Its OK, but Im a bit dissapointed

First I got the Arlo Pro and Loved it. I ended up getting 4 more. Then I have a location perfect for an Arlo Q. Indoors, dry, by a power outlet, PERFECT for a Q instead of a Arlo Pro. Right? Wrong. Well, So much is different about these Q cameras, from the Arlo Pros that I grew to love. First the motion sensing is different. Its video based vs a "IR motion detector". What this means is, its visual motion on the screen that triggers the camera and not the physical presence of some object. At first I thought this was good because you can make zones and do other things. However, the reality is, it does not pick up a human body right in front of it making medium motion. Unfortunately, It WILL however, pick up a tiny moth or any other flying insect that may have gotten in your garage and wants to fly at the small light the camera is giving off. Of course the tiny moth flying an inch from the camera takes up half of your screen and the camera takes that as significant motion and alerts you. Second, This camera is wired and should be one of the most reliable in your Arlo system. However, many times when I go to access it, its very slow to start and the stream is way choppier than any of my Arlo Pros. (and this is the closest camera to the router) As a conclusion, Id have to say you are much better off getting an Arlo Pro for nearly the same money and just running a power cord to it. For a couple more bucks you get a more reliable weatherproof, camera with a battery back up. The ONLY thing the Q has over a Pro is 1080p which is worthless since it chops at that size/speed, and zoned/video motion sensing (which does not seem to work well at all). I really wanted this camera to be as great at the other Arlo Products I have, and while I am not returning it, I'm definitely disappointed by it and not recommending it.

This is a good surveillance camera and a great compliment to the Arlo Smart Home Indoor/Outdoor Wireless High-Definition Security Cameras. My only issue is the audio, it's low and has a very noticeable delay.

This is the one to get. Don’t get the battery version if you have a lot of motion detected, it will use up too much battery and you will find yourself replacing them every week.

Works as advertised. Installation easily accomplished in 10 minutes. The free IClound storage and retrieval is the big winner here that puts it above the competition. Would buy again.

This was the best bang for the buck I could find. I love the fact it is easy to expand your system and add more Arlo products as needed.

    Motion detection issues

I have 2 cameras at home: Arlo Q, and Nest. I definitely prefer Nest for the following reasons. Arlo Q has issues with correctly detecting motion. I am an engineer and even after 2 weeks of trying different things it can not reliably detect motion. Exactly the same motion was detected by NEST with no issues. The 2-nd thumbs down for Arlo is that even though you get free Cloud storage, the footage is recorded in clips (up to 120 seconds), and watching it later on is very inconvenient, since you have to keep opening and closing clips. The only way to get continuous recording is with paid subscription. NEST allows you to do continuous recording without subscription. I find settings in Arlo Q confusing and not user friendly compared to NEST. I am keeping NEST and returning Arlo.

My husband and I love these cameras. We use them for our kids rooms as monitors and they work so well. The best part is that we can put them up in other areas when we don't need them in the kids rooms anymore. Most baby monitor cameras aren't this versatile.

Easy setup, but buffering a lot, in the settings the speaker is a 100% but you need to be next to the camera if you want to hear. Hear and talk is supposed to be only difference between this and the regular camera.

I don't recommend this product at all. I paid $100 for endless live footage that doesn't work. Today someone tried to break in my house. On play back of the footage it's frozen and glitchy and I couldn't see anything. After talking to Arlo support they told me they're aware of the problem with the endless recording. Really? Very disappointed with this product. I'm requesting a refund from Arlo, hopefully Best Buy will refund me my money on the cameras since it's been more than 30 days.

Very easy to setup, and easy to manage. The ability to communicate with the kids through the two way audio is great. After a recent update, these are now compatible with the Samsung's SmartThings hub, giving me even more flexibility. Very nice and fun system and camera.

This isn't a bad camera...when it works. I've been through 3 of these...all with the same problem. Sometimes they connect...sometimes they don't, and they almost always quit sometime after starting them- usually about 1/2 hour into recording. I'm guessing that they get too hot, because they won't restart after they quit working. Whatever...I can NEVER rely on them to start when I want them to or finish a complete recording.

Camera stopped working & customer support nightmar

I loved this camera until it stopped working around 8 months after purchase. Then I discovered the absolute nightmare that is Arlo customer support. Live chat is free if the website is working (which it is usually not), you have to pay to talk to anyone on the phone, they will spend most of the time trying to frustrate you into giving up on the whole process, and then when they finally agree that the camera is broken and covered for replacement under the 1-year warranty they'll try to get out of it by sending you incomplete return information and trying to close the case as inactive while you struggle to complete their process with your hands tied. I'm still trying to get this sorted out and have wasted HOURS of my life....NOT WORTH IT. Get a different camera from a different company.

    Not What I Expected

I've heard great things about the Arlo Q and how it can be used in conjunction with other tools and products but I didn't even have luck setting up this little camera. The second problem was that it isn't operable, meaning I cannot control what the camera sees from an app. I was able to find another product that suits my needs that was a lot less expensive. If you know how to set this all up, I'm sure it's a great product. I just didn't have quite the response that I was expecting.

Loved it when I first got it. Went on trip and tried to check the camera at airport, it wouldn't connect. Got me worried whole trip and came back to find the camera hanging on firmware update. Wait 2 days, same slashing lights, contact customer service, they kept having me power cycle/reset the camera. It's been 4 days back and forth with customer service. The problem is still not resolved. It's terrible. Even if it's fixed, I don't know if I could trust this camera.
