Best security cameras ever I recommend them to all my friends and family

4 star only because the battery’s don’t last as long as advertised and you have to subscribe to a monthly plan for recording in the cloud. Other than that these cameras are high quality and the motion detection is great even at night.

These cameras are a very good upgrade from the previous Arlo basic cameras

My experience is that this Arlo system is great only for those who want to use it with the add-on cloud service which is initially free for 3 months. With cloud service, you get to see your recordings from anywhere and anytime. But if you are like me and you aren't ready to purchase the cloud service, then it is not so great. When I first got my Arlo system, I was seamlessly able to view my recordings on my own internal storage using my phone. The only problem however was that this only worked one one account and my other family members could not view the recordings. Ok, fine I learnt to switch that privileged to my wife's device by uninstalling and reinstalling. Maybe there was a better way. Now comes the part that prevents me from buying other Arlo devices that I was planning to get. A while after the 3 month free cloud service was up, we could no longer remotely view recordings on our internal storage. The video library always defaults to cloud storage on all our devices even though we no longer have cloud. On the one device that can switch to internal storage, it does not work. To see any of our recordings we have to go to the Smart hub, remove our internal storage device and insert it into a computer. But that is not all. If you have accumulated a lot of vidoes, and we certainly did, it is very time consuming to navigate to the ones that you are interested in because of the way that the storage is organized. With cloud storage, all of this is much easier so we either have to purchase the cloud service or switch to another camera system. If we decide to switch, at least I will know what questions to ask this time. I spent a lot of time reading about this Arlo system before I purchase it and I did not see this issue. Maybe most people are using the cloud service.
