Purchased this last March along with three Arlo solar chargers. I installed them on my Florida home as I live in Canada. None of the cameras are working now due to corrosion where the solar panels connect to the cameras. Don’t buy these!

Excellent camera system shows wider view than my older Blink cameras. The batteries can be charged and last 2-3 months on the charge. Couple cameras bought the accessory to allow for 24/7 charging so battery never quits for always on with movements.

Battery life is similar to the Arlo Pro 2. Battery lasts about a month to six weeks. Video quality is poor compared to Arlo Pro 2. I have both Pro 2 and Pro 4 connected to the same Arlo Pro base station, pointed across the street. Pro 4 is not a very good image. Pro 2 image is better. Don't waste your money if you are expecting a better image. Pro 4 is set for max resolution in the settings. Upload speed through Xfinity is around 80 Mbps.

Arlo is a leader in home security. If you choose not to go with a wired connection, they are a top option. We have had no problems with battery life. Where we have hard to get to cameras, we just put an Arlo solar panel on it. No issues at all! Great products. Took our security to a new level.

Having had a competitor's similar system system installed for about 4 months now, I've had the opportunity to evaluate the strengths & weaknesses of each. Insofar as the resolution, this is the best I've seen so far. I also have dash cams in 2 cars that claim 2K, but nothing holds a candle to the Pro 4. As far as the night vision (which is color; my other system only does b/w at nite) the color rendition is excellent. Disclaimer tho, I have this mounted in a location that is in the vicinity of a 60 watt porch bulb, so there is some help available. If i turn the porch light off, there is some mottling to the image, but still very acceptable. To me, the other highlight of the Pro 4 has going for it is intelligent operation. It has the ability to distinguish between a person, a dog, or a package on your porch. You can customize these choices to send alerts for whichever you choose. Haven't tried this yet, but say you get a delivery dropped on your porch. It detects the absence of a human, but the image of an object that wasn't there before, then sends you a delivery alert. I've got mine set to include people, so would get the alert regardless.By comparison, a competitors spotlight cam I own goes off at night not only for any creatures, but gives constant alerts about moths flying by which quickly became such an annoyance i had to turn off the alert feature. Intelligence is good; don't bypass the feature when looking for a good camera that's useful, not annoying. There are two things that prevent me from giving a 5 star review to the Arlo. The competitor's system I mentioned has a similar size battery with similar claims to a 6 month life, and after 4 months, I've still not had to recharge. The Arlo, after only 2 weeks, has shown enough degradation that I seriously doubt a 6 month life claim. Granted, given the magnetic mount & magnetic charging clip (a nice feature, btw, similar to Apple's) but given I've seen other comments on battery life, it's something they should look at. The other thing is the mounting hardware given. For it's size, the camera is pretty heavy to the hand. For that, you get one pretty skimpy screw. I'm afraid that simply detaching the unit via the magnetic mount (which is pretty strong) will pull the mount off the wall. I have to be mindful to hold the mount with one hand while I detach the camera with the other. This is not a cheap system, I think they could've done a lot better. That said, the performance of the camera & software is top notch & state of the art, with some minor improvements I could also call it a best buy for the money.

The Arlo Pro 4 Spotlight camera provides the necessary "wire-free" worry a homeowner has. However, the camera does have its shortfalls compared to other wireless Arlo cameras that I own. Pros: Good Picture Alerts Work! Camera Settings Cons: Lack of Support Hardware is terrible Battery Life Night Vision The Arlo Pro 4 Spotlight camera has a solid, 2K video picture during the day. The colors are vivid and bright (with HDR), and even at dusk, the picture quality is good. However, the picture at night is a different story; it is almost a "Jekyll and Hyde" effect (more on this later). The sound quality is excellent, and the camera's built-in speaker/microphone, just like their other line of "wire-free" cameras, provides a clear sound if you are talking to guests outside your door or creeping around and listening to people outside your house. The tricky part of the camera, and to not receive alerts every two seconds, is to make sure you set your alerts correctly. What I mean is, make sure you select your ideal "alerts area" in the settings menu, underneath your camera. Otherwise, you risk receiving an alert for everything including, the wind, which by the way, drains your battery life on the camera (more on this later). The settings menu is full of options, such as (again) choosing what area of your camera you want it to alert you of movement, etc. Also, you have the choice to turn the spotlight off (a great feature if you want your camera incognito) and change the camera quality (again, I would choose 2K at the highest bandwidth; this is the best possible quality, and it is worth it). Though the camera quality (during the day and at dusk) was excellent, and the plethora of camera options give the user peace-of-mind, however, there are other issues with the camera that I will discuss. One of the strangest functions of adding a camera to your Arlo account is setting permissions and allowing other users to view specific cameras linked to your account. After several searches for support articles addressing "how to give access to other Arlo account users," and in my case, my wife being able to view another camera, there was no concrete support for this. What I wound up doing was, installing the camera on my wife's Arlo account, setting permissions, and the camera only working for her (not for me). When I removed the camera from her account, the 3-month trial removed itself with it. Meaning, I lost the 3-month trial (to take advantage of all the alerts and recording functions of the camera). When I reached out to support to regain the 3-month trial, nobody was able to help me (unfortunately, this was "lost" forever). A quick update, support said they are going to go ahead and give back the 3-month trial so, the camera is no longer a "live" viewing brick (hooray). Unfortunately, the back and forth emails (countless days) with different support staff and the suggestions by different staff were not helpful at all. My suggestion for Arlo is, do not escalate the issue amongst various support staff; the issue became confusing, and nobody had concrete answers. As for the Hardware, mounting the camera was not a fun process. The screw that was included with the anchor was garbage; I stripped it when I was manually installing the camera base. Luckily I was able to remove it, and I found a similar screw that did not strip. Also, I would suggest pre-drilling your spot if you are using their hardware to install the base for the camera (I did this, but the screw had a hard time anyway). Now, the dreaded battery life. After setting up my alerts and testing them, I found that the Arlo Pro 4 Spotlight camera had terrible battery life. On a three-day use of the camera, unfortunately, the battery died. I charged the battery for four hours, reinstalled it, and the battery drained quickly again. Even after changing the settings, and the area for the alerts, the camera's battery life was still non-existent. I own two other Arlo camera's, and I charge them, on average, once a month. Keep in mind, video quality and alert settings do play into the battery life as well (again, no issues with the other cameras). The night vision, too, is not great on this camera. I noticed a significant drop in-camera video quality (the picture was pixelated). The camera is a 2K quality camera, so the picture quality at night should be subpar at best, but it was not (even when I turned off the "night vision" option, the camera provided a pixelated image). The peace-of-mind of having a quality recording camera at night is out the door with this specific camera. If you are looking for an Arlo camera, and wireless, that provides a better at-night picture, I would suggest the Arlo Pro 4K camera over this one. Overall, the Arlo Pro 4 Spotlight camera is similar to other cameras in terms of day-time picture quality, sound, settings, etc. However, it fails with its battery life, and the picture quality is awful, in comparison, at night. I would recommend this camera if you are looking for an introductory wire-free recording camera, but if you want that peace-of-mind recording at night, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

      Hello Checkreviews,

We appreciate your time in writing your feedback about your Arlo Pro 4 camera experience. The battery life of your camera approximately lasts to 6 months with average use. If camera is set to record every motion it gets 24/7 and you stream it live frequently, it might drain its battery life faster than what is expected. For tips on how you can extend it, see info here : https://kb.arlo.com/291.
