My reason for 4 stars is bc the time frame is never right for some reason but it does what it say I have mine in the living room so I can see who comes and goes in my home as long with watching my grand kids at night sneak to the kitchen lol as they think there sneaky things upstairs I catch them all the time it’s funny bc there clueless there’s a camera watching them price wize for one camera I think is a little to much but not having to pay a monthly bill is everything and u can add more features for just two dollars and 99 cents how good is that

Setup was easy although I had to rest camera once. Picture quality is great. But I’m not convinced all motion is being picked up, especially around the perimeter.

Own a few of these. They work exactly as promised, quality video image and reliable connection. I've only ever had one stop working and Arlo replaced it no problem.

The Arlo Q is a reliable 1080p HD indoor security camera retailing for $220. It comes with many great features such as motion detection, sound alerts, two-way talk, night vision, activity zones and free 7-day cloud storage. It doesn't have a 360-degree view and it isn't rated for outdoor use. I wish the Arlo Q had the ability to connect via Ethernet and hopefully they will add that feature in the next one because I seriously think it will make the Arlo stand out from the competition. It can be used for baby monitoring, pet monitoring, business security, and elderly parents. Arlo Q records video only when there's motion, but you can also get continuous recording starting at $10 a month for one camera. It’s got a built in mic and speaker, it receives instant alerts if motion or noise is detected. You can set alarms based on noise levels and email alerts are quick enough and quite accurate. -Specifications The dimensions are 2.75 (H) x 2.80 (W) x 4.50 (D) and it weighs 0.37lbs. The Arlo Q supports up to 1080p 30fps video recording (depending on bandwidth availability). I have mine set at 720p so it doesn’t overload my router since I have 7 other devices connected to my router. It has a 4MP sensor resolution with an 8x digital zoom. It supports both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz band N600 Wi-Fi. It’s got an integrated speaker and microphone for 2-way audio and has a 130 degree field-of-view. -Setup Setting up Arlo Q is super easy. If you are on your phone, download the Arlo app on your Android or iOS device and follow the step-by-step instructions to get started. The Arlo app is well design and is user friendly. If you are on a desktop, simple log in to the Arlo’s website and follow the instructions there. Hardware-wise, the Arlo Q is larger and lighter and doesn't feel quite as durable as Nest Cam. It also isn't as easy to maneuver and angle. -Conclusion In conclusion, the Arlo Q is an excellent indoor camera and I strongly recommend it. It offers great image/video quality and is reliable. There’s a five second delay with live streaming but other than that it’s a pretty solid security camera. I would look to thank Netgear for sending me the Arlo Q as part of the Friends and Family program.

Overall, I think the camera is pretty decent. The picture quality is good. My biggest issue is that it doesn't always detect me when I walk more than 15 feet from the camera.

This is the best wireless camera. It has clear picture since it does 1080 video recording. Must be plugged it but quality is excellent. I have this camera paired with my Arlo pro setup and they work great.

Have been using two ArloQ’s for two years and hasnt encountered any problem. Got this 3rd to replace my Arlo Wireless (1st gen) after I realize it cost me a lot to buy batteries every three months.

Setup was easy and the camera works great. Installed at a remote location where it is inconvenient to change batteries at certain times of the year - since this is powered directly there is no worry about that any longer.

Luckily, I found Wyze cams before setting up my Arlo purchases. Wyze is still limited in offerings, but at 1/5 the cost, it's a no-brainer. Plus they give you 14 days free cloud and you can store locally on a 32GB SD. Since Arlo is no longer Netgear, I'm also concerned that they aren't going to be around long, especially at the extremely high prices they try to get.

It's a pretty wide range and clear. My dogs can hear me. There is a slight delay. Haven't figured out yet everything as I hate reading directions. Otherwise, so far I'd recommend it and my daughter may be getting one soon.

This is THE "smart camera" to purchase

I’ve had quite a few different IP/Security Cameras from various vendors like D-Link, Foscam, Insteon, etc. going back to my first IP based wifi camera that was an 802.11b DCS1000W from D-Link. The early cameras were for geeks only (like me) and required knowledge of networking protocols like port forwarding and more to get the most out of these first and second generation cameras. IP Cameras are now an integral part of Home Security and the field of DIY Security Camera players has grown considerably. Netgear asked me to take a look at their newest camera, the Arlo Q indoor camera, and provided me with a review sample for this purpose. The TL; DR version of this review is “this is the camera to get”. I’m posting this review, because I’m going to be sending my friends and neighbors to BestBuy to buy this device when they ask me “I’m setting up my DIY Smarthome and I need an IP camera”. Like some of the current crop of cameras, the Arlo Q offers 1080p HD streaming, audio and video motion sensing/alerts, but unlike the other contenders for this market, Arlo Q offers FREE event based 7 day cloud video storage (you can buy more and even set up continuous video recording, but 7 days revolving storage for FREE sets it apart from the others). Plan details are at https://community.netgear.com/t5/Arlo-Knowledge-Base/What-are-the-available-Arlo-subscription-plans-and-how-much/ta-p/88 (my opinion is that the Basic Free Plan is great and should be enough for most folks). Arlo Q can be set up with an iOS or Android app, as well as a browser based app. I used my iPhone and it was quick and simple to set up an account as a new user. This is the first IP camera I’ve used that supports both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi bands. The camera is a 802.11n device, and I configured it to use the 2.4GHz band even though I have a dual band Netgear Nighthawk 802.11ac router that supports both 2.4 and 5GHz. The iPhone app automatically filled in the SSID that my iPhone was connected to, which was a 5GHz 802.11ac band, but since I wanted to test with 2.4GHz, I had to supply the name of that network (no pick list is available, but that won’t be a problem for most people – I just specifically wanted to test on a slower connection to see worst case performance). Unlike the other cameras of this type, Arlo Q also has user configurable “activity zones” that let you customize three locations that will trigger alerts. It was easy to configure these by dragging the zone around visually on my iPhone. This camera supports two-way audio, so if you’re in another room or miles away, you can kick the dog off the sofa. Alerts arrive by e-mail nearly instantly. There’s a scheduler that allows you full control of arming/disarming the triggered detection recordings and alerts, or you can leave armed/disarmed. Usage will depend on camera location and the kind of traffic you expect and when you expect it. The video quality is superb. There was hardly any lag on the 2.4GHz connection using Live view. While there’s no PTZ (pan and tilt) the field of view is very very wide and gives more than enough coverage (and this avoids the device being much heavier). You can add “friends” to your Arlo account per the user guide “Friends can view live streams from your cameras, record video clips, view, share, mark as favorite, and delete clips from your library, and take snapshots. Friends can be granted limited access to some of the settings and features on your Arlo account. You can select which cameras friends can see (if you have multiple cameras) and what administrative rights are available to them“ so you don’t need to share your credentials will your kids but you can let them access features. There are multiple ways to actually mount the camera, including a magnetic base for metal surfaces (the mag mount is strong). A nice long power cord (really a long USB adapter and wall wart plug with USB slot) is included. There’s also a wall mount and mounting screws, etc. included in the box, so there’s lots of flexibility. I really like Arlo Q and highly recommend it.
