Bought this to use indoors. I have no other cameras. Tried to get it to work for about a week, even posting questions to the Arlo community on-line. Nothing. I go through the activation process and everything looks right, but then the camera is not found. Tried re-naming my network (since no special characters or even spaces are allowed), re-setting the camera (multiple times), logging in to an Arlo account (even though the app brought me to the camera set-up w/o creating an account first). Even tried it on both my phone and my desktop. Same result. Cannot recommend. Am going to have to bring it back.

The main problem with this camera is the extremely weak wifi connection. It won't connect in the same location that the Arlo plus cameras do. In fact, I couldn't get a decent/useable wifi signal anywhere in my tiny house (715 sq feet). I returned the camera. Two stars for nice packaging.

I purchased a handful of these cameras in the hope of starting to implement some home video solution. Setup of the cameras are fairly difficult which eventually caused me to call into to Arlo support. Support technicians told us we needed to use a desktop/laptop to configure the cameras. I thought this was absurd but went with what they said and eventually got our cameras working. Video streaming is laggy, choppy or sometimes not even available. The ability to zoom, fast forward and/or rewind video is finicky and overall just a frustration to use. Unless you pay of their cloud dvr service then what comes with the cameras is not very useful. Ultimately we returned all of the cameras.

    Great straightforward security system

Overall: Great simple straightforward security system that just works First thing to mention is the cost. While the camera is a little pricey on the initial purchase, the free cloud service they provide is more than adequate unlike alot of other competitors I've researched where to get any useful history functionality, you have to pay a monthly fee for a subscription. This camera comes with a free cloud database upto the previous 7 days of recordings. You can upgrade the service for a monthly fee to store upto 30 days or 60 days, but for most users like myself, 7 days is enough storage especially since this camera sends push notifications to your phone whenever it senses motion or sound you'll know you have a potential intruder right away. Setup: very easy, my parents could do this without my help. plug it in, pair it to your iphone or android app, it auto updates its own firmware, and your ready to go. Features: all the essentials are there. Motion, sound detection triggers to set custom recording lengths. custom sensor areas you can define to block out portions of the scene such as where your pets may be wandering around. 2-way microphone is also part of the system. The only feature I wish it had would be a siren button where if I saw an intruder, it would sound a loud decibel siren that's battery backed to scare away any intruders. Performance: The camera to cloud to phone delay is about 3-5 seconds, so what you see on your phone app is going to be somewhat lagged. The camera is recording to the cloud so you can always go back and review what is going on. The data stored to the cloud moves at the speed of broadband, the data may take a little while to show up on your phone app. The product met and exceeded my expectations of a basic home security camera. It has all the features and the biggest selling point was the free cloud subscription without the nickel and dime monthly subscription fee that other cameras utilize to get full functionality. I would recommend this camera to anyone looking for a easy to use and setup home security camera that'd dependable. I did receive this product for free in exchange for my unbiased review.

I really wish this camera would have worked. I already have a three camera Arlo set up and wanted this to be able to move around in my house. I could only get it to work correctly when it was right next to my router. If I moved it, it wouldn't work correctly.

I should have bought the wireless camera instead. Actually I should have bought the Blink system from Amazon. It is a better system for cheaper and more features.
