In all these work pretty great. We switched from another brand after it kept having issues detecting activity. These do far better and are aboyt as good quality as you can get for a security camera system. However the range and motion detection still isnt the best. The Arlo pro 4 thst my friebds use detect everytjhing much further out with no issues. Thry actually complain they are too sensitive with adjusting which we were hoping for with these. Im not sure if something with higher quality image effects it but these definitely have issues detecting various things once you start reaching 15ft and further. Not amaays yhough which suggests maube a software uodate flild resolve and maybe increase detection capabilities.

Initially the battery charge didn't last long, but I adjusted the settings based on their troubleshooting. I went from a charge lasting 2-3 days to 2-3 weeks. The free subscription ran out and the bells & whistles disappeared as I expected and as they said they would. Since I didn't need them, I was fine. My complaint and the reason I regret getting it comes from the fact that it continues to downgrade. Most recently the batteries all lost their charges and now only charge to 20%. I'm back to having to replace batteries every other day. At six months in, I wonder if they'll even be usable through the next six. Another issue that's cropped up is that the camera signal quality goes up and down dramatically without anything being moved. The camera responce has been poor from the first day. My exterior lighting, which is activated by motion, activates about 3-4 seconds before the cameras. This results in the videos only capturing the tail end of any movement. The camera quality is good, but based on what's been happening, I wonder how long it will last. They were very easy to install. Set up was very easy. One of the cameras I installed where it's exposed to direct Florida sun and heavy rains. It still performs as well as the ones not exposed. That very much impressed me. I When speaking to someone, there's about a 7 second delay on both ends. It's made even the simplest conversation nearly impossible. It can be done though. The app is easy to navigate, but inconsistent and unreliable.

Good solid product but has its flaws. The Ultra 2 has the best video and sound by far then other models I own (i.e. pros, pros 2, and Pro 4s with the exception of my indoor Arlo Qs that have the same exceptional video and sound ). The Ultra 2's have much better night vision, much louder onboard speaker, and farther and loader onboard microphone. Major negative - in 4K mode, they must be placed within 20 yards (non-line of site) from the hub. They are not reliable if not. I wish Arlo would increase the signal output to be able to reach farther out. Battery life is ok but you will grow very tired of replacing batteries especially if you have to get a ladder out. Highly recommend a truly wireless / powerless system by purchasing the solar panels. My Ring cameras have their advantages and disadvantages as well. To get the perfect indoor and outdoor security video system, you need a combination of both Ring and Arlo. Much more convenient and easy to install than traditional wired cameras, however, when you local wifi or internet goes down, so does your cameras.

The setup was easy the picture is great but the battery that's suppose to last months last mere days by my front door. We get people walking by but days? Not even close to what's advertised. If I payed for the monthly 24/7 survalince I'd have to replace battery daily I'm sure. Good for a low traffic area I suppose but not for an active family like mine. Probably return and go with the cheaperhardwired model. Besides that the motion sensor light can't be turned off and it should have a timer available for the motion sensor mode but does not. Disappointed whith the software and battery life.

I got these cameras to replace my SimpliSafe cameras, since Arlo can connect to 2.4 and 5ghz. So far so good. The cameras place inside the house have zero issues. Once the camera is outside, however, even if it’s less than 20ft away from the base station, has connection issues a lot. My only complaint. Picture quality is excellent though.

Better then my blink but for the price should be way better. I position all outdoor cameras in same area for Arlo and blink and huge difference in camera quality. Arlo hands down winner. Price wise rather get a guard dog. Cameras are not going to protect you lol. Bum speaker for talking too low. Night vision moderate at best. Spot Light good but annoying. Cant sit on my porch anymore annoying. Battery life awful unless you don’t actually want to see everything that passes or comes by your house. Busy street so unless you are in an area with a lot of sun not Upstate New York. (Solar power good way to go Buy extra batteries and hope you dont need a 28 inch ladder to climb up to change batteries every 2 days no exaggeration. If you cant plug in your in for unwanted excercise. Unless your camera’s are in arms reach. Also connection to app and cameras sucks had to buy super expensive Orbi mesh system. Might as well get cctv for the price. Bottom line poor investment. But if you are already stuck like me past buyers remorse then go for broke.

Upgraded from gen 2 Arlo 1080P camers and OMG the clarity is amazing. You also get options to set field of view up to 180 degrees, but youll get some fisheye. I am disappointed it doesnt come with a micro SD card considering the cost. You'll have to pay for Cloud recording service without one. The system was plug and play and works with the phone app immediately when connected and i was able to connect the older camera as well. There are some other features such as recording activity zones and the ability to only record animals or people or packages. You van also live stream in 4k, bit for only 2 cameras at a time. There is an auto track feature that zooms in on what you designate, but this also requires giving up 4k resolution. All in all, I've been happy with the hardware and app and haven't had any issues. Will consider the subsvription fee if the micro sd option doesnt work well.

Good System with Some Positives and Some Negatives

Bought a few of these bundles from Best Buy to install a whole-house video security/surveillance system. Positives: Wireless Cameras, 4k Video (decent quality), Security/Anti-Theft Mounts, Quick Charge Batteries, Nice design, and even comes with a bonus yard sign. Negatives: It would be better if the cameras could connect to wi-fi directly, rather than requiring an Arlo hub. The set-up is not seamless (some cameras struggled to connect to the hubs, despite multiple attempts). Once it's done, it works well. Without a doubt, the success of the entire system depends very heavily on the quality and speed of the wi-fi signal. If the cameras have a great signal, they work great. Keep that in mind when considering this system. Also, the requirement of a subscription after the free trial to enjoy all of the notification/video features is something that should be considered before purchasing. If you don't want to pay for a subscription, look elsewhere.

The general consensus you will find online about Arlo is that their hardware is mostly good, but their software/support is terrible. My experience can confirm that. The good: Good video quality, decent battery life. Extra battery was nice to include. The bad: 1. There is a significant video feed delay (upwards of 10 seconds in some cases) through the app and online via a browser. There was no difference when I was connected to the same network as the cameras. This was concerning for real time notifications. When it comes to security and emergency situations, a 10 second delay is a lot and in my opinion unacceptable at this price point. This issue is not unique to me. Just search "Arlo video delay". Arlo says this is normal for their cloud service. Sounds like they need to invest in better back-end hardware and bandwidth. I have two cheap indoor cameras, one from TPlink and the other from Swann and neither have this issue when live viewing. Their delay is 1 second at most. My friend has an indoor Nest camera and no/minimal delay as well. 2. It takes 5+ seconds to just connect to the camera in the app or online in the best case scenario. So when you get a motion alert and go to look at your camera live feed, coupled with the issue in #1, you're 15-20 seconds late (assuming the best case scenario of already having the app open) and that is an eternity when it comes to security and emergencies. 3. Speaking through the camera initially didn't work for weeks after I purchased this system. An app update apparently broken this functionality and it took 2-3 weeks to fix. Once "fixed" the app still displayed errors that it couldn't connect when tapping the microphone icon to speak. When it would connect, the audio delay back and forth was terrible. It took 5-10 seconds, each way, for the audio to transmit, effectively making this important feature for me completely useless. No, it wasn't an issue on my side. Just search online for "Arlo camera audio delay" and see all the complaints about this going back years. The issue happens on their doorbell camera too which is even more egregious. The included hub was connected to my top end 6E mesh router along with gigabit internet (up and down). The issue was present at all times when I was connected to the same wireless signal, a different wireless, or on 5G mobile data. The issue also happened via a web browser through their web interface. No amount of rebooting, uninstalling, resetting, clearing cache, etc fixed the issue. 4. We bought this before going on vacation. During the middle of our trip, one of the cameras was repeatedly sending motion alerts (like every few seconds) when nothing was moving in the view or alert zone of the camera. This is a known issue apparently because Arlo has a help article about it. The issue though with trying to fix it is that it requires removing the battery and putting it back in to reboot the device. Not possible when I'm in a different state. I had to turn off notifications for our primary front yard/driveway camera negating the purpose of having this for security when we were gone. I don't understand why Arlo doesn't have a reboot feature in the app like they do for the doorbell. Makes no sense. 5. Related to #4, there were a higher than expected amount of false positive notifications even when I set specific alert zones to exclude anything that would move from the wind or cars driving by. I expected some of course, but for this high-end system, I expected better motion detection. 6. Also related and probably most important regarding motion detection, there were times when motion detection/video recording didn't occur at all or was late and only caught the last bit of movement when someone was walking away (happened on Arlo's doorbell too). So when watching the saved video, it would occasionally show a foot/leg leaving my porch around the corner when it should have started recording 5 or so seconds before the person was in frame of the camera or alert zone. The camera, like other brands, seems to have a record feature that is always overwriting for some length of time and when motion is detected, it will stop overwriting and record the video starting 5-10 seconds before the motion was detected. This failed to work several times. My settings were 100% sensitivity and record until activity stops. 7. The "total security" mounts are a joke. I recommend going to the product page for this mount on Best Buy and reading my full review there. The tensioner ring that tightens down the ball joint can easily be unscrewed and everything can be stolen in about 5 seconds. 8. The subscription is pricey and essentially required to actually use the features of this kit. Other brands offer high quality with no subscription needed. 9. I wasn't able to connect to my cameras (or doorbell) when connected to the same wireless signal while also connected to my VPN I subscribe to or my work VPN (via Cisco AnyConnect). It would work fine if I was on a different wireless network (like at work) or on mobile data and connected to my VPN. It made no sense to me and I couldn't resolve it. Overall, the app and software is buggy. Arlo's support is horrendous. Products and accessories are overpriced. Would recommend you look elsewhere.

      Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to write your experience in such detail.

A slight delay is expected as the camera must communicate with the Arlo cloud when live streaming. However, if delay is extensive then please read following article: https://kb.arlo.com/1124. When it comes t receiving unwanted notifications, we suggest creating activity zones as you indicated in your review and deselecting all other motion from the Arlo Smart notification settings. Removing this option will prevent unwanted notifications, please read about it here: https://kb.arlo.com/000056585. If sensitivity is already set to the max and you are the Arlo cameras are still missing motion, then please read in to the Arlo foresight option which begins recording prior to any motion being detected. Please read more about Arlo foresight here: https://kb.arlo.com/000062053. Also, we have many affordable subscriptions plans for your convenience, please refer to article for details: https://kb.arlo.com/88.

The "4K" quality is not true in any way the recordings are done. You can stick a MicroSD card in there and the quality is still not good enough. Can't pick up details at a distance which brings up the question of why have it in the first place. The setup process is terrible. Two of the cameras had trouble syncing to the base when I placed them next to the base itself. When inserting the MicroSD card into the base, I get a message saying I need to format the card. I follow the instructions to format it from the app itself and the button to do it disabled. Battery life is terrible and should be expected since you can see how small they are and see the "4K" video from it. Don't place them somewhere where you are not ok with shutting down the camera to change/charge the battery and don't have the patience with it not re-syncing to the base. Tangentially, I bought a solar panel to avoid this and have stopped working just a year later. The range needed between the base and the cameras is abysmal. The shortest distance between one connection is like 20 feet with a single wall to the outside of the house and I get only 2 bars out of 3, whatever that means. This meant have to get another base where one MicroSD card worked and the other didn't like I mentioned previously. Worst of all, the actually important features that you want to have to protect yourself and anyone else living with you is behind a subscription service. Let me explain what I wanted: I set up the camera to look at the grass in the front yard exclusively where no human beings should be there between Midnight and 5 AM. I know that there are apps approved from Apple that allow for notifications that disregard the Do Not Disturb mode of your phone and still blare out a noise push notification. I wanted to have that happen in that situation so that I can personally check the feed and then make the judgment call to use the Camera's siren or call the police, but they instead want to charge $9.99/mo and the option is to automatically call the police for some reason. Plus some other stuff like storing the videos in the cloud, but they got in trouble before about how that is done so you can look up yourself since I'm tired of writing about this terrible system. Don't know of any good alternative since I am not in a position to spend more money on some other system, but I would guess that a Eufy system is better since you can more camera per dollar, some have built-in solar panels for battery, and let you use an actual hard drive so that you can actually record more.

Very happy with the Arlo Ultra 2, 3-camera system so far. Easy install and setup. 4k cameras were an important reason for purchase…if you have the bandwidth. I also bought extra Arlo batteries for backup. After charging the originals before first use (as recommended) I easily got over two months of use before swapping them out for the spares while the originals re-charged. The iPhone app alerts you when a battery needs to be replaced (charged). Don’t buy the cheap Chinese substitutes. Other reviewers helped me avoid that mistake. This system comes with the Arlo 5000 base station. It’s handy for local recording. You’ll need to buy a micro card as it’s not included with the kit.
