The camera quality is ok, but the app sucks, and the batteries don’t last long. I bought a Nest, and it is 100 times better. Do yourself a favor and buy a nest.

Siren is a joke. It’s really soft, the idea of a siren is to bring attention. This would probably not. If you need a monitoring system, this will work. As a security system, I’d look elsewhere.

Terrible lag. I would never recommend these to anyone. They are absolutely horrible. They have to send everything to the server before you can see it. What a dumb concept.

The hub has a weak signal. When I connected my doorbell and floodlight camera through the hub, notifications became spotty. Worked great without the hub. Returned the set due to the issues.

Do not buy this product unless you plan on buying the subscription plan and the free trial is over. The cameras will not work if you do not buy the plan. I wish the salesman would have told me this upfront because I would not have bought this brand.

The Arlo Pro 3 is my first home security camera system and so far the experience has been overall very good but there are some drawbacks I can see. IN THE BOX: • 2-6 Arlo Pro 3 Cameras (depending on where and what size kit you purchase) • SmartHub (Required for Pro 3 cameras) • 2 x Rechargeable Batteries • Magnetic Charging Cable (2.5 feet) • Ethernet Cable • 1 x Screw Mount • 1 x Magnet Mount • Video Monitoring Decal • Owner's manual SETUP: Setting up the Pro 3 was fairly simple. First you need to connect the Smarthub to power and your router. Then download the Arlo app and follow the instructions to pair cameras and finish setting up the Smarthub. Unless you using a longer Ethernet cable to connect to your router the smarthub will need to be within a few feet of the router so keep this in mind for any range or connectivity issues to the cameras you will be mounting. After you get the camera and base connected you are ready to mount the cameras wherever you plan to use them! Very simple setup process. BUILD QUALITY: The Pro 3 is built very nicely. The case and camera insert are well designed with a good seal to protect against the elements. The magnetic charger snaps firmly into place which is nice since you don’t have to “plug” anything in but rather hold it close and itll do the work for you. Both the mounts which come in the box hold the camera well with no real play. Actually very pleased with the magnetic mount and its ability to hold the camera firmly. FEATURES: The Pro 3 is a good upgrade from the Pro 2 system and a good compromise from the Ultra which came out earlier this year. At 2K resolution this puts it squarely in between the two systems for resolution. The Pro 3 gives you most of the features of the Ultra at a lower price point which include items like the LED spotlight, Color night vision, Built in Siren, Wider field of view (Not quite as wide as the Ultra), HDR video, etc. Being that the Pro 3 is so similar to the Ultra they end up using the same batteries, charging cables, mounts, and accessories. This means using the two side by side on the same Smarthub can be done very easily. I am not quite sure if the Ultra can be used on the Pro 3’s Smarthub but I know the Pro 3 and other lesser Arlo cameras can be added to the Ultras Smarthub in case you want a cheaper add on camera. The Arlo app is fairly easy to use with everything being pretty intuitive. There are plenty of controls that let you fine tune the camera settings to your use. The system also lets you share the ability to view (or edit to allowed) the cameras in part of whole. This feature is nice so family members are able to access the cameras but it allows the main user to limit the ability to access all cameras or change settings for the shared accounts. The only problem I had with this was the process of sharing the accessibility was a little buggy and took a few times of logging in and out to get them to show up on the shared persons app. The app is split into “Mode”, “Devices”, and “Library” sections which allow you to access certain features separately. Its great they have a built in button to arm, disarm, or schedule the entire system to be recording or not recording with one button. The devices section allows to see live video from each camera, view quick icons of the current status of each camera (Wifi signal, battery, spotlight On/Off, or if the system is recording to a hard drive on the Smarthub. Also allows you to edit each cameras settings on this page as well. The library section are all the events which the camera has recorded on a certain date for that month. Overall the app has quite a few features which I am very satisfied with however at time it can be long to load live streams or access certain clips. New features to the Pro line include: • 2K HDR video with 160 Degree field of view from 4MP sensor • LED Spotlight with Color Night Vision • Magnetic charging cable (Same as Ultra) VIDEO QUALITY: The 160-degree field of view is perfect for almost any application (Except narrow entry ways). The 2K video is able to be streamed in full 2K on the app however on the computer it only seems to be 1080p without downloading the file. The video is overall very clear with up to 12x digital zoom which may help in certain situations but quality degrades fast as with any digital zoom. The colors seem to vary at certain times, with it being plenty saturated at one moment and being a little dull at other times. Nevertheless, the video is plenty clear in daylight and at night with the built in spotlight. The spotlight is good for about 10-15 feet before the effect with really taper off but great for areas where the camera is aimed over a driveway or hard surface where the light wont diffuse as much. The spotlight must be turned on for the camera to capture color night video. DISLIKES/PROBLEMS: I haven’t had many issues regarding the use of the Pro 3 cameras so far. The main bug I found was with the adding of an external hard drive to the USB port of the Smarthub. The drive is a 500GB USB 2.0 external hard drive I had laying around. Formatting for the Arlo systems requires it to be FAT32 which most devices cannot format to without use of an external program (or using Arlo’s Smarthub itself) I tried several times to format using the Smarthub and it would take a few seconds of loading and then would act like it was finished without any indication of success. Well I come to find out after you format it and the program finished the “formatting” indication I had to unplug and plug the drive in and it worked! I believe this is just a bug within the program that doesn’t refresh the connection to the drive or something of sorts. This may or may not happen with a solid state thumb drive or hard drive but just something I came across. Currently you cannot access video from the hard drive from the app but supposedly this is coming within the next few months. The other small problem I have noticed is with (I assume) a particular mounting location I am using. Two cameras are mounting in the front of my house and both see the street within their view. Well more often than not the one always picks up on cars and people in the street however the other does not. This has only seemed to happen when a car is parked in front of the one camera in the driveway. I am not sure if the sensors are being blocked or there is some sort of interference with the car being in about two thirds of the frame but the one camera does not pick up the same motion of the cars driving by even though its well within its view. I have been very impressed with the range of motion detection of the other camera considering objects will be about 75 feet away and it will pick them up. I would assume if the same motion is detected by both cameras it should alert you from both cameras but I will be verifying this with Arlo to see if it’s something to do with a car in the frame or something to do with how it is angled. Lastly, a dislike I have is with the price of Arlo’s accessories and subscription plans. The cost to buy accessories for the cameras is pretty astronomical. Asking $50 for a 25-foot charging cable or $40 for two magnetic mounts is ridiculous to me. Now I believe third parties will resolve this issue but I believe the cost of accessories is about 33% too high. Also the fact the subscription plan is required for any cloud storage after the 3-month trial is a huge bummer. I could see paying for only one or two cameras via the $2.99/month smart plan for cameras that might be of importance to you otherwise I don’t believe it is worthwhile. OVERALL: I have really enjoyed using the Arlo Pro 3 system so far and I believe it’s a great home security system. I will be interested to see long term reliability and how the battery life actually tends to be. I don’t expect to get the full 6 months out of our cameras but even at 3 months I would be pleased. So far within the 72-hour period we have used 12% on the less active one and about the same on the other within a 48-hour period. This is with 15+ detections a day on the active one. I would definitely recommend the Pro 3 to anyone looking for a quality cameras security system for their home that offers Amazon Alexa or Google Home integration just be aware of the potential cost for a subscription or cost to expand the system via accessories or additional cameras.

Customer support is worthless. As soon as the subscription that came free with the system ended, functionality disappeared. I thought these had 2 TB of internal storage but really they are compatible with storage... Since I don't have the cloud support anymore, these warn you when something triggered the motion sensors but doesn't record anything. I was very excited about these initially but I absolutely wouldn't buy them again.

I don't get the high reviews for this product. It is junk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't buy. The physical product is nice, looks good, high quality. When it comes to the software, the physical quality goes out the door. No responses from tech support. The AI doesn't work, the activity zones are a bunch of squares, chatted with tech support, they said it is known issues but don't have a fix. I get over 1000 alerts a day because the smart notifications don't work. Can't customize alerts, and on and on...Don't buy!

Upgraded from my pro 2's and the clarity and angle improvement are substantial. I was able to hook up my old cameras to the new hub which was nice. Set up was quick and painless as usual. I have only one complaint, my old system had the siren in the hub which could be hidden in the house and was super loud. The new system has the siren in the cameras and are not nearly as loud. The quality is much better though. I like the color night vision and may end up liking the led spot light but at this point I see no use for it for my set up. The app is easy to use and makes monitoring the house a breeze. Overall I'm very happy with these and will try and see if the new cameras are compatible to my old hub so I can retain the alarm siren in the hub.

For the highly rated security system, I would not recommend it. This is one of most expensive systems and it gets more expensive because the app is useless unless you have their subscription which is $120 a year for this 4 camera system. It writes to a external drive but you can’t see those videos when you are away from home. If you can read write delete from the cloud, it should be the same from an external drive. Otherwise provide a free number of days of video. Very disappointing.

      Hello Linda,

Thank you for taking the time to share your Arlo Pro 3 experience. We recommend enabling Direct Storage Access. Instead of removing the microSD card or USB storage device and plugging it into your computer to view recordings, Direct Storage Access enables a fast way to directly view recordings through the Arlo App at the full resolution of your Pro 3 cameras. For more information: https://kb.arlo.com/000062337. If you are requiring additional assistance with Direct Storage Access, please reach out to our Support team by visiting: https://www.arlo.com/en-us/support/contact.aspx.

I have a couple cameras that I've tried, Ring & Wyze. Love the price of the Wyze but it's not outdoor, has a cord, and poor picture quality. The Arlo cams are amazing! EASY to set up. Download the app, plug in the hub and connect the cameras. The cameras have soo many settings, it's almost too much! The picture is clear and the distance away you can put them is outstanding. I have aluminum siding on my house and was worried they wouldn't work. I was wrong! The one I have over my garage is about 75 ft away and has great signal strength. The algorithms do pretty good at identifying what is moving, vehicle - person - animal. Installation was easy, but I do wish both bases were magnetic. That would make them easier to take down and charge. I'll have to look into a solar charger for them. The app so far connects well so I can see what is going on when I'm away from home. I'm not sure on battery life yet. I have to research a bit. It says 3-6 months but one camera that I charged 3 days ago is now at 66% which is not good at all.

Great camera for beginners! but for US household. If you have purchase this ensure before payment cause after the policy warranty of sale you will receive a huge headache in getting your money returned back to you. I own the the same model at a different location and we have the system working within the international version and no trouble with this. Rather you purchase it through Arlo it self and tell them for what country use it is. Otherwise the operation for recording will not be able to work for your needs.

I read stellar reviews for this product and initially it seemed great. However, after a while, I noticed that it often takes forever to load up the live view. When I searched their community forum, it turns out this has been an issue for years (with the older pro models too) and they’ve just ignored it. Sometimes it takes close to 20sec to load up live view on the app, sometimes it just doesn’t work, even after I close the app and reload. It’s not my internet, as everything else works perfectly fine on my network.

Sorry I purchase Arlo cameras. Will never purchase this company's products again. My introductory subscription expired and I have been trying to purchase a new subscription for over 2 months. Arlo's website doesn't work and their customer service don't know how to help with a subscription purchase. If you only want a camera to see what is happening live this camera works well, but if you want to record activity it only works for the first year.

When researching wireless security cameras, you’ll see Arlo does quite well. I feel these reviewers used these for a very short time, maybe a week then wrote their reviews. I have to say after using these for 10 months, going through all the support forums, upgrading Internet, and routers etc.. plus paying for the $30/mo subscription= this system is unreliable and way over priced. Sure the app is good but that’s all I can say to give a 1 star.

I installed these this weekend in both of our door entrances. So far very impressed. The video and range is excellent. I also added a solar panel on one which will be much harder to access to charge. The cameras and solar panel were both easy to install. The motion detection has been perfect. The ability to filter out notification for cars and our dogs makes a huge difference. Geofencing has also worked perfectly with mine and my wifes Samsung phones connected. No connection issues or false alarms. The spotlight features does a great job of lighting the scene at night. The range is impressive. Very clear and detailed especially the highlighting of the triggered motion. The only 2 negatives i seen were accessing the live video is somewhat slow and the quality of the screws to install the mounts is not very good. This is a perfect alternative to lower resolution cameras or cameras where 4k is unnecessary. Definitely worth the investment.

Camera view is good but motion sensor is useless. It would not sense motion most of the time. When it did I could walk to the door before getting a ping on the phone. By the time I opened it and the video came up I had been standing at the door for several seconds. I was told by Best buy expert that I would sense motion from several hundred feet away....not true!! Unless you are watching the camera all the time you won't know there is a problem until it's too late. Returned it immediately.
