    Battery Life negates other really good features. Video quality is good. WiFi range good. Size and portability all good. Trouble is I have to replace battery every week, actually doesn’t make it through a week. Arlos response that “if you don’t have frequent notifications it lasts a long time” is silly. basically saying if you don’t use your camera, the battery is great

    GARBAGE!!! My previous system was a Sannce (wired) system. Had it for 8 years before NVR finally died. I'm alot older now and have health issues. Since I needed a new Home Security System, I needed something wireless, I just can't get up in my attic to run CAT cables all over the place and down the walls to my home office room so I checked into wireless systems. After alot of research and also trying a couple of different brands, I ended up trying Arlo Pro 5s 2k. I bought this system 3 days ago, since then nothing but a ton of problems. 1. Easy to setup= NO (sure, easy to put the battery into the camera, but the app instructions should tell you more detailed information, there's just too much gray area in regards to the instructions. Meaning I've never used a wireless system so I no Zero when it comes to what is what, etc...really need to make a setup app for dummies is what I need. 2. In the past hour alone I have experienced numerous issues, i.e., one camera spot light flickers like a beacon for a couple minutes and then stops (did this twice), random cameras randomly saying (offline, signed in by another device, unexpected error. When I google arlo information in regards to these problems, I've checked and doubled checked everything. Interesting thing though, I had these cameras for a couple of days until I received my VMB Smarthub 4540. Installed it today, paired the cameras, that's when it seems that these problems have really been frequent. 3. Battery life sucks! I'm sure they are ok if your video settings are on the lowest setting but even the default setting was way too grainy for me to see so I selected Best quality, by doing so, a battery last 24 to 30 hours (basically one day) depending on traffic. I have 6 cameras, each having different levels of traffice which affects battery life, I can't tell you how many times I've been in and out of my house to change this battery, few hours later, change a different camera battery, another few hours, change another battery. Also, one of my cameras battery was almost dead so I went and got a fresh battery (with a green light) off the charging station, put it in the camera, came back and it said error, I looked up the how to fix this problem and it said, put in a new battery...um...I just put in a new battery, swapped it out with another green light charged battery and it worked. Needless to say, with winter coming I'm not about to be in and out of 10 degree weather every few hours to change a freaking battery. As I mentioned, I don't have good health thanks to 2 combat tours in the Army and my age (did I mention I have a Rare lung disease, hence the reason I can't go in and out in cold weather. So I'm pretty sure these cameras are going back. I'll go back to Sannce and hire someone to install the cables. I could go on and on about all the problems in just 3 days time. During the 3 days I've contacted online support and chatted with someone who was ZERO help. I received a phone call the next day and that person was at least helpful (this was just to fix very minor technical/connecting issues after that, the last 2 days have been a nightmare. Just to add, the online support told me I didn't have fast enough upload speed needed for each cameras bandwidth...according to AI and Arlo, the Pro 5s 2k needs 2mbps for each camera of upload speed. As these problems are actually happening I did a speed test... 6 cameras means I need 12 mbps total...I have 32mpbs.

    This was an excellent option for an existing Arlo system. The location that it needed to be placed was outside of the range of the Arlington base station. Installed on a power pole with a solar charger, it was well within reach of the wireless mesh network.

    The Arlo app will not find these cameras so I haven't been able to get them setup and the green light batteries go orange before i can charge all 3 for a call to support regarding the inability to sync. The purchase has been tedious and frustrating out the box.

    Mine was defective after 3 days

    Purchase this 3 days ago from my Best buy. Camera was great I could connect without a hub to my Wi-Fi and everything worked great. App was a little wonky wouldn't let you scroll through videos you had to go out and then to the next video on Android. Was a little easier on iPhone where you could scroll. This morning received an error that the device was offline because of high temperature. At the time I received the error the temperature outside was 63°. I removed the camera and added it again and the same thing happened it kept recurring. Unfortunately I believe this was a defective unit and didn't want to go through the hassle of dealing with Arlo tech support so I just returned it to Best buy. Would have been great if it worked.

    6 months ago i purchased these cmaers and one had a failed seal on the lense. Figured it would be easy, but after multiple days if being oassed around to different support members all asking thensame questions my warranty claim eas declined due to "water ingress and high humidity". My outdoor camera was being used outdoors, who would have thought? And they declined my warranty for this....

    I'm a long time owner of Arlo products. I have over 15 cameras and spotlights around my home and cabin. I do pay for an Arlo Secure plan as I feel that provides the best value for what I need. The Pro 5S comes with an Arlo Secure trial to store the 2k cloud recordings. OK - so for the camera itself. Arlo came out with some nice features versus their previous generations. Features like: Dual Band Wi-Fi - so it can connect to both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz network for broader compatibility is to me the best new feature. Low Power Mode give up to 30% more battery life and Alro Secure Link gives you a more secure connection all around. The camera boasts 2K resolution/output and a 160 degree viewing area - providing a clear large field of vision. Many people ask if you need a SmartHub or Base Station - NOPE. You don't need those as this camera can connect directly to your Wi-Fi Router! That's a nice bonus. You do get some minor benefits using a SmartHub (optimized Wi-Fi traffic, slightly better battery life,etc) but it's not required. Color night vision happens with the built in spotlight - see attached pictures. A built in siren can be configured to startle and scare visitors or animals. The only minor issue I had as that it forced me to upgrade my phone app when adding this camera to my existing SmartHub system. That caused me a little confusion, as the new app does things a bit different - but nothing that you can't work through. Overall, this is a solid camera with large crisp images to capture the scenes that matter to you most!

    Arlo Helps Me Stay in The Know Around My House!!!

    My home is my biggest investment and where my family and I take refuge in a busy crazy world....It blows my mind that there are people in this day and age that do not have cameras that allow them to keep an eye on their home! We have Arlo cameras both inside and outside.  The cameras are in the living room and hallways to make sure to catch any would be intruders on video.  It is also super useful if my alarm goes off for any reason or if I can't recall if I shut the garage door... within seconds I have eyes on the inside and outside of my home!  I also love knowing who's driving by my house, If packages have been delivered or what wild animals have traversed my lawn and driveway in the middle of the night!  So handy!!!  PLus the huge deterrent to porch pirates and burglars!!! Having said all that, you can bet I have done my homework and there is no one doing it better than Arlo. I have 6 Arlo cameras plus the doorbell but this is my first pro series.  I was pretty excited to get my hands on the PRO 5S 2K and compare it to the essential and essential XL's I have.  The first thing I noticed was the Magnet charger system and that the battery in the Pro is removable and you can buy a battery charger and have batteries on standby.  I like that.  The new Pro5S 2K can hot-swap the batteries and keep it in the game.  If you don't hot swap the batteries you will need to charge for a while before putting the camera back up.  If you place the camera outside the solar panel is a must must-have.  Two of my other Arlo cameras that are outside have the panels and it's so awesome.  They are 100 percent charged and I never have to mess with them.  And they have held up through wicked cold winters and scorching summer days not to mention rain, wind and snow! Back to the Pro 5S... The first thing I noticed about the Pro 5S 2K is the crystal clear picture and color night vision is awesome!  Two-way communication, spot light and siren... really allows me to reach and stay connected to my house in a very practical and useful way! It connects fast with my mesh wifi.  The peace of mind and comfort of knowing I am informed of what is happening at my house at all times is priceless.   So talking about being informed... the APP.  At first, I was was a little upset that it forced me to upgrade my app once I installed the Pro 5S 2K.  If I was building my system from scratch I would have never known any different and would have been wowed by the ease and friendly intuitive interface that the Arlo app has.  But I was not building from scratch.  I had multiple cameras and had all the preferences set up and routines and it was all gone with the upgrade.  So after a day or two of reassigning all the preferences and getting to know the new interface and the changes from the old app to the new...My frustration eased into an honest appreciation of the work that Arlo put into it.  It's a really amazing app that really enhances the product and brings out the usefulness of the amazing optics and AI that alerts you to people or vehicles or animals that the camera catches.  It emails me a screen grab and an alert to my email.  Very cool and useful...At a quick glance of my phone, I can decide to pull up the cam or not based on the email alert!  You can also set up a text alert if you want.  You can also set the sensitivity of the motion as well so you don't get too many alerts!   Overall, Arlo makes a great product that works!!!  Solid builds and even more importantly an awesome app that delivers the info and peace of mind knowing that My house and loved ones are safe...and my packages too!! You cannot go wrong and in this day and age....YOU NEED THIS PRODUCT!
