As an owner of Arlo Q, Arlo Pro 2, Google Nest cam, I can absolutely and unequivocally say that the Arlo Ultra is a step up in quality. Below are its strengths and shortcomings. Pros: extremely clear video quality. You can turn on the flashlight on the camera at night for clearer image. The setup is very easy even for the technologically challenged. A huge plus is that you can go back and view recordings for free. Another improvement is the charging time for the battery is faster than other wireless camera systems. You have the ability to add SD card for recording locally or through the clouds. Indoor or outdoor use. Need Improvements: Hope the engineers at Arlo will figure out a way to make it harder for potential thieves to steal these expensive cameras. I would love to be able to mount the cameras at face level but I am afraid would-be thieves just take 2 seconds to steal it. Placing camera out of reach of thieves means it would be a pain when time for retrieving the battery for recharging. Last but not least hopefully the battery will last at least 3-4 months at 80-90 degrees F ... Overall: recommend buying Arlo Ultra! Disclaimer: Arlo has provided me with this product free of charge through a friends and family program, but the content and my opinions expressed here are honest and based on my use of the product.

The battery life on this camera system is horrible. You literally have to charge the batteries daily. It defeats the purpose of having the system. I spent a lot of money on this system and CAN’T use it.

They don't hold a charge nearly as long as it says on the box, we have one down Cabrera a day at least that needs to be charged, also it goes crazy even with adjustment over every car that drives by the house.

Nice upgrade from Arlo Pro 2

I have a couple of Pro 2s and have been happy with them, though they are redundant with my pre-existing hardwired camera security system. The Ultra is a nice upgrade from the Pro 2, with all the features others have already described (4K, light, wide angle, etc.). However, I feel that the biggest drawback for the 4K and other Arlos is the need to charge the batteries. Depending on your setup, you either have to run an extension cord to each camera to charge them periodically or, alternatively, pull out the ladder and take each camera down to charge them. If you've mounted your camera to a specific position, you'll understand the frustration of having to take it down, charge it and then re-mount/ re-aim it each time you have to charge. I feel like the 4K could have/should have added an additional power feature, for example power over ethernet (POE). Aside from that, though, this is a nice, solid upgrade from the Pro 2.
