||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Issues with lost signals and lag between object detection and recording still exist. I figured between Arlo and Arlo 4 (Ultra) they would have been able to fix these issues... I don’t recommend this product.

Beaware of misleading packaging
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coming from another Arlo system I thought this would be an upgrade. Not only is this system expensive, but unlike the cheaper versions they make you pay for cloud storage at a much higher price vs the competitors. How is paying more for the "top of the line" system penalized unlike the Arlo 3 or precious versions? So basically without paying for the cloud storage it is basically a useless system. Might pay for a year, but will not be buying any Arlo or Netgear in near future, especially after calling their support center for help. not very helpful.

To much delay
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Footage is clear. To much delay for live view and at times takes to long to connect live view. Alarm volume is to low. Ring has better services. Arlo has some work to do on the operational side.

To much for services.
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The camera's work great, its all the services that they charge for. The camera's themself are expensive enough but on top of that if you want cloud service they charge for what they call PVR which only cover's 5 cameras which is $10 to $15 a month depending on the quantity of recording you want. On top of that if you want the CVR continuous reconding depending on the length of time you want it stored it, it will cost you an additional $10 a month per camera. Beware of all the extra cost. There are other camera's that don't charge for all the extra options

Great option
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m pretty new to the video security system game (previously only having a Video Doorbell) so I don’t have anything to compare this system to. Setup was fairly simple. Video quality is excellent so far for me. I haven’t had it long enough to say if the battery lives up to the timeframe Arlo claims but I assume battery life will really depend on how you use it. I will caution people on choosing the one camera option if you’re wanting to use this outside and have views of the perimeter of your home...one won’t do it. You will need at least 2. The only issue I have had was a slight lag a couple of times but that may have been an issue with my internet when 18 devices were connected at the same time, but after going into my router and prioritizing as well as disconnecting a few devices I didn’t realize were even connected full time when not needed I haven’t noticed the lag again (so far). As far as the free year of the Arlo safety plan...it’s too soon to say if it’s worth it, but chances are you’re going to want to pay for the additional service to really get full feature use. Overall, I’m content with this system. Not sure if the price point is really worth it, but since I’m new to the brand I can’t accurately say if this system is worth the price upgrade from the other options available from Arlo.

Great camera for a beginner.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera system is a very good product for what I need to to do on my farm. Setting up the system on my phone and computer is very easy to do (as long as you follow the instructions that is provided). Note: Arlo provided me with this product free of charge, but the content and my opinions expressed here are honest and based on my use of the product. Arlo Smart Premier Service 1 year included with rolling 30 day cloud recording for up to 10 cameras. 4K & HDR The picture is crystal clear (except when I zoom in or try to read a license plate). Enhanced night vision A very good feature to have on my farm...color night vision allows me to see in color rather than traditional black and white. Integrated spotlight The spotlight is a good feature when you live in the country. It lights up the driveway as I pull up at night. 180 degree view I like this feature a lot...I am able to see my chickens and if a predator approaches. Knowing the type of preadator I am dealing with help me to know which weapon to use. Noise canceling technology This feature is not the best...I can hear very well, however, the built-in microphone is very weak. I tried the microphones on both my computer and phone, and obtained the same results, unable to speak to anyone on the other end of the microphone. Auto zoom and tracking This is a good feature and I like it a lot. I am able to view moving objects with clarity and detail. Fast and easy wire-free set up Easily install and adjust your camera with the new magnetic mount. Magnetic charging Quickly charge your camera and easily snap the connecting cable into place. The only problem with the charging cable is, it is very short for me to use where I have the camera. I believe Arlo sells longer magnetic charging cables. Custom activity zones Creating a specific focus area, I have not tried/tested. Built-in smart siren The built-in siren feature was not tested. However, it is a very good feature to have. Rechargeable battery The battery last for a long time, however, it is base on how often the camera is active. Overall, this is a very good product and I would recommend this product to friends and family. I will be obtaining a second and third cameras.

Awesome Wireless Camera in 4K UltraHD
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a first time user for Arlo cameras. I’m trying the most advanced Arlo Ultra 4K as my entry point to build up my first home security thingy. The camera is beautifully built. It looks and feels upscale with total quality. This is a preciously built product. The camera set up was quite straightforward. Plug in the big Li-ion battery (partially charged 56%) and connected the magnetic USB power charger. The charge didn’t take long to reach full. However, the 2 cameras needed to take turn to be charged given that it only comes with one charge cable. I’m fine with that. Downloaded the Arlo App and set up the Smart Base was simple and intuitive. Note that the Base can ONLY be connected to the home router through Ethernet port and cable. This part is definitely not wireless. It took me a while to arrange the cables and find a good spot. I installed one camera on Front Door and one for Driveway. The installation for the mounts (x2) was easy. However, the quality of screw for magnetic mount doesn’t look sturdy. It was stripped by my electrical screw driver. I have to use my own screw to mount it up though. Somehow, the connection signal always shows 2 bars. When I check the Video Bandwidth strength inside the app, it still shows Good. The connection between Base and Cameras (50 ft apart) is not too steady. It goes offline quite unexpected. Take some time, like a minute, to bring back the connection. Once it’s online, the 4K Live Stream looked awesome. I put in a 128GB MicroSD to record these 4K video in the Base. Note that I can ONLY view those 4K recording by physically taking out the SD card and inserting into a PC. There’s no direct access to the MicroSD though my home network. Night Vision is very clear and bright with color when spotlight is on. It did effectively pick up all the detail you can hardly see under dark. The motion detection is very sensitive. Frequently It’s triggered by weaving branches and shadow even the motion sensitivity set to as low as 20% (in Mode setting). I haven’t found the sweet spot on the setting to weed out those unwanted footage. So I just deleted those every day when I reviewed the recordings. There are People, Vehicles, Animals, & All Other Motion in the Smart Alerts under Smart Notifications. It works quite accurate as designated. The alerts arrive promptly. The Package Detection (beta) is working hit or miss. It will need more video samples donated to fine tune the detection though. Nevertheless, the feature of Facial Recognition for friends and family members is on the wish list. Hope it can be added in the near future. That would be perfect. Arlo really got it right for the Ultra hardware this time given that it still has plenty of room to improve on the software part. I plan to buy additional cameras to cover more areas. By all means, it still earned a 5-Star rating from me and a Strong Recommendation to Buy! Disclosure: Arlo has provided me with this product free of charge through a friends and family program, but the content and opinion expressed here are honest and based on my use of the product.

Solid indoor-outdoor camera.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far, I'm pretty happy with the new security camera. It's easily set up, the phone-based controls are intuitive, the picture is quite good. I like the ease of charging, and it's easy to set up more cameras into the system once we buy them. Other strengths are that I can use microsd cards with the system, and I can set off a siren through my phone (or through motion detection), and there's a spotlight. It has a ton of features. The camera came with a strong magnetic base that can be mounted on any wall and the camera is held in place by magnets. The camera also has threads so that you can screw it into place for better camera security, which is especially useful if you're using it to monitor the front of your house and the camera is in sight of the street. If I have a problem with the system, it's that a more secure mount wasn't included with the system. They're easy enough to find, though, and, so far, we have no regrets.

Great video, easy setup, adequate motion sensing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.SETUP: The initial setup was straightforward. After unpackaging, I followed the provided instructions and had video within 20 minutes. There is an app to install on your phone as part of this. The system includes a hub device with wired ethernet, a camera, battery, magnetic mount, and mounting screws. There is also a charging cable, this is USB type A on one end, and a proprietary connector on the other end. FEATURES AND PERFORMANCE: I've been using the camera for 30 days at time of writing. The web interface is good. It provides options for adjusting the camera settings, audio settings, and some feature to assist with motion capture thresholds. The camera has 3 video modes for adjusting the field of view, super wide, wide, and full. This is very useful, but effects the motion sensing. Additionally you get the status of the camera, including battery life remaining. The phone app covers the same spectrum of features. Both give access to full control of the camera and settings. Additionally, the phone app has notifications available when a motion event occurs. Both allow you to watch the live video feed at any time. The camera delivers a good picture. The 4k capture runs at 24 FPS, and the quality is very good. The night capture does well, you can clearly make out faces and objects with reasonable range, maybe 30 feet with decent detail. The motion capture is good, and bad. When you set it on sensitive levels it will capture motion at a good range, and just about every flicker of light up close. When you set the sensitivity low it will do a good job up close, and will only get large objects (vehicles) at longer range. I have the camera positioned watching my driveway, and it always captures vehicles coming and going. It only captures people within 20 feet of the camera with low sensitivity. There is room to adjust the sensitivity, but I find it frustrating trying to cover my driveway with a single camera. The capture time on motion is between 12 and 16 seconds, which I don't believe to be adequate. My expectation is to capture sometime prior to the event, the entire event, and an additional 5-10 seconds after the event. Most of the motion captures I have will end while motion is still occuring, and I sometimes get a 2nd capture with the tail end of the event. I don't have confidence that an event will be fully captured with this performance. Additionally, when motion is detected at night, the camera has LEDs that will light up. This lets any potential bad actors that the camera is rolling, this is always a good deterrent. Battery life is much better than what I expected for a camera. Out of the box, the battery was at 51% in my case. After 30 days usage, it only dropped to 19%. Based on this I can expect to charge it every 80-90 days, which is great. This is with an average of 20 motion captures per day CONCLUSION: All in all I have mixed feelings on the device. The video quality is excellent, the interface to view it is quick and easy to use, and the battery life is better than I would expect for a wireless camera. I am not pleased with the quality of motion capture and the length of time that is captured. Overall, I think with more cameras, each responsible for a smaller area, I would be able to adjust the sensitivity of each to a desired level. The capture time frames are still a concern, this may be related to the sensitivity levels I have set. With the battery performance as good as it is, and the fully wireless setup, this is a very intriguing security product. The most painful part of a camera setup is running wires, this system eliminates that and still delivers good quality imaging. Overall, the video quality, motion sensing, and wireless setup were the most compelling features to me. The video quality is great, the wireless setup is really excellent, and the motion capture functionality is adequate at best. I'd give it 7/10. 4 stars over 3 because the video quality is really excellent, the battery life is excellent, and the setup is fully wireless. My hope is that the motion sensing can be improved with software, when it comes down to it this is a great system that is easy for a homeowner to get going. Arlo provided me with this product free of charge, but the content and my opinions expressed here are honest and based on my use of the product.

Cameras stop working randomly
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Does its job until it doesn't. On a weekly basis, one or more of the cameras stop recording videos (which they should do when motion is detected). This is totally random, and can happen at any time. The fix is ridculous (removing the device, reinstalling the device, sometimes works, sometimes it doesn't, removing and reinstalling the battery, or resetting the base). It is ridiculous at this price point. Too much headache for something that should simply work.

Great Camera, Expensive Service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using the Arlo Ultra in addition to a set of Arlo Pros for the past month. Overall, the Arlo Ultra camera system is an impressive camera. The increased viewing angle, reduced fisheye, and increased resolution is a great improvement from previous Arlo models. I have not run into any significant challenges and the camera has consistently functioned as expected. The Arlo Ultra has excelled in a few areas: 1. Great image quality and viewing angle (180 degrees) 2. Integrated spotlight 3. Improved night vision 4. 1080p resolution (I have not tested the 4K capabilities.) With that said I’m not sure it is worth the additional cost over the existing Arlo Pro and Pro 2 models for a few reasons. 1. The requirement to subscribe to an Arlo Smart plan greatly increases the cost of the camera over its lifespan. The additional features (30 day recording vs 7 days, AI detection, e911, etc.) may be worth the cost to you; however, for me, they don’t justify $9.99 /month. Most competitors are also going to this model, so soon you won’t be able to avoid these fees. If Arlo wanted to provide these services free of charge, it would be a competitive advantage. 2. Although the Arlo Ultra can record in 4K, you can only store 4K files locally unless you pay another additional fee ($1.99 / camera) on top of the Arlo Smart Plan for cloud storage. Without this additional plan, I doubt the average person installs a microSD card in the SmartHub to store 4K recordings. This means in a 3-4 cam set up you could be spending almost $20 per month in additional fees. 3. The image quality is much better; however, many features seem about the same quality from my previous Arlo Pros (motion detection, time before recording starts after motion is detected, connectivity between SmartHub and Camera, etc.). 4. From a security standpoint, I’m not sure the Arlo Ultra provides additional protection over my less expensive Arlo Pros. In summary, the Arlo Ultra is a great camera and piece of technology. If you must have 4K, want the additional features of Arlo Smart, and/or want the latest tech, the Arlo Ultra is a great choice. Personally, given the choice, I would opt for the cheaper Arlo Pros or Pro 2s as the total cost of ownership will be significantly less without the Arlo Smart subscription, while providing a similar level of security. Disclaimer: Arlo provide me with this product free of charge, but the content and my opinions expressed here are honest and based on my use of the product. For a more detailed review, continue below. Setup: Setup took just a few minutes using the Arlo app for Android, although it wasn’t without a hiccup or two. The Arlo SmartHub would not discover the Arlo Ultra. A quick call to Arlo support resolved the issue. After the device was connected it took just a few additional minutes to configure the device. Performance: About 95% of the time, the Arlo Ultra functions as intended. I did receive some 0 sec recordings when motion was detected; however, after a call with Arlo support, disengaging and reengaging the mode seems to have resolved the issue. Battery life has been equal to or greater than my Arlo Pros. My cameras average about 10 activations a day and have been lasting about 3 months. After 1 month of installation, the Arlo Ultra is still at 77% battery. The provided mount is cheaper than what was previously provided with the Arlo Pros. I feel less confident that it will hold the camera securely and hold up over time compared to the previous mount. Be sure to have a strong WiFi signal and fast internet speeds. If either of these suffer, you will likely encounter buffering due to the bandwidth requirements of 1080p and 4K. This isn’t a problem with the Arlo Ultra or SmartHub, but individual installations might suffer problems if both aren’t true
