 seconds and so if someone robs you, then hopefully they show their face within that 20-30 second clip when they are being recorded (if the camera even detects them at all). I am overall not happy with this purchase, and wished I would have spent more on a ring system.

Cameras are good, app is terrible

Install for these is very easy and convenient and I love that they are wireless. I have had this system for one year now and must say the phone app is terrible. It is very slow and what I would expect from an app 10 years ago. I have to click things 3 or 4 times before it works and it takes forever to start viewing live feeds. The app is the brain for these cameras and it sucks. If the app had some major improvements and Arlo actually listened to the app complaints, then I would give 5 stars.

Cameras were very easy to setup, and I mean very easy, took less than an hour to install 4 cameras, 3 external and 1 internal, setup the hub to the network and adjust to monitor the areas required. Video playback is crisp, you can see the person as clear as anything. Took 5 separate contacts with support to get an issue fixed with one of the options, even though I told them what the issue was. Was only resolved after I took to Twitter to complain. Hint, any issues with support, go to Twitter. The camera has a microphone and speaker so you can take via the app to whoever is outside The light works great to capture those walking in the activity zone, and it does not impact the quality of the video The activity zones are not perfect, it doesn't activate until the subject is way inside the zone, but it still captures enough.

The set up was fairly simple. Mostly plug and go. Camera can be at a decent range from the base hub. The battery life ranges depending on how often the cameras are triggered to turn on the lights. Since purchase I have had to charge 3 of them once and 1 of them twice. I did not fully charge them when initially taken out of the box.
