Disappointing

Unfortunately these cameras did not measure up. Compared to the Arlo Pro 2 the Arlo Pro 3 pictures is much less clear and much more blurry. I have an excellent wifi signal and the connection was not the issue. Super disappointed in this system. Returned the unit for my $$ back.

Outstanding Features and Ease of Install
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The Arlo Pro3 cameras are quite a jump up from the original Arlo cameras. I have both now. These cameras add sound and better video technology including improved resolution. A giant step up is that these use a rechargeable battery as well. The setup using the new app is flawless. The cameras sync’d instantly with the base unit. One installation improvement could be for Arlo to include two mounts that screw into your outside mounting points. They only include one of these and one interior type ‘portable’ mount. This system had two cameras so why not two of each type of mount. This system is not cheap so go ahead and do this Arlo people. The recognition technology seems to be working fine i.e. object recognition – but I would need to view this over about 3 months to really see if it works. The camera app set up features are very nice to easily get your correct motion sensitivity level and camera orientation all honed in. These cameras also have a microphone so you can talk back and forth or mute your voice and hear what’s going on – this is a very nice capability the old Arlo cameras did not have. You can also integrate this system with Google Home for example. About the only real negative is the delay from the point the cameras pick up motion to the point where you see the live image on your phone. It seems you can say ‘go live’ and it will say ‘connecting’ for several seconds before you actually see the image. I realize the wireless latency is part of this, but wonder if Arlo can come up with some technology that keeps the camera ready without battery drain but allows the communication link to the base unit to be faster. The range-distance for the base to pickup the cameras is indeed great. The other feature like the library of videos, and scheduling active camera motion sensing timeframes are still there and are very well done. The weather proofing of the camera is great and the battery removal and replacement has been improved and is much easier than the old Arlo cameras in two ways. There is a button to push to release the battery pack and when re-installed the battery pack makes an audible and solid click to let you know it is closed up. I found that this system is overall super-duper and I do recommend these Arlo systems for solid build quality, excellent features and ease of install.

Great update to the Pro 2
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Being a long-time, happy owner of the Arlo Pro 2, the Pro 3 is a solid update with some nice new features. Setup is easy using the Arlo smartphone app. Everything is very straight forward and I was able to get the cameras paired with the base station in about 5 minutes. In terms of mounting the cameras, the 2-camera system that I have comes with (1) magnetic mount and (1) screw-in mount. The screw in mount is nice to have in areas where the camera could be easily removed if it were to be within reach. The magnetic mount is very strong so there is little likelihood of it moving or dislodging due to high winds. I had no issues with the Pro 2 mounts having those mounted outside for about 2 years in an area with high winds. 2K HDR image quality - it produces a very nice image indoors, outdoors, as well as at night, however, the 1080p image quality from the Pro 2 is very sufficient, so I would not consider this as a reason to upgrade from the Pro 2. Color Night Vision - this is quite good, however. To be able to see in full color vs black and white at night was pretty compelling. 160 Viewing Angle - the Pro 3 comes with 3 different field of view options: Wide (160 degrees), Standard (125 degrees), and Full (110 degrees). What’s nice about having these 3 different options is that you can set these to wider or tighter coverage areas which can aid in having more pertinent motion alerts without having to set up activity zones. Integrated Spotlight - probably my favorite feature. Mounted at my front door, this provides not only illumination for other people coming to my front door, but also a nice motion-activated light for when I come home. Love this. Package Detection - worked perfectly. Audio - the speaker on the camera itself is quite good and loud when you speak through the smartphone app. However, the microphone on the camera seems to be a little less sensitive than what I would hope for, as the voices coming through the smartphone app were quieter than what I would like (although still discernible). Overall, a very nice update to the Pro 2 camera system if you’re looking for the more advanced features like package detection and the integrated spotlight.

Total Rip Off

I guess I didn't expect Arlo to stop providing 7 day icloud storage but on the Pro 3 if you want to view any video except a live feed you must pay for a monthly subscription. This makes the system completely useless unless you pay $9.99 a month. Sure it says "Motion detected" but you don't know if someone just kicked your door in and is now inside your home or if a squirrel just ran in front of your door. Sadly it gives you a 3 month trial of "smart plan" so by the time I realized there was no free storage it was to late to return this. I can only hope I find someone willing to buy this off of me for something close to the $650 I spent. Stay away from Arlo, even though the older models offer free storage it is only a matter of time till they kill that. They lost a customer that used to praise and recommend them, I liked my Arlo pro 2. Sad.

Really easy to set up. But the battery life is horrible. It says it can last a month but we are having to charge it once a week. And since my husband took forever to put these up...it’s past the return date so we are out a bunch of money.

I purchased and was told I would have free cloud - not so..... Only 3 months worth and then you have to pay. They really are worthless. Most of the time they only record 10 secs. Also, I noticed that they do not always record visitors/cars in driveway. IE I went in my front door 5 times today bringing in groceries. Not one time did it record me walking from the driveway to the front door. It only recorded my car pulling into the driveway. This happens all the time. I'll have packages on the front steps and no notification from Arlo that anyone was here. Yesterday they came and delivered my riding lawnmower - lg truck arrived and stopped on street, unloaded the mower, drove it down my driveway, walked back to truck. Arlo recorded the truck pulling away from my house. Doesn't matter how quality, etc is, if it doesn't do it's job.......

Cameras are ok unless you need support

I am five days into trying to get a problem fixed--agents, when I get through to them after 90 minutes plus, spend a great deal of time troubleshooting--then transfer me up to a level 2, who promise to call me back but never do. Still can't record on two of my cameras.

Even my solar panel I’m having to return because it quit working

Awful cameras

Don’t work in the cold and battery doesn’t hold a charge. Arlo won’t stand behind the product and Best Buy in store doesn’t offer any solution to a defective product after 2 1/2 months that they sell. Will never recommend to anyone!

Poor packaging

I talked to a coworker who also had one delivered to her in the mail and hers was also poorly packaged.

SUBSCRIPTION NEEDED!!!!

Arlo 2, a cheaper camera has a 7 day rolling recording, but the Arlo 3, the newer and more expensive needs a subscription. Completely misleading as this is not visible nor known by the Best Buy associate I spoke to on the phone as they assured me that the subscription is only for the 30 day recording. I only learned the associate was incorrect after the 'trial' subscription expired. I am trying to exchange for the Arlo 2 or get my money back.

Arlo Pro 3 is a Horrible System

I have had several issues since day one. From leaking cameras that got water in them, 1 camera not working at all right out the box, had to get a replacement sent twice, the 1st one they sent me was the wrong camera. Their customer service is horrible!! Be prepared to get put on hold Atleast 5 times per call, and be on the phone Atleast 45 minutes minimum each time. Not only did I waste my money on the Arlo Pro 3 6 camera system that I can’t return to Best Buy for a refund, but I have hours if not days of my time wasted spent on the phone with Arlo. DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON ARLO. BEST BUY NEEDS TO STOP SELLING ARLO

Good but....

They give you three months of free access to their options you can buy, but some of mine didn’t work until the last two weeks of the expiration. I love the wireless feature but it isn’t worth it. Go with another system if you are smart with your money.
