Awesome cameras, the charge on the battery can last for months, but adding the solar power panel is excellent, activating the cameras is really easy, and with Best Buy you can get a great price, I have 12 cameras, I believe that just by having them would be robbers stay away. Plus with the Arlo app you get a live feed of what’s happening around your house.

I have Arlo’s basic spotlight camera from a few years ago that still works well so I was excited for this new updated wireless camera. And this does not disappoint. The set-up was quick and easy since I already have the app installed. I did have to update the app to finish installing this new camera. And boy, I love the new updated app. It’s easy to access the dashboard, the feeds from both cameras or I can filter the feed for one camera if I choose. I use it on the tabletop for a few days to watch and familiarize myself with it then I mounted it. Mounting was quick too, it’s comes with 3 screws for the wall. The mount screws into the back of the camera. When it needs to charge, I would just unscrew the camera from the mount and screw it back in. It offers 2-way communication so I speak from the app to the person on the other end. Sound was clear. It has a cool feature call auto zoom and tracking. The night vision works well, even in complete darkness, you can out what’s happening. You can set the sensitivity for motion and sound levels to help with battery usage. I’m curious to see how the long the battery lasts. I hope it does last few months because it’s mounted up high where I need to climb a ladder to remove it to charge. It offers a subscription plan like many other manufacturers do these days but you get the basics without it, like live streaming, motion and sound alert. The video quality is great and it has a nice wide view of the area it’s facing. The only thing I’m not happy about it that there is about a 25 second delay with me receiving notification of detected motion and sounds. If there was an intrusion, every second counts so that is disappointing. I hope there’s a way to fix that. I might look up info in their community section or try to reach out to Arlo. But otherwise, it works very well.

I recently needed to replace the wireless camera that reached the end of its lifespan in my backyard. I feel like it was Kismet the Arlo Pro 5s presented itself as a better replacement. What I didn’t expect was the slew of features and customization that this Arlo camera offers. Set-Up: Setting up the Arlo Pro doesn’t require a lot of knowledge whether this is your first wireless camera or you’re familiar with the set-up steps. As long as you follow the instructions, you’ll be recording in no time. The only obstacle that I faced was my Wi-Fi being difficult to connect to the camera. Again, that was on my end which was resolved by the friendly tech support. It’s a wireless camera that allows you the freedom to place the camera anywhere you want for as long as there is a decent Wi-Fi connection. Get Recording: I decided to place this Arlo in the backyard, facing the Catio enclosure that I built for my cats. Having the camera facing the catio allows me to monitor them without having to get up, outside and check on them whenever I hear a loud noise that might scare them (jets, large trucks driving by). This is where the app comes into play. With previous wireless cameras, the app(s) that were used were mostly basic without personal features. But with the Arlo Pro, I can customize the dashboard widgets to what I want. There are so many customization options such as: Color or Black & White Night Vision recording. Field of View Auto HDR (High Dynamic Range) Sensitivity for both auto-detection and Motion Sensitivity If you’re using the Arlo Pro as a means of security and detect an unwanted person on your property and want to bring attention to them, just activate the Activate Siren button which creates a pretty loud noise that will surely get the attention of neighbors. And if you don’t want to use the siren option then you can set up the, Call A Friend feature that calls your contact right from the app. Performance: The picture quality is amazing for the Arlo Pro! Daytime footage is clean and sharp, allowing the viewer to see important details such as a license plate, faces, or in my case, my cat trying to hunt a small lizard that had the misfortune to enter the catio. No matter what you’re using this for, seeing the details will prove important. The night vision for the camera is one of the best I’ve engaged with. During my testing, I had set up the camera out front and pointed it towards the street. I was able to see clearly the random walkers across the street that I wouldn’t see with my previous wireless camera. So, if you’re worried about your Halloween or Christmas decorations being messed with, then you’ll have a definitive electronic eye watching over them. And, the camera has two-way audio, allowing you to hear what the camera sees while also giving you the ability to communicate to who or what you are observing. If you happen to want to add more Arlo cameras to your property then this camera along with the app will allow for additions. Maintenance: The Arlo Pro will eventually need to be recharged. The app will display the battery life of the camera so there’s no guessing as to when the camera may be in desperate need of a charge. However, when there is low battery life, the camera will switch to Low Power Mode and will take photos instead of recording. I have not tested this as of yet since my camera hasn’t reached that low power level. Nonetheless, it’s reassuring to know that the camera will still document events at low power. Be Aware of Your Surroundings: Private cameras have an array of uses. Whether to keep an eye on your property (indoors or out), or perhaps to lend helpful evidence in case something happens in your neighborhood. Or you might just want to keep up with the crazy antics of your dogs or cats. I cannot think of a reason to NOT own a security camera. You don’t have to be an engineer or an electrician to set up and navigate the Arlo Pro 5s camera.

We live in a world where entertainers like siding with opposition DMs knowing their bad intent to others. (Scary.) Trust your vision only. America does have a crime problem. You can never really be too safe. Even playing the music you enjoy can be dangerous to the wrong ears outside your home for no reason. People are very unpredictable in nature and you always have to be prepared for anything. That’s why I’m glad Arlo gave me a chance to try out the Arlo Pro 5S 2K Indoor/Outdoor Security Camera. This device has excellent video quality and great detail when watching on your phone. Never used Arlo products before so this is my first experience with them. The 2K HDR resolution can see everything outdoors / indoors and to me, this must be one of easiest consumer cameras I’ve tried to set up for home use. With a 160-wide field of view, I was able to actually check out a big portion of a block party outdoors. The 12x Zoom is a big factor for me on the Arlo camera and it was able to do just that. License plates are very easy to spot with a camera like this. The device also withstood rain weather outdoors and remained connected to 5Ghz Wifi but also connected to 2.4Ghz. The experience of setting up the camera was easy enough with installation. No longer feel intimidated by using a camera system that could be cumbersome to set up. Color night vision is so sharp and acute in picture quality detail; I was pleasantly surprised with the feature as night vision usually is lacking. It’s a powerful night vision camera for its size. When people are on their worst behavior at night; the integrated spotlight turns on in an instant. There is Al object detection that lets you know the difference between a person, animal, vehicle, or package. Arlo Secure Plan allows you to access notifications for your phone quickly. There is a magnetic charging cable that comes with it so you can change up the camera when necessary. The camera doesn’t last that long about 2-3 days and it’s best to have a solar charger. This was the most annoying part of the experience. Overall, after trying out this product it was user-friendly and the guide was easy to DIY. Everything works as initially should and surprised with the app experience as it’s not super terrible. After trying it out for a week I decided to take it down as I have other methods of security and having to charge the battery every other day was getting tedious. If the solar charger was included I would rate this product much higher. But battery life seems to be the biggest issue. I truly enjoyed using the Arlo 2K Indoor/Outdoor and see the appeal of using one definitely. After all; we can’t have seven bodyguards protecting us at all times 24/7. But you can definitely have some peace of mind for your home and your personal spaces. Good camera would love to see some improvements for the new version in the future.

I was thinking of including a new security camera in my house and because I own a previous Arlo model, I thought that the functionalities of the 5s 2k model could be a great option. The main reason was that I was not very interested in adding different manufacturers and new apps to my phone but adding just a device. Still has an image quality ten times better. Unboxing the camera is a three-minute process of taking out all the plastic that protects the camera from scratches and installing the battery inside the camera. Good detail that the camera is packaged separately which will extend the battery life during storage time. The battery comes at 75% charge and up to now has been enough for 2 weeks of functioning in an area with a lot of movement detection. Checking the specs it seems that I will have more than a month of power guaranteed. Very easy to install and activate. Just download the Arlo app and your camera will set up by itself in a short period including the app on your phone and the cam. After the first connection, the update of software however could take some time. This is a wireless camera so, I love that can go anywhere and the installation is cable-free. It can be installed anywhere there is access to your wireless network. From a power perspective, once it runs out of battery, however, you will need to connect your cam to the charger (included) in the package. The charging cable comes with the Arlo charging pins on one side and the USB on the other side. The power outlet is not there. The major item that should be considered before purchasing this technology is that this camera does not include a memory space. All the security recording goes to the cloud and for accessing it you need to buy a subscription. Is good that if you already have the subscription, you would have to add the new device. The subscription adds a new layer of security features like the Arlo Secure emergency response. If you decide that the security plans are a big commitment for you, the camera will still serve you by detecting movement in the area and sending you notifications with an image that generated the detection. Enough to activate the direct view but not enough if you are trying to check a past alarm. If you are not sure about the commitment and the service, Arlo is including a 30-day trial period for their devices. I love the camera and serves my purposes but when you buy arlo camera you need to consider that the security plan is a must.

So far so good. There seems to be some pixilation @ 2k and even @ 1080p when viewing live streams - but overall this camera is rock solid. Ive been using arlo for quite some time and yes - there are pros and cons - but for me the pros out weigh the cons. Ive read tons of positive and negative reviews but just decided to buy it and see for myself. The setup was a cake walk and I could not have been happier. I do wish it wouldnt have forced an app upgrade - but hey - sometimes things change and you just have to roll with the changes. It was not cheap - but I was able to grab 1 on sale. Again - read the reviews - and decided to pull the trigger... no regrets at the moment

Arlo, my favorite home camera system. LOVE THESE Cameras but there are still features I wish they would improve. For instance. This camera is great that you can connect it to your home wifi without needing to be connected to a Arlo Base Station. BUT……… it has to be a 2.4 Ghz network. Seriously? Yes. Arlo, please make these work on 5Ghz. I had to re do one of my home networks to broadcast on 2 Ghz just so I could get it working. I spent maybe 30 min trying to get this connected the first time because I didn’t have a 2.4 Ghz network set up at home. Once I re configured my home network I was able to connect the camera to the Arlo app and was up and running. I have a 4K Ultra already connected to a base station for the font of the house. I added this 2K camera to the other side of the house and I can barely tell the difference in the video quality. These cameras are awesome. This one has a small spot light that lights when you want it to. This is nice for nighttime viewing or lighting a pathway when motion is sensed. Another area I wish Arlo would improve is make these wireless cameras work with the Apple HomeKit. ALL my other Arlos connect to the base station and through the base station I can connect them to my HomeKit and watch the cameras on my TV *through my AppleTV). But this stand alone camera is not compatible (at least not that I can find) with homekit since it doesn't’ go through the base station. So I really like that it doesn't have to be connected to a base station, this allows me to get it in different places in the home that only have wifi signal but might be further away from the base station. But I can’t view it on my TV through HomeKit like I can all my other arlo cameras. So you need to use the Arlo app on you mobile device to view the feed. I understand the two factor authentication but it is a bit annoying to have to use it so fifteen when logging in. Or when I log in a different device (say my iPad), I get logged out of my phone. Arlo, come on, please let us be on multiple devices especially if it wont work with Home Kit. Love the camera, and all the features. There are just a few ways I wish Arlo would make these even better.

Works well. Physically not dificult to owner install. Read the instructions and views videos for better results. Electronically came with 50% charge so you may want to charge after unpacking. Connection to wifi not bad, start with 2.4 GHZ wifi first to connect and then add 5GHZ wifi signal. Ensure strong wifi signal during setup and then install in final spot if necesary. Have patience and get support if needed. Overall good. Works as advertised. I recommend it.

I've been using the Arlo Cameras since 2016. But I recently upgraded all my Arlo Cameras to the Arlo Pro 5S. Initially I would have given the Arlo Pro 5S - 5 Stars but they seem to have more intermittent problems with all the Arlo Pro 5S camera going down at the same time, while the Arlo Video Doorbell and Floodlight are still working. I have a very good internet line and the new Arlo Pro Smart Hub does not seem to be the problem. Hopefully this intermittent problem will eventually go away

Heavy and solidly constructed for its small size, its been two days now and the battery is at 46%. Clear daytime picture with excellent zoom capabilities. Worthless in most nighttime situations because although it has pretty good night vision we can't figure out how to turn it off and if there is any type of light (i.e. a distant street light, home lamp post, porch light, etc. etc.) it blinds the picture and you can't make anything out. Although the instructions were straight forward it was very difficult to set up, mainly because it took hours of trying to get the camera to properly SEE the bar graph on my phone on their website as required. Most objectionably is that three quarters of its advanced features are only available if you subscribe to their monthly service for between five dollars a month and twenty dollars a month (the more expensive your monthly subscription the more features you get). Also it doesn't see through window screening very well, but then again only the better cameras are able to do that. And because of were the mount attaches, it cannot be stood up sturdily, thus it needs to be mounted by screwing in the mounts to a wall etc. etc. and then screwing in the camera to the mount, which is not ideal for a piece of equipment that has to be disconnected often and recharged. Hence it is a very Plain Jane camera for the expensive price with what you get without paying the extra monthly fee.

I have installed many Arlo cameras including Ultra 2 , Pro 4, and essential. All were very easy to add to my network and to HomeKit which I use extensively. I still cannot get the Pro 5S on HomeKit for some reason. This camera caused me to have to update the Arlo App which I’m sorry I did. The new app makes everything harder. I don’t really notice anything special about this camera. It’s not near as good as the Ultra 2 and only marginally better than the Essential. The 12X zoom is not worth the price. I have 12 Arlo cameras , 4 inside and 8 outside I absolutely love them. They were all easy to install and remotely operate but this camera is one I would avoid. If you cannot afford the Ultra 2 just get the essential they are still excellent cameras.

Not bad. The motion trigger is not as instantaneous as I was hoping for, but it works ok. I also wish the viewing area was a little broader, but overall I'm happy to be able to monitor our apartment parking area as my car was damaged by an unknown culprit before purchasing a camera to keep an eye on where I park my car.

The Arlo Pro 5S 2K solo cam is an excellent choice for your security needs. I already had an older Arlo system setup, so adding this camera to the existing eco system was fairly easy. If you're just starting out, you would need to download the Arlo app and create an account. After that, it's very straight forward. September of 2022, I had a two sport quads stolen out of my garage, so I've been looking for a solution for monitoring my garage which is detached from my house. The Arlo 5S Pro has excellent wireless range. I have this in my garage and it's about 60 feet from my WIFI router, and a brick wall is in between that. The camera has a excellent video quality. The light is also fairly bright. Not floodlight bright, but it will definitely illuminate the area enough to be able to see. Another benefit of the light is that it will help the camera switch out of night mode and go back into standard mode to help pick up more details of what may be happening, like possibly telling what color clothes the perpetrator is wearing. You can also select what zones in the viewing area are to be detecting. For example, you can have it so it will ignore a tree that constantly blows in the wind. It also has has some sort of AI. It will notify you if it detects an animal or person. There's not much to dislike about this camera, but I did find a few things I wish ware different. First, this camera uses a proprietary charging cord, which is included, but if you lose it, you'll have to buy a new one before you can recharge your camera. Also, all you get is the cord, no charging block. Another issue I have is that setting up geofencing in the app was not as simple as it was before. I had to update my app in order to add this camera. after the update, everything changed. I had to re-learn the app in order to use it. There is definitely a learning curve. Once you figure it out, it gets easier, but at first, it can be frustrating. I gave up on it at first because I didn't understand how to set up geofencing. It's not an obvious choice. Before you could just select the geofencing and setup your zone. Now you have to go into the app and it's barried in the "automation" area of the app. Even after you figure out where it's at, you still have to un-select a bunch of options to get it to work like the previous version of the app. For example, each mode has the other modes selected in the geofencing option. I had to go into each mode and de-select other other modes except the mode I was in to get it to work right. Seems like they over complicated it, or maybe it's just me. Once I figured everything out, I was happy with the overall performance of the camera. Likes: 1.) Great video and sound quality 2.) Light works surprisingly well for the size 3.) Wireless Dislikes: 1.) New app seems to complicate things 2.) Has to be hard mounted. My other Arlo camera's used a magnetic ball mount which I find much superior 3.) Proprietary charging cord, and the charge block is not included
