    Nice cameras for home use

Comes with everything you need, including mounting hardware. Includes one magnetic base, and one outdoor security mount. If you’re upgrading from older cameras, the old magnetic base won’t work with the new camera, so you’ll have to mount the new base. The mag base mounting hardware does include a small spacer, which takes the guesswork out of how far to drive the screw into the wall. App immediately found the base & automatically upgraded the firmware before doing anything else. Setup was quite effortless and efficient. Camera batteries came partially charged, so you can get them setup & running right away if you want. The Pro 3 cameras have a much broader view than the Arlo Pro 2 that these replaced. The 2K picture is nice, but you can only see it from the app, which would more than likely be the small screen of your phone. Why they can’t/don’t enable viewing the 2K picture from a PC on your local network is a bit baffling. The Pro 3 cameras also come with a built in spotlight, which is required to see a color picture at night, but I’m not sure how often it’ll be used. If nothing else, perhaps the spotlight coming on may scare someone away. If the light doesn’t scare them away, the alarm built in to each camera should. I should also mention that you can pair older Arlo cameras with the Pro 3 base, so that’s a plus. One thing I don’t like, is they switched the charging connector for the camera from a micro-USB to a proprietary connector. The proprietary connector is easy to use, but now you can’t easily charge two cameras at once by using a spare micro-USB cable & charger that you probably have lying around anyway. Another thing I’m not fond of is that many of the ‘advanced’ features, such as activity zones, require you to purchase an ‘Arlo Smart’ plan at about $3/month/camera or $10/month for up to 10 cameras. $120 a year is a bit pricey, in my opinion. Ironically, given the much broader view of the new cameras, you’ll almost have to pay the extra $$ if you want to avoid the motion detection activating the cameras constantly. Overall, the installation flexibility, picture quality, and battery life are strong selling points. Nice camera system for the average homeowner.

    Great When They Work

They give a great picture and notification when they work. Ive had the issue where they keep saying offline though. Apparently you can't be too far from the base station so have to buy multiple base stations which is a bummer.

After researching the issue of the app not syncing with the base station, it appears that this is not an uncommon problem. Two hours on the phone with technical support and no resolution. Would not recommend this product. Will be returning for a refund. Very dissatisfied.

I really wanted to like these cameras but I could not for the life of me get them to register movement. I watched video on top of video and read for hours how to help this or fix this, nothing worked we ended up returning them to buy more blink cameras.

I prefer the older models these new cameras are constantly needing to be charged and as far as the HDR you really can't tell much of a difference. Looking back for the price difference I don't see that its worth the extra money in my opinion.

The Arlo system was easy to set up and activate with instructions provided. Good video quality. Only complaint is slight delay in onset of video recording with motion detection. Ideally should capture a couple seconds before activation.

Improvement over previous generation; still buggy

Overall, I've been happy with the Arlo product line. This setup was to expand upon the two Arlo Pro 2's and three security lights that I already have. Setup of these cameras was very easy, especially in comparison to the previous generation. The cameras paired quickly and seamlessly with the included hub/base with little interaction required on my part. I was able to pair all of the previous generation components to the new smart base by pushing the 'Sync' button on the older cameras; a wizard for setting up each component made setup a breeze. So why the loss of one star? Unfortunately, the Arlo app, while a nice user experience and easy to use, still has some well-known flaws. My biggest complaint is in the geofencing option. When geofencing works, it makes this a fantastic setup. However, at least a few times per week, the system will either not recognize that I or my wife (the two phones that I have setup) have left the house, or will not recognize that we have returned. In many cases, this has forced us to simply disarm the system to avoid any useless and annoying alerts. On the second night of having these high-def units installed, a dense, rolling fog on my front porch caused these to trigger motion alerts all night long. I'm not sure whether I should praise the fact that the graphics were good enough to pick up heavy fog or criticize them for not being able to detect the fog by way of the "Smart Alerts". Barring this, the Arlo ecosystem is quite nice and is a nice edition to my expanding smart home technologies. I just wish the few bugs could be worked out and that Arlo would add in a Ring-style doorbell that provides video and audio, as opposed to just audio.

Stays offline more than online! The camera system is unreliable, and I think the employee who talk us into the system didn't mention it was unreliable just to get us to buy a more expensive system.

I already own an Arlo Pro 2, so I will be comparing it against the Pro 3. Opened the box and notice the camera is a little bigger, but that's because the new cameras have a light installed. Also, assuming because of the 2K capability. Setup the base to my router and it was an easy setup. I already have the app on my phone and just easily setup the cameras. It's nice that I was able to add the cameras from the Pro 2 to the Pro 3. The HDR is the Arlo 3 camera is automatically noticeable with the same by side with the Arlo 2 camera. More visible detail and better lighting. Picture quality is definitely an upgrade. My only issue is the siren in the cameras for the Arlo 3 and not in the base as it is with the Arlo 2. The siren is very loud in the Arlo 2 base. The siren in the cameras for the Arlo 3 isn't as loud. It's more annoying like a car alarm going off in the middle of the day. It may draw people's attention, or people may ignore it. Overall, the Arlo 3 is an improvement over the Arlo 2 and it's worth the price.

    Good Home Security

    Posted .

The Arlo Pro 3 offers a good security system for the price. The video quality is great and the notification function is sensitive to movement and sounds. The notifications can become overwhelming, but this is overcome by utilizing the zone activity function to isolate areas which are subject to high-trafficked, low-threat areas, like a busy street. This allows you continued coverage for high-interest areas, like doors and the perimeter of your home. I think the battery life could be improved, but this can be assisted by using the solar panel that they sell. The fee for cloud storage and smart monitoring, which picks up animals, cars, and people, is worth the cost. The camera is accurate in identifying motion, animals, vehicles, and people, as advertised. This is less sensitive at night in identifying what the object is, but will still pick up motion, so the event is stored for future reference. I have not used the e911 feature.
