Good peace of mind, satisfied
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Video quality is good and setup and install was relatively easy. Battery performance is not good, needed to connect power or was needing to recharge battery every 3 days. Configured motion alert sensitivity and battery optimization to try to help, but saw no real improvement.

Shouldn’t have taken so long to activate cameras
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was able to connect 1st camera almost immediately, however, it took about 3 days to figure out why my other 2 cameras would not connect. It was extremely difficult to get support from Arlo since there was no contact information available other than chat via online. This was not helpful being that the chat with the agents was lost 4 times. I finally contacted my internet subscriber and upgraded my internet service after realizing that maybe my internet service was probably the issue with being unable to connect the other 2 cameras and I was right. Cameras are all up and running now. FYI, the battery life is definitely not up to 6 months as per Arlo. One of my cameras batteries died already and it was up for only 5 days. I am not impressed with the battery life. For the price of the cameras there is no reason why batteries died during first week up and I had so much issues connecting cameras.

Great but a bit sloe
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture quality is excellent and battery longevity really good. Only downside is the latency and time to connect. I have 1gig fiber and mesh WiFi, so my network speed and capacity isn’t an issue.

Good simple set up
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Video quality is great and the set up was simple enough. Battery life will be a problem if you expect it to be recording 24/7 but the app makes it easy to set a schedule or arm the cameras when you leave the house.

Good for harder to reach areas
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall work really well. Not sure they are worth the increase in price over pro 3's. 3's require base station these do not but if they are not far from the house the 3's are just as good. One downside is if they are farther from your house they eat batteries pretty quickly but if you get the solar panel it will solve that issue.

Arlo Cameras - Easy Installation, Quality Video
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am very happy withe the Arlo Security Cameras. The product was easy to setup and install. The batteries are easy to replace and the battery life depends on the amount of recording being done. I setup two sets of cameras all outside to monitor my home. The cameras that are recording the most I expect to get about 3 - 4 weeks on the battery. The cameras that are not triggered as often I expect to get two months or more based on on my current usage. Connection to home wireless is easy to complete. These are wireless setup cameras so you do need to have proper wireless coverage at your home. You can setup zones so different areas will not trigger. I have had a handful of classification detections that are incorrect but for the most part the system can determine if it is a person, animal, or vehicle. Easy to monitor the cameras remotely if needed. This is a subscription based service that can cover unlimited cameras but does not cover full time recording. That service is rather expensive and if I recall it is per camera. If this is what you are looking for then I would consider another system to record to an onsite DVR.

Wired System Upgrade
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We upgraded our system to a wireless from our 6 year old wired cameras. Setup was a breeze on my main account. When I tried adding my spouse’s account it would not show the cameras. I called and worked with Arlo support and upgraded the app and was able to see the cameras. We did add a sixth camera and his account is still now showing it a week later. I will need to call Arlo support again. The app is why I gave the system a 4 instead of 5. 2K camera quality is SO MUCH better than the 1080p we had before with our wired system. We did splurge on the solar charging for the batteries and would 1000% recommend and purchase again.

Good Overall. Not Good Home Security.
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using this system for some time now. I like the video quality. Do to being a wifi camera there are days where the picture is pixely or blurry. It does take about 10 to 12 seconds most of the time for a notification to be received. Can take longer. Not sure if it's my Nighthawk wifi router, the cameras or the App. Activity zone still record activity outside a chosen zone. I have had to do a couple firmware updates which was straight forward. I got this on sale so for what I paid it is pretty good. I would not recommend these for security but for just checking your property from time to time it works very well.

Decent Camera System
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Decent camera system for the price. Battery life is no where near what the manufacturer says it is supposed to last. Battery is lasting on average about 12-14 days. Picture quality is top notch however. I would somewhat recommend this product if you don’t mind having to charge the batteries often.

Good purchase when on sale
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought on sale, at sale price matches the product. The cameras are good, and have more functions than I expected. The app/software isn't as intuitive as I'd like. I miss products having instruction manuals that would cover 90% of the issues. I'm sure if I go to their website, I can figure out the minor issues I'm trying to figure out. Like figuring out the difference between home/away. How I do know if my cameras are identified as internal/external. But the video quality is good, easy to replace batteries, and wasn't expecting lights or sirens on the cameras.

Great Quality but limited battery life
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The camera has excellent picture quality, but we're constantly having to charge batteries. With frequent activity we have to charge the battery weekly and for the cameras with less activity it's every 2-3 weeks. Climbing a ladder to charge them is cumbersome.

Good security at a great cost
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Arlo camera package was a good deal. The quality is decent. They were easy to install. The batteries do not last long, so you would certainly need to get the solar panels to keep them charged. Overall if you are looking for an inexpensive and good camera security system Arlo is a good choice.

Good Buy!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a good deal for 3 cameras, it was my first purchase off surveillance cameras. Only thing I don't like is having to change the battery but I like that it's not wired so i guess you can't have it both ways unless you have solar charger. App and video is very good, I speak to my pets through the mic feature and they hear me clearly. The light feature is also great, turns on when senses movement or on demand via app. You can make changes to your settings to meet your specific needs.

Great camera system
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although these may be more expensive than other cameras, I've had great experience with Arlo. I wanted to upgrade to these so that I could add the solar option on (my old cameras weren't compatible with the solar panels). These are great - I was able to add solar panels to two of them to use outside so I don't have to keep changing the batteries. These do require a subscription service - my old Arlo cameras didn't require one. I don't mind having that for piece of mind. I can check them when we're not home. I also purchased a new base station because I have a few old cameras I still wanted to use with these. Overall, I really am happy with my purchase.

Some Plusses. Mostly minuses
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are some things Arlo does really well here, but the product is (in my opinion) fatally flawed in one way that caused me to return them. First, the good: The cameras themselves are good. The setup is simple - create an account on Arlo's site, then use their app to link each camera by pointing the camera at a QR code on your phone. You then get options to configure camera settings, motion-detection zones, alerts, etc., etc. The wireless nature of the cameras makes placement easy - no need to run power or network to each camera, so this is a huge bonus. Physically, the mounting brackets are functional, but don't hinge far enough to let the camera be mounted under the eaves - it pretty much needs to be mounted to a wall. Not critical, but something you have to consider when looking at camera placement. Battery life was exceptional - although I returned the cameras after 2 weeks, they were still at 98%, which bodes well for the claimed 6-months battery life. Night vision image quality was mostly OK, but requires careful camera placement to get it to be good. For example, if there's one object in the view that is particularly light (say, a wall), then the camera exposure will focus on that, leaving other areas unreasonably dark. This may be a problem with many cameras, though. An exposure override setting would help this (I don't care if my wall is blown out if it enables me to see into the shadows). Object detection was flawed. The app gives you options for alarms based on different types of motion detection (e.g. 'Person', 'Animal', 'Package', etc.). As both a cat- and dog-owner, I appreciated the app telling me of an 'Animal' in frame (since I didn't have to worry so much about it), but I didn't appreciate my dog as always triggering a 'Person' alert. With no way to tune the detection parameters (e.g. train the system to recognize my dog as an animal), this quickly became a PITA. Motion Detection is also flawed. One camera was facing down a path to my (normally-closed) gate. I have multiple alerts and video clips showing my cat and/or dog returning from the gate, but no video of them going out to the gate in the first place. This gave me a complete lack of faith that the camera alerts were functional and reliable. The cloud service (which the camera relies on) only records ≈15 second video clips when a motion trigger occurs, so there's no way to go back and review footage if the camera didn't see an event. This also means you can't preview events to see anything before the trigger, nor see anything that happens outside of a motion zone. To be fair, this probably helps the battery life since the camera doesn't have to stream 100% of the time, but it could be an issue for you. Lastly, and the straw that broke this camel's back, is that the cameras are NOT HomeKit-compatible. Arlo do tout HomeKit support, but ONLY with the optional ($100) SmartHub base station (the cameras talk to the hub, which talks to HomeKit). This means that out-of-the-box, you don't get the home automation hooks that you might want. Even worse, no one seems to have the SmartHub in stock, so even if I did want to spend the extra money, I couldn't do it. I summary, a capable camera system with easy setup and controls, if you can find the right placement and are only concerned with triggered video clips, vs. full-time streaming.

Great Camera - No Power Adapter
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought two of the Pro 4 Spotlight Cameras to replace older cameras. Love the new cameras. Very clear and appear to give alerts a little quicker with the direct connection to my home WiFi than my old Arlo cameras that went through a base station. One complaint. NO power adapter - only a short charging cable. I was thinking about using a fast charge adapter I already had that was 20w but the Arlo representative I spoke with said they don’t recommend it. I needed a longer charging cord anyway so I bought the Arlo 25 ft charging cable that comes with a power adapter for $50.00. When you’re spending over $150 per camera, they should at least include a power adapter to charge them. Other than that, the cameras are working great and I would still recommend them.

Explore Other Options if Used for Exterior
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We’ve had Arlo for a little over a year and I regret purchasing these everyday. Pros: Camera Quality. Cons: Everything else. Alerts come in late, mostly not at all. The app is essentially useless as you can never connect to the cameras and I have a mesh network with full coverage throughout my property. We purchased the base station which is hard wired to the modem and its always disconnecting. These may be effective for interior surveillance, otherwise do not spend your money. We are switching over to Defender camera system, which is power over ethernet and we’ve seen first hand how efficient they are compared to this scam of a camera system. Don’t make my mistake and explore your options before picking up anything Arlo. Especially with their subscription cost.
