Do more research, I would return them if I could.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly, I was excited to get this system and after researching them it seemed like they got a lot of good feedback and would be perfect and easy to use. I got them and didn't worry about them since I felt confident they would be great so I wasn't able to install them for a year after purchase (there goes any return policy and warranty) Just in time to realize I should have gone with something else. These cameras almost make me wish I went with a WIRED system even though its a lot harder to set up. The setup is mediocre. I have the fastest internet available to me so I know it's a product issue, Some cameras would discover right away then some would take 3 tries and the distance is horrid....the FARTHEST camera can't be more than 25 feet away through one wall and always claim connection is weak and 1 bar which sometimes makes it not respond quick or the quality fuzzy. When the slim chance this system works 100% the picture quality and sound is great, but too many issues to make it acceptable. One cameras microphone/sound is shot after a month of being installed, it has heavy static every time you open it no matter how many times you configure it or try resetting it so now it has to stay on mute all the time, and now another camera has a dimming issue that works fine during the day then at night makes the screen bright white and you can't see anything. 2 cameras being junk after 2 months of being mounted is pretty bad and don't worry sometimes when you try to charge the battery when its 30 degrees or below outside it will say its too cold to charge and won't work. Left it plugged in overnight and still wouldn't charge until the next day when it was warm outside. Ive also had the whole system go offline before while everything else on the network worked but it wouldn't let you reset or rediscover, just started to randomly work 12 hours later. The field of view is amazing but the motion detection range seems to only be 1/4 of the screen even when its set for the whole thing i've had delivery people get right past 2 cameras when you can see the entire front yard on a live stream, the list goes on. I would do more research before throwing $900 away on something that works whenever it wants to.

very good cameras

Excellent camera system but
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The only thing I can knock these on is it seems the WiFi signal isn’t quite as strong on the Ultra system vs the Pro system. Had to move the base station in the house to get all the cameras communicating reliably. Yes, I upgraded from the Pro system and I believe it was worth it. Image resolution is significantly better!

Mindblowing
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have seen home video systems in the past. Long wires and poor video Quality. The Arlo Ultra is none of that. You just need a decent wireless signal close to where you want the cameras to go and boom. My wife loves that she can watch me walk the dog from work and the text notifications are always on time.

Good camera but does not work with SmartThings
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was assured by the sales associate that the Ultra cameras are supported by ST which turned out to be incorrect. ST does support other Arlo cameras but not this one. I kept the cameras with the hope that ST will eventually come out with a patch

Wait For The Firmware Before Giving Up
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This really is the tale of two evaluations. At first this camera, hub and software was a complete and utter disaster. The range of the hub seemed very lacking. The camera was unresponsive. The software would force close when connecting to the 4K camera only, I have some Arlo Pro 2 cameras also. After the firmware update, the Ultra is on par battery wise and functionality of the Pro 2 with better video and a LED light. After getting the firmware update, everything came into focus. For whatever reason, when connecting the camera the first time the software said everything was at the current version. After frustration set in I removed the camera from the app then went thru the following steps. Resysncing the camera by pushing the Sync button on the camera and hub then restarting the search, it finally found the software updates. The firmware update took a few minutes to apply, it eventually finished. I thought that it was hung and was worried the app had locked up again. After getting things configured, I moved my older Pro 2 cameras over to the hub. Initially the range seemed to be much smaller, cams that were easily in good range before were said to be out of range or could not be reached. After a short period, everything started to look normal again and the range seemed to improve. Technically there is no reason this would happen, it isn't like it needed to warm up, but it did stabilize. After I had the Ultra camera connected but before the firmware update, the camera seemed like it needed line of sight. Post firmware and after warming up(?) the range is almost identical to the Pro 2's I have. Long story short, make sure you get the firmware update installed and give it some time to possibly finish booting up after the firmware is applied. I would say give it a good 20 minutes after you have the camera connected before even playing with finding a good location for the hub and the camera. We had a power outage a few days after installing this. The hub did not need to warm up this time. As soon as the boot was done, it was ready to roll. As for everything else. Good: - The camera has a LED light that you can adjust the brightness on - The light and camera can be triggered by motion detection - Night vision is really well done - Has a SD card slot for local storage, but says disabled in the app. (I haven't tried installing a card yet.) - Camera seems more water proof than the Pro 2's. There is a magnetic changing cable. This is good and bad. The good, water proof. The bad...easy to lose when you are only charging every few months. Bad: - Unless you have Gig at home and have a really good cellular connection, don't stream 4K off the local network. - Firmware is mandatory, the initial impression is bad, but patience while the firmware is found is really worth the trouble. - As previously mentioned, the bad for the magnetic charging is losing the cable. - Squirrels. The keep getting in front of the camera waiting for their closeup. One squirrel like to stand on the camera, and tries to knock it off the mount. The Pro 2 he could dislodge, this seems to hold better but he does change the angle of the shot daily. - Annual subscription seems a bit pricey. You end up paying for 10 camera license, but I only have 3 cameras. Arlo needs to revisit this as other devices I own are much cheaper annually and charge a flat rate..

Connects to Alexa
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far, so good. One of my deciding factors was that the product works with my phone, my computer, and Amazon Alexa. Another thing I like is the cameras ability to distinguish between an animal, a package, a person, etc. and the ability to adjust notifications based on the subject identified.

Okay cameras
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not impressed with 4K. It looks like my old set of cameras of hd 1080ip. You zoom in and the numbers in the cars are still blurry. I wish I can view all the cameras together on one screen so I can track someone like my old traditional camera.

So far so good
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have had them up for about a month now and they are all still over 60% battery and directly in the elements. They have held up to a few serious thunderstorms so far. Only thing I wish was that the live stream didn't have so much lag and was a bit more clear on the local live stream.

Great camera system!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We moved from Xfinity Home to this Arlo Ultra 4 Camera 4K HDR system and we are super happy. Really easy to install and manage. The best, is up to you how much you want to spend a month for access the recordings. I only would improve the speakers, they are not loud enough in my opinion.

Good camera but not for security
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have purchased 3 sets of these cameras including the new ultra. Now just under 3k dollars which would have bought a great security system. All of them work good as a camera but these are in no way a security camera. Far too many times have these cameras failed to record while someone walking right in front within 6ft. Great technology but has a long way to go for them to be called security cameras. App has issues as well and needs some quality control. You can guarantee one day when you need it right away the connection will have issues. We have given Arlo 4 years now and that's enough now it is time for a real system.

Security camera
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like these better than the regular Arlo Cameras. Arlo still has issues and they are working on them to correct it. I have found when a camera drops off line, rather than take it down like what they say and remove the battery, just restart the base in the settings!
