Needed some add-on cams for an existing Arlo system. I like how you no longer need a hex wrench to open the cover.

Unless you are a WiFi genius and can take your 5Ghrtz down to 2.5 Ghrtz you can forget about buying this product. You will have problems with connection and lag delay. It is not worth the hassle and the money.

It only worked for 2 days, and we had to charge the battery several times! Then it would just stop connecting to the internet. Bought a cheap 50$ one and have never had an issue

Pros: great clear quality. Cons: alerts at the slightest movement such as the shade of tree movement I added the solar charger to attempt to keep up with alerts and high battery use. I tend to turn it off to allow solar to charge device.

We have tried to set up the cameras in our beach cabin, but cannot pair to the wifi. We are going to pickup a Ethernet connector and have it wired rather than Bluetooth. I sure hopes this helps or we will have to return them. Hopefully it will work out.

A great security camera with great vision

The Arlo Pro 4 is without hesitation a great camera, with one the best video quality that I experienced. Entirely wire-free, with a great field view and wide-angle, can be placed almost anywhere. Inside the house or outside, once placed, it will cover a great area. The image is very clear including low visibility circumstances. The manufacturer defines it as night vision but this is a bit ambitious. While the objects and faces are visible, activating the built-in flashlight (you could regulate the intensity from your app to avoid disturbance to neighbors) helps you for a perfect vision. You can see that has been built to resist hard weather with a battery that stays protected inside the camera, securing the power in all circumstances. According to the specs, the rechargeable battery can last up to six months per charge, in my experience (one full week), I used a 9% that could be a bit shorter. The camera is recharged by dismounting it from the magnetic mount (included) and using the (also included) magnetic power cord. Installing the camera is absolutely done through their app. You will not be able to find any instructions in the box because everything is available after you download it. Once the app is downloaded, important to follow the indicated steps but make sure that you have a compulsory required 2.4 GHz wifi connection at home (a dual-band wifi 2,4 and 5 would serve) to end the setup. I like the app security, during the process when the setup is done, the double authentication step, requiring that the camera authenticates your device is very important. We don’t want that external source access to your device or your recordings. Once installed, the app options are (almost) infinite. As in many other cameras, the camera is built with the object and movement detection that activates the recording. Directly in the app, you can also define activity zones that could be the first receiving movement before receiving the alert on your phone. When the Pro 4 tracks a new movement, a notification is sent to your smartphone or tablet. The intelligent alerts are sent quickly and come with a preview image, so you can easily see what’s happening before opening the app. Other options allow you to turn the light when motion is detected. In case of an alert, a siren or a 911 call could be activated also with the app. While this model doesn’t require any base station to control the device, all is directly done from your mobile phone and recorded in the cloud. You need to consider (the aspect that I like the less) that after the 3 months free plan included, you would need a subscription plan with Arlo to access yours in cloud recording and some of the personalized functionalities. This is a monthly cost to add.
