I do not recommend refurbished cameras

I regret purchasing this refurbished defective camera as an add-on to my current system, it records everything with a red hue unlike the other 'new' cameras on my system. The protection plan will only replace it with another refurbished camera that I don't want, therefore I will be returning this one and replacing it with a new camera.

This system is terrible. The base constantly goes offline and some of the cameras views turn pink. Overall not a great system.

Good totally wire free camera system

The idea of this camera system is awesome and the implementation is good. These cameras are easy to set up. However, they are slower to detect motion and start recording than I like and I have fast Internet. The video looks good. The IR light for night time recording is not invisible, they have a slight red glow. They have now added IFTTT support and geo-fencing is in beta.

    Netgear Arlo Camera

I have researched wired and wireless security cameras for the last year. Until I found the Wireless Netgear Arlo and it had all the features I wanted. It was very easy set up. Deciding the placement of the cameras was probably the most difficult. Then adjusting the position of the camera itself. The places I wanted to put the cameras did not have power outlets nearby, so the wireless was my best solution. I positioned all of our cameras inside the house, but they are weather proof and can be outdoors.

Fast shipping to the store, very easy setup and installation. Very easy to operate and the battery life seems to be good so far. Best of all no wiring. System has been installed in my vaction home in florida and can keep an eye on things with landscaper and pool cleaners. Instant notifications to my phone of any activity.

I have tried more than one type of security camera and system over the years. Most seemed to be "buggy", difficult to install, and remote access problematic. This product is the "real deal". Plug it in and your up and running. They sell a 2 camera set at a lower price point. Great way to get started.

Got robbed - Arlo didnt record

I have had these cameras for 2 months now. On Saturday i was robbed and Arlo didn't record a second of it. These cameras do not pick up motion unless it is incredibly close to the sensor. The worst part of this system is honestly the customer service. I was on the phone last night with Arlo for 2 hours where someone with poor English tried to test my camera. After 2 hours they agreed the camera was faulty, and agreed to a replacement camera. Guess what, they will only send a camera when YOU the buyer ships the defective camera to their warehouse, and YOU PAY the shipping cost. Only after this they will contemplate whether to send a replacement. Save your money and go with a better system. This is the first review i have ever written, but wanted to raise this in case Arlo sees this / to save other buyers the trouble. I am stuck with a faulty camera and my property stolen.

    Don't buy it

I bought this, installed it following manual that was shipped with it. Was very easy to pair up and get everything up. The problem, the basestation was in my basement on top of my desk, 30-40 feet from the furthest camera outside my garage. I put cameras outside my garage, front door, and back door. All cameras were 20% battery by the next morning. I moved the basestation upstairs and that helped. I bought rechargable batteries (which die quickly as well) to support this and signed up for the ARLO Premier service. Hopefully to stop from getting alerted for my dog out back. This didn't help and the zones didn't keep saved in the cameras. I have not been alerted to my truck pulling into the driveway and walking in and then other times I get alerted to reflections on the truck of a car going by. I have had this system a week now and it is going back to best buy tomorrow as I find it completely unreliable. If you want it for indoors, this might work well within 20feet of the base. If you want it for outside your home, call a local installer. This is trash. And the support is non-existent. Try to find a number to call on their website!

    Caveat emptor

    Posted .

Buyer beware! First year of having this system was ok, occasional connection issues but nothing major. Then, what seemed to be days after the warranty ran out, they send a software update which you have no choice but to install. One by one, as my cameras run out of juice and I replaced the batteries, they won't go back online. I have been nothing but patient with Netgear customer support. They have replaced my cameras numerous times and I have spent hours with them over the phone and via email over the last couple of months. No one can fix the problem, they just keep passing the buck and telling me to restart my system. When I ran out of patience and asked for a replacement system or my money back, they disappeared. In time this system will cause you major grief. It's basically a $400 paper weight. STAY AWAY DO NOT BUY.

The batteries shipped with this refurbished item are not rechargeable and last only 2 weeks. If I would have bought a new unit it comes with Tenergy rechargeable batteries. I had to replace with Teneergy which cost $30. There was no cost save buying the refurbished unit in the end!

    Awful Product

Came with dead 3v lithium batteries. After I scored (expensive) replacements and powered it on, I learned it only works with the expensive Arlo base unit. After I bought that too, I learned this camera doesn't have a mic and speaker so it can't use the two way comms that I bought it for. Awful product.

    Horrible experience with the referb

I ordered a referbed unit. Got it in 2 days like I expected. When I tried to access the base, it wouldn't let me because the serial number was still registered to someone else's account. After 3, hour and a half phone calls. I've gotten no where. I promptly returned the system to the store. I asked if I could exchange for a new unit for my troubles and of course was denied. Purchasing the referbed unit is definitely not worth the headache.
