    ARLO Pro 5S 2K Indoor/Outdoor Camera

I really like the Arlo Pro 5S 2K indoor/outdoor camera. It was a bit confusing to setup because there were no instructions in the box. You have to go online to get any info on the security camera. Once I figured out how to open the camera, and then where the battery was inserted, the rest was pretty easy to setup and start using. I like the compact size. Especially the hard case that clearly will withstand “weather” when permanently attached outside of the home. I haven’t used enough to determine “how long” the fully-charged battery will last, but I suspect it will be sufficient. I like the fact that the camera is completely wireless … power and wifi connection. Having only the one camera device, I don’t know how effect the entire “system” would be nor how responsive the subscription monitoring system is. I have a complete security system by another vendor and earlier this year it/they were able to catch a Thief “in the act” of breaking in. The police were immediately dispatched, but the Thief was able to quickly exit the house/window before the Police’s arrival. However, the system was able to capture an excellent photo of the guy which helped the Police with their investigation. Again, I like the ARLO, but I would like to get a few more “components” to make a complete security “system” and then test out the results.

Love everything about my camera and their solar panels. The security I feel at night is amazing. I can sleep more securely now not worrying about strange noises. I can see what is going on with grandchildren right away instead waiting to get to a window. The narrative it gives can be so helpful. Not much I don’t like thank you Arlo for a better piece of mind.

    Arlo 5s Pro

So far so good. There seems to be some pixilation @ 2k and even @ 1080p when viewing live streams - but overall this camera is rock solid. Ive been using arlo for quite some time and yes - there are pros and cons - but for me the pros out weigh the cons. Ive read tons of positive and negative reviews but just decided to buy it and see for myself. The setup was a cake walk and I could not have been happier. I do wish it wouldnt have forced an app upgrade - but hey - sometimes things change and you just have to roll with the changes. It was not cheap - but I was able to grab 1 on sale. Again - read the reviews - and decided to pull the trigger... no regrets at the moment

So far I love the battery life and the ease of changing out the batteries. I started using Arlo Essential camera which was good but what a difference with the Pro 5s 2K. I love the clarity.

Perfect addition to my 2 indoor Arlo cameras. I've had a couple indoor cameras for a few years and was hoping this would integrate with them even though this one is much newer. It went flawlessly but I did have to update the app I was using. Quickly added the new camera and now I can control all 3 together on the same app. Set up was fast and easy. So happy about that. Love the spotlight on it. Definitely bright enough to light up the area when it detects something. I'll be using this outdoors to protect our back deck and watch the critters that come visit us at night. Much better video quality than the typical trail cam. Seems pretty good so far at not noticing leaves blowing around but saw a coyote and our regular possum friend stop by the other night. The weather hasn't been cooperative enough here lately for me to get outside and permanently mount it but it looks very easy to do so and I'm looking forward to getting that done. Very happy with this so far and extra happy that 1 app controls all my Arlo cameras. I'll be picking up another of these soon to keep an eye on our front yard as well.

I got this camera to add to my existing Arlo system at our mountain property. I first initiated it into service at our Arlo system at my home. Yes we have two Arlo systems, and they’ve been great up to this point. Initial unboxing, activating, and updating firmware went smoothly. When adding the Pro 5s to our existing system, the Arlo Secure app told me it needed to be updated before I could add the 5s. I didn’t know there was an updated app, so I updated it then got a message that our Arlo doorbell camera does not yet have firmware supported by the new app, so I cannot add a schedule for my doorbell camera. I can turn the doorbell camera on and off, see what’s going on out there, but it will not record anything. I checked the Arlo website and saw an “end of life” notice, so apparently its on its way out even though its only a couple of years old. Guess I’ll have to buy a new one so that blows. On the plus side, I like the layout of the new app and it adds new functionality that I did not know existed. I’ll need to spend more time with the app to get familiar with the various new options. On the minus side, its not nearly as intuitive or easy to setup on/off schedules for your cameras as the old app was. Also, once I updated to the new app my previously set System On/Off settings disappeared. They are scheduled to turn on in the evenings thru the morning, and I updated the app around 4pm so I started getting alerts immediately of cars driving by, my kids outside, etc. So I had to shut it all down and setup my schedules again, both at my home and our mountain property which was rather irritating. Regarding my review of the 5s camera, its very nice, the video/audio is great. But overall I do not like the new system. The arming/disarming away/home modes are different and do not work the same as they did before. The problem is that I have two different properties in my Arlo app with two different base stations but as far as I can tell there is no way to separate the two. The system is not intuitive at all. What I’m trying to do is arm our vacation home 24 hours a day and only have my main home security on during the evening hours, which was very easy to do using the previous app. With the new app, as far as I can tell you either can arm everything or nothing, you cannot separate the two. I’ve read all the literature and maybe I’m missing something, but its very frustrating and I have not been able to figure it out so security at BOTH of our properties is not in effect. Also, I no longer get consistent app alert notifications. Prior to the new app I would get notification alerts every time one of my camera’s motion detection was triggered and a recording made. With the new app, I was getting no notifications so I wasn’t sure if it was even working properly. Then I finally got an alert notification at our vacation home so I pulled up the app and there were 34 recordings by one camera (yet only one notification??). I looked at the recordings, there was no movement on any of the recordings. Sometimes when the wind blows at that property the large trees will sway and trigger the motion detection, but it was a calm day, the trees weren’t moving at all. So again, I don’t know what’s going on since getting the new app. To sum up, the 5s camera is nice, the new Arlo app is not user-friendly and confusing, I can’t tell if the system is working or not, and my doorbell camera can no longer record. Arlo, please make this process easier or I cannot recommend this system.

I have had Ring and Arlo. Arlo’s picture and app was better. But since a recent update (few months ago) it has been nothing but a hassle. It constantly struggles to load the feed, especially at night. I’ve started getting warning symbols of issues that aren’t actually there. The most recent, base station went down. So I tried to connect all of my pro cameras directly to the internet. Only half of them would. So I bought some more and once again another night of the feed not loading and error symbols.

I've been using the Arlo Cameras since 2016. But I recently upgraded all my Arlo Cameras to the Arlo Pro 5S. Initially I would have given the Arlo Pro 5S - 5 Stars but they seem to have more intermittent problems with all the Arlo Pro 5S camera going down at the same time, while the Arlo Video Doorbell and Floodlight are still working. I have a very good internet line and the new Arlo Pro Smart Hub does not seem to be the problem. Hopefully this intermittent problem will eventually go away

Works well. Physically not dificult to owner install. Read the instructions and views videos for better results. Electronically came with 50% charge so you may want to charge after unpacking. Connection to wifi not bad, start with 2.4 GHZ wifi first to connect and then add 5GHZ wifi signal. Ensure strong wifi signal during setup and then install in final spot if necesary. Have patience and get support if needed. Overall good. Works as advertised. I recommend it.

Pro 5S too hard to install

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have installed many Arlo cameras including Ultra 2 , Pro 4, and essential. All were very easy to add to my network and to HomeKit which I use extensively. I still cannot get the Pro 5S on HomeKit for some reason. This camera caused me to have to update the Arlo App which I’m sorry I did. The new app makes everything harder. I don’t really notice anything special about this camera. It’s not near as good as the Ultra 2 and only marginally better than the Essential. The 12X zoom is not worth the price. I have 12 Arlo cameras , 4 inside and 8 outside I absolutely love them. They were all easy to install and remotely operate but this camera is one I would avoid. If you cannot afford the Ultra 2 just get the essential they are still excellent cameras.

This camera works well and on par along with all my other Arlo cameras however the battery life is a bunch worse than even my old pro 2's. Barely over a week in the rural backyard with minimal motion detections but with tons of audio ones.

Not bad. The motion trigger is not as instantaneous as I was hoping for, but it works ok. I also wish the viewing area was a little broader, but overall I'm happy to be able to monitor our apartment parking area as my car was damaged by an unknown culprit before purchasing a camera to keep an eye on where I park my car.
