Great home system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the original Arlo system and already liked it. This was an upgrade. and I am impressed. The batteries last longer, and are easier to pop out and recharge. The video is crisp and clear, and I can talk to someone at my front door (even when I am across town). Great part is the original Arlo cameras will attach to the 4K base station, allowing us to expand.

A great camera but a pain to keep it working.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these 4 cameras for my home security. The problem came in with having to get on a ladder everyday to take each camera down, charge it, then put it back in the mount and then waste time trying to get it aimed correctly.

Major Security Risk
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The unit is nice, but I returned it. The hub does not allow for the customer to create their own passwords between the cameras, hub or to log in for admin management. The Arlo, complany has this information on their backend which means, an insider could breach the customer privacy, without warning, at anytime. They also could account information outside the company and release it to a third party (hacker). This is a major problem. Customers should be able to self management the hub, change the password between the camera and the central unit, and revoke access to Arlo, if need be. This device, and others like them, want the consumer to set and forget. But, be warned this may main at the cost privacy and increased risk.

Good system, although a bit pricy.
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These 4k cameras were the best on the market at time of purchase. They also have the longest distance to hub signal capture than anything on the market. I have a camera 150' outside on a tree and the signal is great, but video quality is diminished at this distance.

Great video quality, terrible security system.
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Arlo was once a great little home security system. Then they made various updates to their software that effectively made their systems worthless. My system used to record deer walking thru the yard at night, stray animals, etc. - now it misses most everything that should be triggered by motion. Their customer service was useless and offered no help other than trying to blame the internet connection. (My internet speed is super fast and I have no trouble with anything except Arlo. If you need video coverage for security - buy something else!

Feature packed, but lackluster execution
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very excited to receive the Arlo 4K Wire Free camera system as I've been contemplating getting outdoor cameras for a while. The packing and unboxing was pretty impressive - they pack a lot of gear in a small box - but I almost threw away the charging cable as it was so light and packed in a section of the box that I thought was trash - so inspect all parts! The camera itself is heavier than I expected and comes with a cool magnetic mount that allows for almost infinite range of motion and mounting angles. The magnetic mount fastens to your mounting point via a simple wood screw, and a drywall anchor is also included. I have the camera mounted to an eve on the outside of my home. So far, I am impressed by the ability of the camera to stay in place by the magnetic mount. The base station is about the size of a paperback novel, and connects to your home network ONLY via Ethernet. You cannot connect this via Wi-Fi to your home network unless you use an external Wi-Fi bridge or something. This is important if your router is in a location that is not near the location of the cameras - the cameras communicate back to the Arlo base station via a separate Wi-Fi network created between the Arlo base station and the camera(s). Setting up the system was fairly simple, and follows a process that a lot of IoT devices follow - Connect your base station to the network, then you download the Arlo app, create an account, it searches your network for the base station, then you scan a barcode on the camera to pair it to your system. The pairing process went pretty smoothly. The camera comes with a half charged battery, as do most LiOn devices. The battery charged to full using the included charger and charging cable in about 2 hours give or take. The night performance and color night vision are quite impressive. So far, so good. I hung the camera outside and got the view I wanted. I then went in and started looking at the camera on my phone. The video was pretty good, but it was definitely 30 seconds or so behind live. The quality was nowhere near 4K though. I let it ride though, and started about my day again. However, I started getting constant motion notifications. It was recording at least 1-2 videos every minute. I drew a motion zone polygon to only include motion in my yard and sidewalk, not the street and not the tree branches that would blow in the wind. Also, at this point the battery at the end of Friday was down to about 50-60% on the camera after less than 12 hours of use. I opened a ticket with Arlo the next day, and they suggested to remove and re-add the camera. That helped a bit, but I still continue to get at least a hundred of videos recorded. After contacting Arlo support and speaking to a tier two engineer, they acknowledged that the motion zones are not functioning on the Ultra 4K cameras and that they were developing a fix but had no date as to when the fix would be released. I was able to improve camera battery life some by moving the base station to my first floor of the house instead of in the basement by all of my other IT equimpent, but this may not be an option for some if you don't have cabling throught your home. So, I have a really expensive camera system that records hundreds of videos every day of mostly tree limbs blowing or cars passing by. Also, for a battery powered camera, it seems if you decide to actually record in 4K, the battery life is bad. There's a setting that allows for best video quality, balanced, or best battery life. I had to set it to balanced for any type of useful battery life. Also, the camera does not seem to have slots for dual batteries - so either your camera is down for a period while it's charging, you have to wire it to power constantly via solar or power adaptor, or you have to purchase a charger and spare battery - and constantly climb up and replace the battery in your security camera(s). Also, the Arlo packages are somewhat confusing as to what you get when you have a subscription and what you get if you don't. There's multiple tiers, a 4K video add on, etc.. Simplifying the subscription tiers would be an ideal adjustment for consumers. All in all, the Arlo ecosystem has a lot of pros, but a few drawbacks as well, and the 4K cameras seem to need a bit of time to be ready for prime time - especially at the retail price for both the starter kit and additional cameras.

Not HD/4k, battery life mediocre.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: - Nice mounts. - Sleek design. Easy to paint shell or buy a cover. Cons: - Battery life is less than a week. (non streaming and with 10-15 events per day) for outside use. I ended up buying the solar panels to make sure I didn't have to recharge batteries weekly. - User interface is lacking behind Nest. It takes "forever" to start streaming on phone/web even when on same wifi and storing video locally on basestation. Arlos web interface require Adobe Flash!! for video streaming. - Video quality is no where near HD or 4k unless you are within 25 ft of the base station. - Monthly price plan is more than Nest if you want notification and CVR. (Nest combines that into one) Overall probably would not buy again..

Great camera's/Very efficient
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Exchanged our arlo's for these new ones that just recently came out. They work more efficiently than the ones we had. The picture quality is better. Like that you can control the sensitivity and can communicate both ways if needed. Easy to use/install/monitor. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a home security system.

Excellent Clear Videos
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to setup and great app. Need good wifi to get quick access to cameras. Spinning wheel when WiFi is low. We also got the Arlo doorbell and it works good as well. Tried to sync two chimes on doorbell (one upstairs and one downstairs) but that didn’t work. Just used one as it also calls your phone when the doorbell is rung.

Connection Issues
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As far as I can tell the cameras want to connect directly to the hub instead of connect to Wi-Fi and talk to the hub. Doing this makes them useless outside. I had severe connectivity issues that resulted in me having to return them and switch to Eufy. I’ve been super happy with Eufy although they are not 4K I wish they were. The picture quality was very good for Arlo but the actual usage was not good at all. Eufy also does not charge a subscription whereas Arlo requires a subscription and it is rather expensive in my opinion. Eufy app is much better also.

Nice security system
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This system has worked very well for us. Once you get some things tweaked to benefit your needs you’ll enjoy it more. This is not one of those stay on recording devices. I have it mostly setup for night use as I work from home. Otherwise the battery life will drain quite fast.

Good but needs to be much better at this price
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The biggest problem is range. They claim 300 feet but that is only in clear, unobstructed air. I can barely get a connection at 30 feet with one standard interior 2x4 wall in between the cameras and the base. Arlo's solution? Move the base closer to the cameras. Well, shoot! Why didn't I think of that? Seriously? The cameras are in opposite directions of the base. Moving it closer to one kills the other. This is no solution at all. Another huge limitation is the storage. Requiring everything be sent to the cloud is killing my data cap and the microSD is a horrible joke for 4K recording. It would be a 5 star product if it included the ability to use every homeowner's extensive WiFi system, had USB3 connection for local storage and could reduce the reliance on the cloud. Otherwise, it is an expensive novelty.

Okay cameras
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like the picture quality but I always have to deal with either a dead battery in less than a week or my camera being “disconnected from the internet” when the internet is fine, and everything is connected..

EXCELLENT HOME MONITORING SOLUTION
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to set up. Simple to use. Great features. The application has everything we needed for home monitoring. 4K picture quality is outstanding. And have been told it will hold up in court. The audio quality is top notch. It’s actually not a product rather a home security solution that I highly recommend.

They work great.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. They work great. I’ve had some wired cameras and these stomp them. Amazon and Youtube reviews turned me off at first as it showed some cons they turned me away. Best Buy gave me a 15 day period to test these. I knew once I had these setup they were keepers. I don’t have to pay them off for 2 years no interest so the price is very expensive but helps with not having to fork over all the cash at once.
