Has some problems getting a clear image at night of people and animals at a distance. Would like to have more magnetic mounts. Easy to setup...nice interface. Great pictures up close. Like the identification feature. Need more time to evaluate battery life.

Did a lot of research before deciding on the Arlo Pro 3. When I opened the sealed box, there were only 2 magnetic mounts, and 2 were missing. I contacted support through chat (phone was more than an hour wait) and explained there there were 2 mounts and corresponding screw packets missing. They said they would send them out and I should see them in 2 - 3 business days. In the meantime, I mounted two of the cameras. One of the cameras was focused on the front yard. I was getting alerts every time a car went up or down the road. I set up and activity zone that covered only my front yard. I was still getting alerts for cars on the road. So, I made the zone tighter and pulled it further away from the road. I also turned down the sensitivity to zero. Still got alerts. These constant alerts were quickly draining the battery. During the course of trying get the front yard camera working the way I expected, I received a package from Arlo 8 days after having contacted support. In this package was a single magnetic mount. No mounting screws with the plastic collars; no second mount. So, I once again contacted support. I told the support rep what I received. I asked him what my initial chat specified. He confirmed 2 mounts and the screw packets. He investigated a bit further and said that there was a second package in the shipment and I should wait for that one. Four days later I received the second package. In this package was a single packet of screws. Not even the right ones for the magnetic mount. With the incompetent support, and the camera not working as expected, I decided I had had enough. Took down the cameras, packed up everything and returned it. I really wanted to like these. But problems aside, it was clear that the batteries were not going to last as long as advertised, especially with any amount of regular activity.

Good value. I like the quality of the hardware and the App is easy to use. Would have liked to see the package contain both options for mounting (magnetic mount and fixed mount) instead of only one of each. Setup was easy. I would recommend this unit.

Although the 2k images are great, the battery life and support are not. Light to moderate use gives a 100% charged battery about 2 weeks run time before you have to recharge. Have fun running outside in the winter to charge your camera. I researched and researched and finally pulled the trigger. I wish i didn't. Should have listened to my gut and went with a tried and true wired system. Support?...... yea.. good luck with that. Better off just googling for your answers.

Met all of my expectations. A bit pricey, but very high quality

So, unless you built your house and had it pre-wired for security camera system, you probably don't want to go through the hassle of running wires around, especially if you want to put a camera where it isn't easy to get the wires to. Thank goodness there are truly wireless security camera systems out there! We had been looking for a few years at getting wireless security cameras to complement our video doorbell (which doesn't really have a large enough viewing area because of where we had to mount it), but none out there had the features that made the price worth it or just didn't look too bulky. The Arlo Pro 3 system seems to have the right balance of features and design for the price. The biggest key is having a rechargeable battery to go with being wireless. Depending on your settings, the batteries will last up to 6 months. To recharge, the charging cable has a magnetic pad that connects to the bottom of the camera, then a USB plug on the other end to plug into the provided charging adapter, or you could even possibly use a power bank (if you want to leave the camera in place have a place to set the power bank). Full charging takes about 3.5 hours. Getting everything set up was fairly easy. Once I downloaded the app and got the account set up, it didn't take much longer to connect to the SmartHub (which is a slimmer, more uniform design from previous models), then sync the included cameras. Installing the cameras were easy as well. The 2-camera version comes with on magnetic mount (with a single installation screw, where you slide-on the mount) and one fixed mount (with 3 installation screws). For monitoring, you can turn different motion detection types on or off (People, Vehicles, Animals, All Other Motion), change the sensitivity of the motion (amount of activity needed to trigger a motion alert). You can also set up a schedule for when to be "armed" to send run detection and send notifications (or you can set to be armed all the time). You can also trigger notification alerts based on sound. There is also a new Package Detection feature (which was still in beta testing as of this time). I was hoping it would detect the package on one of our deliveries, but the shape (very long, thinner package) probably didn't quite meet the detection requirements. We'll keep trying. The video quality is quite good. Being 2K (Quad-HD, or 2560x1440 resolution), the image has a bit more detail than Full HD (1920x1080) cameras. During the day, everything looks really good. For me, the main issue is at night. When viewing on the phone app, the middle is really dark, and cannot really see anything unless the screen brightness is turned all the way up. We do have front lights that are on all night, lighting up the edges of the viewing area, which may be causing an issue with the night vision. But, when the spotlight is turned on, it will switch to color, and then shows quite nicely. Also, when viewing live, there is 2-way audio, so you can talk to whoever is there. Or, if necessary, you can turn on the built-in siren to (hopefully) scare away an intruder (or to freak out your kids :). I do like being able to zoom in using the app when watching the video. There is also a feature you can turn on that will zoom and pan to follow a person during People Detection even (the panning is a little choppy, but still effective). If desired, you will have a choice of Arlo Smart packages to sign up for after a 3-month trial (starting at $2.99/mo. per camera), with each level adding more features available. There is also a Continuous Video Recording (CVR) package that is $19.99/mo. per camera. You also have an option to connect a USB storage device (flash drive or external HDD/SSD) to the SmartHub to keep your detection-initiated events, but you will need to connect the device to a computer to view (no remote access). All-in-all, we're impressed with this system so far and are glad to have the extra piece of mind it gives.
