Camera was easy to setup and pair with my existing ARLO hub. Easily added to my dashboard. Spotlight is adequate for indoor and local lighting outdoors. There is a nice upgrade in video performance compared to my PRO2 camera. Voice had a small delay but worked well also. I did knock off 1 star for the power cord. It uses a magnetic proprietary cable. So I was unable to utilize a longer cable like I do my older cameras - which means I now have to monitor the battery. The battery does seem to be lasting a while but would have preferred the cable. The advanced monitoring is neat and identifies People/pets and sends notifications via email of the captured Person/Pet. Overall good camera and priced well for home monitoring

I'll start by saying I got 3 of these and a hub, the version I got had the larger XL extended life batteries in the cams then got the solar panel chargers. This is to help you decide if Arlo's are for you. The battery life is nowhere near what they say. Even with the larger batteries it seems about 20 motion events a day will drain it 2-3% each day. That's only a month without removing and recharging. These smaller battery cams even less before taking down and recharge. The other 2 cams get about 5 motion detects per day and last more than a month without recharge. Trying to use these to constantly watch video drains them in a few days. I could only get that done on Apple Home app on my Ipad, via the hub which is supposed to help conserve batteries. You don't want to get these to try to watch constant video. Also selecting only "people" and "vehicles" in the settings for alerts helps or there are too many alerts and battery drain. The detection alerts are fairly accurate and timely. Similar to a ring doorbell. The video quality is good also. Also similar to a ring doorbell the first several seconds of motion are cut so you might miss a person walking past it unless they stop. The included cement or stucco wall anchors are cr@p. Too hard plastic with too small hole and not enough grabbing ribs. You'll tend to round out the screw head or spin them before getting them to work. If you're doing that type of mounting buy others before beginning project. The solar panels work well, I'm getting up to 6% recharge in a day with them so it's worth having those or usb hardwired option because recharging them isn't practical unless in an area with very little motion. To summarize I might skip the hub, and if you get it you might accidently bypass it during installation if you wifi pair to the cams. I don't know that it does much good. You'll want to get a solar or hassle with usb wiring option. Also you'll need a monthly subscription at $10 or sale or ID.me of $7.50 a month to get the notifications like the whole reason you bought this.

I like the Pro 4 spotlight camera. I have 6 of them which I've recently installed around the house, all outside. They synced quickly with my SmartHub and worked right away. I like the wide angle capture and the trigger function is pretty responsive. I wish the spotlight on them was a little brighter but overall I'm pleased. One of the rechargeable batteries in the camera kit would not hold a charge so Arlo is replacing it under warranty. It only took 4 chat calls over 3 days to their customer tech support get that to happen. That experience wasn't so satisfying.

This Arlo Pro 4 is a great addition to my Arlo 3 cameras that I already have. I can definitely tell the difference in the quality of the video, especially at night. To begin with, you will need to download the app if this is your first time with Arlo. The box doesn't come with directions on how to get the camera ready to charge and install because it is all in the app. One of the major pluses to this camera is that you don't need to have a hub from Arlo to connect this camera. As long as you have good wifi, you can connect this camera and have it up and running. If you already have an Arlo hub, then you can simply add this Arlo Pro 4 through the app. I have some cameras inside and some outside, so I replaced one of my outside cameras with this new Pro 4. The diffence is very clear. The image quality is very evident especially at night. I also really like the wide field this camera provides and the ability to track and zoom in on moving objects. Just like previous Arlos, this Pro 4 allows you to hear and speak to visitors if you need to. I replaced my old Arlo that I had on the front porch with this new camera, but I also have others that are completely exposed to the elements that have worked perfectly fine for 2 years. The mount comes with a magnet that binds it to the back of the camera. Some people have expressed fear that a strong wind would dislodged the camera from the magnetic mount, but I have never had that happen. If you are looking for a wireless camera that is easy to install with wifi and provides quality video, then look no further than the Arlo Pro 4.

Easy setup, high quality video, integrates well

The setup was very straightforward, as you would expect nowadays with smart devices. I downloaded the app, created an account, picked my device, and it walked me through everything from there. The magnetic mount is installed with 1 screw through a tiny plastic washer, you slide the mount over a clip on the washer and it seems to be very secure. I installed mine over my garage to watch the vehicles parked in the driveway after a series of vehicle break-ins in the neighborhood. It's only been up a few days, but it appears to be capturing and notifying me regularly with what it sees. The main things the AI seems to recognize very well so far are vehicles and people. It hasn't spotted an animal yet, but we live in the city and there isn't much wildlife that shows up on my driveway. I'll probably go in and customize the notifications and alerts as well as the spotlight. The device integrates very well with Alexa. Our home is set up with Alexa and HomeKit, but not Google. While I wish there were an integration with HomeKit so I could switch the operation over to HomeKit secure video like another camera I have, I decided it will be good to deploy 2 different systems as the local secure video has a couple major drawbacks. I look forward to seeing more of the benefits of the cloud service and will consider subscribing after the trial period is over. It was very generous to include 3 months in the purchase of the device. The Alexa integration took another 2 minutes to setup and I can ask our Echo Show to display the "garage camera" and I get real time video. Pretty cool.

    Not the Best Security Cam

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The battery lasts about a month max., and that is without the spotlight working. Not the long life Arlo advertises. The security mount is very cheap. To get any real use out of this camera you need to subscribe to a cloud subscription plan. It is a per month basis with no discount for a yearly payment, as other security cameras have. The picture quality is good however this camera loses Internet connections frequently. There are better cameras and plans out there.

Arlo cameras have been great but there should be an option to keep the spotlight off if you choose to do so and save the battery. It does miss a few things and doesn't record them but it's still a good camera system to start with. Probably will end up looking for a better system but Arlo is definitely a starter kinda setup and not long-term.

    Lousy Customer Service!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We recently purchased a 2-pack of black Pro 4 cameras. We have only set up one so far; pretty straight forward though I would call the mounting base not as sturdy as I would like; but it works thus far. So the camera is fine and we will be investing in more cameras, spare batteries, charger, etc seeing as we have already purchased these (not inexpensive) devices. The big issue we have had is the quality of the customer support. In our experience, it sucks! We have an issue trying to set up a second Arlo account so that the "system" can be viewed separately by different family members. The advertized 24/7 customer support has been non-existant in our experience. Anyone I have finally gotten to speak to has either tried to convince me to buy their subscription as the only way to fix the matter, or has promised that someone would contact us to deal with it! Any email request has also resulted in no response. As of today one of the customer service numbers goes unanswered and the other is permanently busy. So, the camera works ok, the customer service does not!
