Great cameras and high quality pictures. If the camera picks up a lot of movement the batteries don’t last very long.

The Arlo cameras are great wireless cameras. The battery doesn’t last long at all if you have the motion settings high but getting one of the solar panels is a great option! The day time clarity in the picture is awesome but the night vision is a little grainy. There are definitely pros and cons but overall a great camera.

I've invested in two base stations and 8 Arlo Pro 3 cameras. It was between the Google Nest and Arlo security cameras when I was first shopping around. I chose the Arlo cams because they are wireless. The first bad news was that I needed to purchase chargers to be able to set "activity zones." So I did for all my first cameras. Then I ran into a problem with no notifications or video clips of movement. After HOURS on the phone with Arlo support (which is coming from a call center outside the US) they were able to help me trouble shoot and my cameras worked normally. I would get alerts and video clips. The video clips on the app is free for about 3 months. After that a monthly subscription has to be bought. I had purchased 24 hour recording but I found it confusing to navigate through the clips so I canceled that. The latest cameras I bought came with an update that does not require them to be connected to a charger to create "activity zones." I'm so far happy with the cameras. I hope things don't get messed up once the free video clip trial period ends and I switch over to a subscription. Since I have invested about $2,000 on these cameras I don't think I'll be trying other brands like Google Nest. I put all my eggs in one basket. Things have been working fine for now. Hope not to have new issues come up.

These are the best Arlos I own (have a mix of the 1080 and these 2k .. there is quite a difference) but they're expensive. The quality of the video is so much better than the older ones though! I can only imagine what the Ultra vids look like but for now, these will do. Best Buy had a fantastic package, including 2 solar panels so I grabbed it and very happy I did!

Before I begin about Arlo, I’d like to explain my background. I have graduate degree and have been working for software company for almost 15 years. My main role at this company to manage the technical aspects of our clients’ accounts. I mostly have to know every technical nuance of the software, make sure our clients are set up correctly, and explain anything I am asked about in the most layperson way possible. I am very good at figuring out technology. Enter my search for a camera system. I wanted integrated cameras with a fast motion response, a great picture (day and night), and some audio. Most of my neighbors have Arlo and LOVE it, the reviews are stellar...it checked every box. We ordered the 4 camera with hub combo system to try and cover each corner of the house. 4 is not enough it seems but that’s another story. The camera are packaged well and shipped pretty fast. The design is great. I was busy with work and the kids when the cameras first came and I wanted the box off of the counter. I therefore asked my husband to figure it out (He’s a Mechanical Engineer). He got everything working within minutes. It took him weeks to get the motivation to mount one on the house...but that’s not Arlo’s fault. :) I could of done it myself too, I suppose, so I shouldn’t complain. Mounting also only took him a few minutes (We have not opted for the solar panels yet. We have been running on the battery that comes with the cameras. It’s depleted about 50% in a month). The picture is very clear near the camera. Anything needing to be zoomed in on is much less clear. The camera is about 200 feet from the road. It’s hard to make out a clear picture of detail happening on the road. This is where my problems start happening. I don’t care what’s happening in the road and I can’t see it that well anyway. I don’t want notifications for these events, which are 90% vehicles going by. Since my husband set up the cameras initially, he was the one who first downloaded the app and created the account. From there, he can send an invite to others to also view the camera. The invite screen has an option to include admin permissions to the person you are inviting, which he did. When I downloaded the app and accepted the invite, no camera would connect. I had to call tech support to be told that the first person (my husband) needs to send me the invite for only one camera, not for all four at once which the app allows (You check the box next to the camera you want to share and then send away). Once I accept and see the ONE camera I was given permission to, he can add the others to my permissions. This seems like a major bug to be. Anyone having more than one adult in their household and more than one camera will run into this same problem (Note: My husband and I both both have iPhones with the OS app). Worse than this bug, in my opinion, is lack of consideration with admin roles in the app. My husband’s account has certain features that mine does not, even though I have admin rights. So I need to borrow his phone to make changes, such as the setting to remove notifications for certain events like vehicles or to create geofencing for the “zones” I want to monitor. This brings me to the other issue: Those features don’t work. The constant notifications about cars going by was driving me bonkers so I used my husband’s phone and created a “zone” where that just covered the yard. I excluded the sidewalk and street because I don’t care who drove by or is walking their dog. But I still get notifications for events outside of the zone ALL THE TIME (Hundreds per day). I then used his phone to 1) Check the zone (It looked fine) and 2) Toggle off the option for vehicle movement notifications. This didn’t work either. Or maybe it did? It’s hard to say if the 156 notifications that were cars (outside the fence) are less than normal or less people were driving by. But does it really matter when you get over 100 notifications? Note: I live in a residential suburban neighborhood. I can’t imagine how annoyed I’d be in a city. I can’t help but think if I’d get a better battery life if the camera was not going off every two seconds. One more complaint: The notifications are delayed by several seconds. I saw this complaint a lot with other cameras but less so with Arlo. There IS a delay. A package will come and the driver will be gone before my phone notifies me. Then I open the app and have to wait another 20 second for the recorded video to appear. It will show me the package being dropped off, capturing the driver come and go. But I don’t know it happened until it’s all over. In the end, I am pretty sure these flaws are not user error. If I can’t make this app work for us, I don’t think a lot of people out there can. If the app can be updated to 1) Allow both admin accounts to have the same functionality and 2) Make those functionalities actually work...The star rating would be much improved.

I love my cameras! I love the quality of the videos, that they’re in color. I have been home sick for the last three months (Not COVID) and I have been concerned how my chihuahua would behave once I wasn’t home 24/7 anymore. I love that I can talk to him throughout the day. I think it’s great how you can change what the camera picks up on, movement and areas (zones). I really like being able to set zones. There’s no need for me to know every time my chihuahua moves but it’s nice to be able to see him.

This is the second Arlo hub station I purchase and now I have a total of 8 cameras. They are easy to connect and view in the app. There is a lag between the live motion and what is seen in the live video stream. No major issues encountered except for the time that I wasn't getting notifications. Turns out I purchased a Smart plan when my free trial hadn't yet ended. That was somehow affecting the notifications. I will purchase the Smart plan once all my free trials end. They last 3 months for each camera.

Easy set up Suggest doing one by one to avoid errors. Pro Easy set up Clean look No wires needed Decent battery life Works great for items in close proximity Cons Would not recommend for spacious outdoor view. It would not read animals or me walking by in a distance. Needs to be 50-75 feet for optimal Not the best for night time
